Chapter 15 #2
I held on, straining for the moment when she tensed then tightened around me, squeezing my cock in a carnal rhythm.
She gasped, and I thrust into her one last time, burying my face into the crook of her neck at my release.
Her body quivered around me as her orgasm waned.
I thrust once more to prolong the pleasure, but it was almost too much.
I was too sensitive after such an intense orgasm.
Sliding out of Liza, I quickly soaped us both up. It turned into something loving, rather than sensual, each of us gliding our hands over one another. When we were sufficiently clean, I grabbed the showerhead to rinse.
Even out of the shower, we dried one another, gliding the soft towels over each other’s limbs, only taking care of our own hair.
After Liza used the blow dryer, we fell asleep in each other’s arms, and I felt like I’d never want to be anywhere else in this life or any other.
The next morning, I found Liza in my bathroom. “Good morning,” I said groggily. “Are you okay?”
She was leaned close to the mirror, studying the marks I’d left on her skin.
“I’m sorry I got carried away.”
But she just grinned. “I have to admit, I like that you’re so passionate when it comes to me.”
Moving closer, I wrapped my arms around Liza from behind and then buried my face in her neck, kissing the marks on her skin. “I’m a bit of a macho man, but that doesn’t mean I should mark you without your permission. I don’t want you to think I’m trying to take ownership of you or anything.”
Her sweet smile at me in the mirror made my chest clutch. “I don’t think you feel any ownership of me.” She leaned into me. “But thank you for considering my feelings.”
Her rotations were over at the hospital. “What are your plans today?” I asked.
She shrugged. “I have nothing to do all weekend except wait for my test results so I can officially apply at the hospital. I don’t really want to go back to my apartment yet, though. Not now that I know Dax has access.”
“Come on. I’ll go with you.”
We went down to her place and she filled a bag to take back to my apartment, then we headed to talk to Bert. She filed an official complaint, then we went back to my apartment to binge watch a show and order takeout.
It’d turned into the most perfect weekend I’d had in as long as I could remember. I’d definitely never been this at ease with a woman and I loved every single second of it.
Sunday, Liza’s phone rang. “It’s my proctor,” she whispered. “She must have gotten my test scores.”
“Well, answer it,” I exclaimed. I couldn’t wait for her to get the good news. I knew she’d done well.
She hurried to the other room but was only gone for a few minutes. When she came back in, it was with a huge grin on her face. “I passed,” she whispered. “And I did well.”
I jumped up and pulled her into my arms, twirling her around the living room. “I’m so happy for you!”
She kissed me, long and hard, before pulling back. “Let’s go celebrate.”
I nodded. “I’m pretty hungry.”
She popped another kiss to my lips. “Burgers?”
If it’d been entirely my choice, I would’ve chosen a champagne bar or something upscale to toast her success, but that was part of what was so wonderful with Liza. She was completely down to earth. Grounded. We ended up at the diner downtown, laughing and toasting our iced tea.
How my life had changed, so quickly. I had to thank her ex, when I thought about it.
My dragon growled at that notion, but it was true.
If he hadn’t been so creepy, she wouldn’t be staying with me now.
We might not be nearly as far along in the relationship.
As long as he kept his distance, I’d let it go. But if he didn’t…
As we dug into our food, the air in the restaurant shifted. It wasn’t the same danger I’d feel from a hostile dragon, but there was anger all over the atmosphere.
A few seconds later, I knew why. Abby approached the table.
Liza’s breath caught in her throat, and even my heart pounded a little harder.
“Well, hello,” Abby said. “I thought there might be something going on between you two.” She shook her head and met my gaze.
“You could’ve been honest with me. I’m an adult. ”
Her hostility was setting my dragon on edge. This calm, cool demeanor was a front. Inside, the woman was raving angry. Every instinct I had told me to protect Liza from this woman. “Let it go,” I said in a low voice. “I was never interested in you and that’s not Liza’s fault.”
“You do seem like the type to like them younger.” Abby cut her eyes at Liza, who looked like she’d swallowed a frog.
Abby’s voice was so bitter I could nearly taste it. “Abby, seriously. Don’t be like this. Just move on and let it go.” That wasn’t going to happen, based on the emotions she was throwing off. Even the humans sensed something. People started shifting in their seats and rolling their necks.
Once again, Abby turned to Liza. “Good luck with your application,” she said waspishly. “I heard you toast. You passed your finals.” Abby cocked her head. “Perhaps apply in more than one department.” She sniffed and looked down her nose at Liza.
Liza slumped in her booth, slightly green.
I didn’t know what I could possibly do to make things better, but I had to do something.
My dragon rose up the back of my throat, furious at Abby and her threats.
Shit. I had to control myself or I’d shift in the middle of this diner.
My shift was closer to the surface than it was even with Dax.
Dax was a punk whose ass I could kick. Abby was a threat I couldn’t easily take on. Not with force and muscle. But maybe I could scare her.
