Epilogue
SUIT
The last place I want to be right now is at dinner with our new gun dealer.
He’s an asshole, and I don’t trust him, but if we want a relationship to work with the mafia, someone has to deal with him.
And for tonight, it’s me, my prez, Rome, and my VP, War.
I’m here as the club lawyer, making sure we don’t get fucked over by Simeon Sokolov.
His two daughters are also at the dinner table, sitting across from each other.
The two of them couldn’t be more different.
They might have similar pale features, but Katerina has dyed her hair ice blonde and is wearing a tight dress showing off a nice pair of fake tits.
She’s wearing a lot of makeup and keeps batting her eyelashes at me.
Elena, on the other hand, is reading on her Kindle, her light hair like a curtain around her face, and she’s barely looked up at any of us.
She’s wearing a long-sleeved, loose dress that tells me nothing about her body, and her face is plain behind her large, black-framed glasses.
She looks like she’d rather be anywhere but here, and her own father has mostly ignored her for the entire evening.
Meanwhile, Katerina slowly rakes her teeth over her lower lip, her green eyes hungry. I know the type. She wants to fuck a biker.
After dinner, the women leave the table, and we start talking business.
I realize that I’ve zoned out, instead of listening to what has been said when Prez asks me, “Suit, what do you think?” with a pinched expression on his face.
“What do I think about what?” I ask, hating to admit that I wasn’t fucking paying any attention in the first place. Simeon was bragging about all the land he owns, and, to be honest, I don’t give a fuck.
“Simeon wants someone,” Prez clears his throat. “You, to marry one of his daughters to assure the alliance.”
Marriage?
I don’t want to get married. I told myself that after Jade, I would never commit to another woman again.
My eyes go from Prez to War, and neither of them looks happy, but they aren’t telling me that I don’t have to do this. We need this alliance. I know we do. And I’d only have to marry in name only, right?
Prez looks to Simeon. “Can we have a moment to discuss this in private?”
“Of course,” he replies smoothly, standing up and leaving.
We all stare at each other. “I’m not marriage material,” I announce, and they laugh. “Prez, you’re single, why can’t you do it?”
“He wants you, Suit. Probably because you’re the fancy lawyer, and if you’re married into his family, you can’t go against him in court.” War smirks, reaching over and clapping his hand on my shoulder. “You going to take one for the team or what?”
“Fuck, you’re serious?”
They nod.
“You’ll sell my body for some guns?”
They both look way too fucking amused considering the situation.
“Fuck!” I grit, closing my eyes and accepting my fate. “It’s just in name, right?”
Prez nods, his blue eyes studying me. “Yeah, we need this deal, brother.”
“Okay. I’ll take one for the team, but I’m never letting anyone forget about it,” I answer, and they nod gratefully. “Which daughter? He didn’t say.”
War looks at me like I’m crazy. “Ask for the hot bitch. She couldn’t stop looking at you.”
“I might not get a choice. He might just tell me which one I get,” I mutter, sighing. “Yeah, Katerina would fit in at the clubhouse. Elena, can she even fucking talk? She looks like a nerdy virgin, and she’s definitely not going to be able to handle my lifestyle. She’s not my type.”
“Go for the one that is, then,” Prez replies with a shrug.
Simeon comes back in, and I tell him that I agree.
The wedding will take place in one month.
Four weeks of freedom left…
And counting.
