Chapter One

Dani

P ressing submit, I let out a sigh of relief.

I’ve officially submitted my last assignment for this class—one less thing for me to worry about.

I don’t know what I was thinking when I decided I wanted to become a forensic accountant. The coursework is no joke, but I guess that’s something that can be said for any master’s degree.

Thank goodness, I was able to find a program that allows me to work through the classes at my own pace. I’m actually ahead of schedule to get my degree, and it won’t be much longer—something I’m eternally grateful for.

I know what you’re thinking.

Why would anyone want to become an accountant, let alone a forensic accountant? I wish I could tell you.

I’ve always been good with numbers, but being an accountant is about so much more than that. Specializing in forensic accounting even more so. To me, it’s about the puzzle of it all.

Shaking my head, I pull up my Behind the Lens channel. I’ve had a poll running for the last few days to choose the next scene I’m going to do.

Yes, that’s right. I’m an accounting major who also cams on the side.

What can I say?

I enjoy keeping people guessing.

But on a serious note, camming pays well—especially once you’ve built up a following. It’s helped me work my way through a bachelor’s and now a master’s degree without having to take out loans. I also know this isn’t a career I can have forever, which is why I’ve been working my ass off for years.

Any money that doesn’t go to school, rent, and other bills gets put into an account I don’t touch unless there’s an emergency. I’ve built quite the little nest egg, and once I graduate and get a job, I should make good money.

I’ve always been good at just scraping by. My dad died when I was a baby, and my mom tried the best she could, but she could barely keep a roof over our heads. The one thing she always had for me was love, and she let me know how much she loved me every day.

She met Matteo a couple of years ago and married him.

He makes good money, and the first thing he did after they got married was let my mom know she didn’t have to work if she didn’t want to.

She’s always been an independent woman, and said she’d get bored if she didn’t work.

But she cut back to just a part-time job—something he seems to be happy about.

Especially since they’re trying to have a baby now.

Yuck.

I mean—I’m happy they want to give me a younger sibling, but I also don’t want to think about them having sex.

But this meant I had to be the one to pay for my college education.

I’ll admit I blew through my first few paychecks before getting smart about things. Yes, I pay more in rent than I have to, and I drive a nicer car than I have to, but they keep me safe. And that’s always worth spending more money on.

Forcing away thoughts of the past, I pull up the poll. I grin when I see the results, already thinking about how I can make it work.

One of the things I love about my followers is they love joining me on my journey to discover myself and my sexuality. I didn’t originally start out with Behind the Lens, and the site I was on didn’t care about us at all. All they cared about was the money they were raking in.

Finding Behind the Lens was so much better than I could have imagined. It changed things for me. Not only was I able to make more money, but I didn’t have to record in my home. They provide studio space so we don’t have to reveal parts of our lives.

I also make a lot more money with them than I did with the other companies I worked for. Plus, being in one place has allowed me to build up a large following.

I was far from a virgin when I started camming, but when I came to Behind the Lens five years ago at the ripe age of nineteen, I was still unsure of what I wanted or liked. I still have a dozen or so followers who have been with me since the beginning, and they almost feel like friends.

That probably sounds weird. Friends shouldn’t watch you fuck yourself on a glass dildos or watch you eat out the hot brunette with the big tits or watch you getting railed by two men with monster cocks. Except, most of my friends are also cammers, so we’ve seen one another do just that.

Being a camgirl is crazy, that’s for sure.

I started out solo, but I bring on other cammers for certain scenes—both men and women since I’m bisexual.

Usually, if it’s a woman, it’s my best friend, Maya.

We’re a little more than just friends. I’d say we’re like sisters, but that’s weird as fuck to say about someone you have sex with. But we’re closer than friends.

We could be more than friends if that were something she was interested in, but she isn’t. So, that’s us—friends with benefits, I guess.

Where was I? Right, talking about camming.

I still do solo scenes. That’s what makes up most of my channel, but I’ve also been able to explore my sexuality there. The first time I was with a woman was on my channel—with Maya, of course. That was one of my highest-paid videos back then.

Now, my top videos are with more than one partner, which is why I do a lot of them. Also, who doesn’t want to get paid while fucking some gorgeous men and women?

A grin lights up my face as I see the results, already knowing exactly who I’ll ask to help me out with this one.

I can already see how it’ll play out in my head.

This one is going to be very popular.

I startle when my phone starts ringing, the ringtone loud and obnoxious—just the way I like it—as a knock sounds at my door.

It seems I’m a popular woman tonight.

I jump up, heading for the door as I glance at my phone. I make a face when I see it’s Gary.

Gary and I dated in high school during our sophomore and junior years.

I broke it off with him because I wanted to focus on school—and because the sex was terrible—but we remained friends.

Something happened at the college he was attending during his freshman year, and he ended up transferring to my school for the spring semester.

He’s attending Stonewall University’s law program while I do my online master’s.

He can be a little annoying at times, but he’s always been there for me. Plus, he’s just about the only person I still talk to from high school. It’s nice having a connection to someone from my hometown.

“Hey, Gary,” I say as I swing the door open to reveal Maya.

Maya immediately wrinkles her nose and rolls her eyes. She is not a fan of Gary.

Then again, he’s not a big fan of hers either, which means I have to keep the two of them separated more often than not.

“Hey, Danielle.” Gary’s voice is deep and sexy, even back in high school, which is why we started dating in the first place.

Well, that and he’s hot. “I just wanted to see if you were busy tonight? I know you wanted to see that new adventure movie, and I need a study break, so I thought we could go see it together.”

I glance down at the wrapped box in Maya’s hands as she walks by, frowning as I wonder what it is.

Shutting the door behind Maya, I follow her into the living room where she sets it on the coffee table before collapsing onto the couch.

“Danielle?”

“Oh, sorry, Gary. Maya just got here. We have plans tonight, so I can’t do a movie.”

There’s a moment of silence before he clears his throat. “Maya. Of course. Maybe later this week?”

As much as I want to tell him no, it’s been a few weeks since we hung out. “Sure. Why don’t we plan on getting dinner and going to see it next Wednesday? I’m free then.”

“I can do next Wednesday. It’s a date.” He sounds so triumphant, I roll my eyes.

“Not a date, Gary. Please don’t make me have this conversation with you again.”

The downfall of remaining friends with Gary is that he still wants to be more than friends.

I’ve made it perfectly clear I don’t feel that way about him, and even suggested that we not hang out for a while the last time he mentioned it.

It’s been nearly a year, and I thought he was finally over me, but now I’m beginning to wonder again.

Gary sighs. “It’s just a saying, Danielle. I know we’re just friends.”

“Yeah, okay. Well, I’d better go. I’ll see you on Wednesday.” Without bothering to wait for a response, I end the call. “Sorry about that. He called right as you knocked. What’s with the box?”

Maya looks up with a bored expression. “I don’t know why you stay friends with him. He’s creepy.”

I wave her off. It’s an argument we have every time I mention Gary, and I have no intention of having it with her again tonight.

“Food should be here in about ten. I’m going to jump into the shower. I already let the front desk know it’s coming, so they’ll send someone up when it arrives. Will you just grab the door?”

She nods. “You know I will.”

I lean down, brushing my lips against hers. “Try not to imagine me naked the whole time I’m in the shower.”

“Bitch,” she murmurs, but there’s a grin on her face. “Now, that’s all I’ll be able to think about.”

“I’m well aware.” I shoot her a wink before heading toward my bedroom, laughing as I go.

Some might call me a tease, but it’s not like we don’t both know where the night will end. I have no problem getting her worked up before then.

It’s not until I’m in the shower that I realize I never asked her about the box.

Damn it.

I guess I know what I’m doing when I get out of here.
