Chapter Nine
Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde
We fly through the streets of downtown, weaving between cars as bullets pelt against the back of my car. I press the speed dial on my car’s Bluetooth waiting for the dial tone to sound. They pick up on the first ring.
“What’s happening, baby girl?” James' voice fills the car. Blake grumbles something next to me but I’m too focused on my driving to catch what he said.
There's muffled noises in the background and then I hear Lucas, “How's your date going?” Before I can answer, Ryon cuts in.
“Yeah, did you end it early to come home to daddy?” I laugh hysterically at his words.
“What the fuck did he just say?” Blake speaks up next to me. I roll my eyes and chuckle.
“Ah, you're bringing him back to share?” Ryon jokes. I laugh so hard I nearly clip a passing car.
“I think you’ve tortured him enough, guys. I called because I’m presently outrunning five armored vehicles. I could use some back up if you fellas have the time?”
“Anything for you, dear.” James says in a calm manner.
“Stellar, we are heading towards the intersection of Madison and Glendale. Think you can enter Phase B?” I direct. If he can tap into the city's cameras, he can find us a way out of this mess.
“Turn right on Madison and then an immediate left. Head five blocks down and shimmy over to your right, there’ll be an access bridge there, take it.” James is calculated now.
“Got it, thanks.” I say.
I hit the turn with a sharp right spin of the wheel. We drift slightly but it’s nothing- I correct the car quickly as we make the left turn. Blake loads his Glock and rolls down the window, firing at the trucks behind us. It's not long before he throws himself back into the vehicle.
“Out of bullets.” He states. Annoyance clear on his face.
“Bag in the back, it’s stocked.” I tell him coolly.
We jump over roads as he retrieves the bag and pulls out a semi automatic assault rifle. He loads it quickly and continues to fire at the vehicles.
“Tires are bullet proof too.” He yells from his position out the window.
“I’m starting to think the Cartel has gotten wind of our plans. Between the attack at the office and now this? They seem pretty upset.” I laugh.
“Ya think?” He jokes rhetorically.
“Drive for me?” I ask as I let go of the wheel and sit on the door’s windowsill.
The car slightly tweaks before steadying. I look back down to see Blake’s strong hand holding onto the steering wheel while the other holds my leg. The skin to skin contact causes goosebumps to form in its place. His eyes flick between the street ahead of us and my naked thighs.
“Focus, Blake.” I say as I throw a grenade at the tank hot on our trail.
“Trust me, I’m trying.” He groans comically. Can’t say the feeling isn’t mutual. Maybe after all this is said and done, I’ll get the distraction I’ve been seeking.
“Keep driving!” I yell as I climb back through the window and over his lap. I can only imagine his face with my ass on full display, so close to his face. I continue throwing grenades towards the armored vehicles.
“Uh, Everly.” He stutters.
“Put your dick down for ten seconds, will ya?” I say.
“No, Everly, that’s-” he gets cut off as I annoyingly huff and pop my head back into the car.
“What?” I half ask, half yell.
“Look!” He shouts while pointing towards the windshield. I look in that direction to see the bridge coming into full view with traffic blocking its path. Fuck. I throw myself back into my seat and press the microphone button on the ceiling.
“Hey guys, we’ve got an issue.” I announce nervously as our window for alternatives is closing quickly. Their voices come out together at the same time.
“Yea, we know–working on it–one second.” They cut over each other.
“Right! We will go under the bridge.” Blake shoots over their voices. I nod in approval and take the turn.
We cut the turn and drift under the bridge, driving over dirt. We crash through a metal gate, pushing further until we find the empty concrete spillway reservoir that stretches half the length of the city. Perfect.
“Seatbelt!” I demand at Blake. It’s like he knows what I’m going to do before I do it. He complies and braces himself.
My foot hits the floor and I smirk at him. We make eye contact as I wiggle my eyebrows as my finger touches the red switch. He nods with permission and I flip it. We are thrown into the back of our seats as the car launches forward to over 200 miles per hour.
“Woo!” Blake cheers over the sound of the engine.
I laugh and I mean really laugh. Harder than I probably have in years. I feel so carefree in this chaotic moment, it’s blinding. I slowly stop and look over in Blake’s direction. He looks on at me in adoration with a wide smile plastered across his face.
“I could listen to that sound forever.” This causes me to freeze.
My heart beats wildly in my chest as instincts take over.
I shift into autopilot and scuffle across the car, climbing into his lap.
Like a crazed woman, I grab him by his hair and pull his face to mine.
His arms wrap around my body as we claim each other’s lips.
This is anything but gentle. It’s aggressive and controlling.
A battle of power. A fight to the death.
Both ruthlessly taking what we want from each other.
Wind blows my hair wildly around as if shielding us from the chaotic danger surrounding us.
It blankets us in a way that makes this feel like we are the last humans on earth.
It’s exhilarating and scary all at once.
My hands fly to his belt, undoing it in record speed.
“You are absolutely crazy, woman.” Blake laughs psychotically in disbelief. What did I say? I'm an adrenaline junkie. Danger turns me on. I return the amusement with a laugh as I move onto his zipper. Before I can get it all the way down, Blake tenses.
“Fuck, going to have to continue this later, my love.” The pet name has me almost drooling like a needy animal. I direct my attention to see that we are running out of roadway.
I turn to him and ask, “Do you trust me?”
“Forever.” He says without any hesitation. I curtly nod in response.
I turn off auto-pilot. I have to time this perfectly or we both die.
I click the microphone and tell James that we are moving to Phase C.
After some complaints, he concedes. As we near the end of the strip, I whip the car around in a one hundred and eighty degree turn to which we are now facing our attackers all while continuing to drive in the direction of the roadway ending.
Blake looks at me for reassurance. I softly smile at him in return.
Just as we are fifty feet from the drop off, I hit the breaks as hard as I can and flip the gears into drive.
We fly past the attackers before they even have time to register that they are going in the wrong direction.
One by one they go over the lip and into the falls.
Explosions can be heard in the distance but we don't even react.
We keep eye contact until we slow to normal speed.
Our breathing is erratic and we look like lunatics smiling at each other. Real life sociopaths.
We slow to a stop under a nearby bridge.
All that can be heard is our labored breathing.
Like magnets, I find my seat back in his lap.
Picking up where we left off, I go right for his zipper.
We start kissing wildly, the way starved animals would fight over a kill.
I feel him push his pants to his knees and then find the hem of my panties where he tears them off in one go.
“Won't be needing these.” He chuckles through our kissing. Good lord.
He throws them in the back seat and inserts his hand between us.
His fingers find my folds and I shiver in response.
He makes quick work of finding my clit with his thumb and my core with two of his fingers.
He wastes no time in pushing them inside.
I moan against his mouth, riding his hand like a feral beast. He stops long enough that I feel the tip of his manhood at my entrance.
Without hesitation, I sit myself on him.
We find a rhythm, meeting each other thrust for thrust. I can feel myself building already.
Getting closer and closer, chasing our release.
“This is going to be quick, Love.” He grinds out in between struggling moans.
“I’m going to cum.” I tell him breathlessly. He increases speed in response.
Pressure builds to an all time high. I’m nearly thrown over the edge as he speaks. “Use me. Take what you need,” he tells me.
My hands wrap around his throat, choking him and slamming myself down so hard it’s almost painful.
I feel him shutter. He tries to lift me as I fight myself down.
He roars as he fills me with his cum. I scream out in ecstasy, flying over the edge in waves of pure lust. Throwing my head back, I ride out my high until I come down.
We rest our heads together. Sitting like this for a while, until we both catch our breath.
Ghost has some competition, I laugh at myself.
“What’s going on in that beautiful mind of yours?” He asks as he pushes a piece of hair out of my face and places it behind my ear. I flush as my thoughts of Ghost come forward.
“That was…wow,” is all I can manage.
“I know.” He nods in agreement.
“We should get back.” I suggest. I climb off of him and find my seat once again.
Pressing the microphone button, I hear hysterics on the other end.
“James?” I ask. Voices fill my car until only his is clear.
“Jesus fuck, Ev. The heat signature radars picked up massive amounts in the falls. We thought you were dead!” He screams the last part.
“Awe, did someone miss me? I always come back. You know that.” I joke.
“What took you so long to get back to us?” He pushes. Blake and I look at each other stifling our giggles.
“Unfinished business.” Leaving nothing to imagination, I say.
I say my goodbyes and head back towards the restaurant to drop off Blake.
Fuck Ghost. Blake is going to be a great distraction.
If I were to be honest with myself, there’s something between us.
Dare I say, feelings. As we near his car, a beautiful matte black Chevy Camaro, he takes my hand. We pull to a stop and I turn to him.
“Until we meet again, Love.” Our hands are still touching, his words don't register until he closes the door and walks away. Ghost’s last words to me fill my mind.
He’s embedded in me, no matter what I do.
Will I ever live a life that he doesn’t have some hold on?
I groan and gently thump my head against the steering wheel before driving off in the direction of my house.
A place where more memories lie to haunt me further.
