20. Maxim
Chapter 20
Maxim
One Month Later
“O h my god, you look so handsome!”
I turn at the sound of my mom’s voice, not at all surprised to see that she’s already fighting tears. She gives me a big hug and then because she’s too excited to be still, she straightens the rose that’s pinned to my lapel before adjusting my tux jacket.
“Thanks, Mom,” I say, smiling down at her. “Is Talia ready?”
She smiles even bigger. “Almost. Everyone’s taking their seats now, though, so it won’t be too much longer.”
I may not show it like my mom is, but I’m just as nervous. Ever since Talia agreed to marry me, I’ve been waiting for this moment. I would’ve made her my wife that same day if she’d let me. I knew she was the woman I wanted to spend the rest of my life with in that dark basement, and that feeling only grew stronger after we left it.
“I’m so happy for you two,” my mom says, running her eyes over me and clapping her hands when she’s satisfied with what she sees.
We both turn when my dad and brother walk in, all three of us in black tuxes. My mom immediately starts taking photos with her phone. I hug my dad and brother and pose for several more photos with them and then a few of just Niki and me.
“You ready, son?” my dad asks, giving me a big smile.
“I’m more than ready,” I tell him.
He laughs and looks at my mom. “Exactly how I felt when I married you, sladkaya .”
She gives him a big, wobbly smile as she tries not to cry. He smacks her butt and gives her a kiss. “Come on, baby. Let’s go watch our oldest son get married.”
With tears in her eyes, she gives me one more hug and then lets my dad lead her out. Niki stays back with me since he’s my best man. Talia and I both have way too many cousins to really pair everyone off evenly, so in the end we each chose three people to stand up with us. Niki is my best man with Luka and Val as my groomsmen. Allie is the maid of honor with Yulia and Sitka as her bridesmaids. Isabella is our flower girl, and Wallace will be walking with her. She’d been thrilled when we told her Wallace was her date. She’d laughed and kissed his furry head, thinking it was the funniest thing in the world.
I can’t wait to fill our house with all the photos from today. It’s one of the things I’m most looking forward to, and I’d hired three photographers for the job, because I want every angle and every moment captured. Too much? Maybe, but in the end I’ll get my photos, and that’s all I care about.
I look over at my younger brother, unable to believe that I’m about to get married and that he’ll be turning eighteen in a few months. It seems like just a couple of years ago that he was lugging around his little toy laptop and following me around everywhere.
“What’s that look for?” he asks.
I grin and say, “I was just thinking about that toy laptop you had. Remember that? God, you wouldn’t go anywhere without it.”
Niki laughs. “That thing was awesome. Mom kept it. It’s with all the other childhood stuff she couldn’t bear to throw away. Probably right next to your toy keyboard.”
I laugh at the mention of the toy I’d been obsessed with, and ignore the soft pang in my heart at still not being able to play. My index finger is still taped to my middle finger to give it extra support, and even though I’m healing, it’s taking way longer than I’d like it to, and I’m under strict orders to only do the approved exercises and no more. The temptation to push through the pain and play whatever I want is strong, and without Talia, I would’ve given in long ago and probably left myself with permanent damage. I’d been right about her nursing skills, though. She’s bossy as hell and doesn’t let me get away with shit. I love seeing it, and I especially love when my dominant little nursemaid turns into such a willing sub anytime I distract her with my cock.
She’s fucking perfect, and I still can’t believe she’s mine.
“Okay,” Niki says, looking at his phone. “We’re up.” He surprises me by giving me a big hug. “I’m happy for you, brother. Talia’s great, and I’m looking forward to visiting you all when you’re in Oregon.”
“Thanks, Niki,” I tell him, hugging him back and then straightening my jacket again before we walk out.
We weren’t sure where to get married, but when I’d driven Talia out to the farmhouse one day, she and Wallace had fallen in love with it. Her entire family flew in for the weekend, and the house is big enough to hold both our families, so it’s worked out perfectly so far.
Niki and I meet up with Luka and Val near the back of the house, and my cousins are all smiles as they give me a hug.
Val keeps his arm around my shoulders, neither one of us quite believing this day has come. He looks out at the white tent that’s taking up most of the backyard and says, “I tried not to show it while we were there, but I seriously thought we were going to die in that basement.”
I meet his eyes, remembering all the beatings we took together, all the nights we spent unable to sleep because the pain was too intense, and the fear that was always eating away at the back of our minds.
“I didn’t think we were either,” I admit. “Miguel was such a fucking prick.”
Val gives a harsh laugh. “He was. I smile every time I remember he’s dead.”
“Me, too.”
“Leaving you down there fucking killed me, Max.” His words are thick with emotion, and he stops to get control of himself. He looks at the wedding tent and the rows of chairs that are filled with our family. “I’m just really glad this is how it all ended, because I don’t think I could’ve handled any other outcome.”
I squeeze his shoulder while Luka wraps us both in a hug. “I love you both, but you need to stop because you’re making me emotional and I refuse to cry in front of another Bratva.”
I laugh and pat his back. “All right, but I should warn you that Talia’s probably going to make me cry like a baby when I see her walk down the aisle.”
Val grins. “That’s okay. It doesn’t count if it’s your wedding day.”
“Remember that,” Luka tells Niki, making my brother laugh.
I can’t resist reaching over to ruffle his hair. “It’ll be your turn one day, little brother.” I laugh and add, “Just promise me you won’t get kidnapped to find her.”
“No, definitely don’t do that,” Val says.
Niki laughs and fixes his hair, and then the four of us head over to the tent. I go to stand by the officiant while the others go to meet up with the bridesmaids at the entrance. Scanning the large crowd, I smile at our families, and laugh when I see baby Enzo in a little sleeper that looks like a tux. Nat gives me a big smile while Dominic grins and looks back to check on Isabella. Roma squeals when he sees me, and Lara kisses his cheek and gives me a wave. Sveta looks like she’s about to burst in her dress, but she’s all smiles when I see Vitya discreetly slip her a box of animal crackers.
I smile at Talia’s family, and her mom returns it while her brothers nod at me. Even though my hand isn’t well enough for me to learn all the signs, I’m still studying with Talia every day, and when Bran signs, You doing okay?, I know enough to sign back, Nervous but happy. He grins and gives me a quick thumbs up.
Lily, Ilya’s wife, comes to stand up front. She gives me a big smile and positions herself so she’s off to the side, not in the way but clearly visible to Bran so she can interpret the ceremony. Talia’s family and friends have all welcomed me in, and I’m looking forward to getting to know them better.
I look back at my parents, giving them another smile, but when the music starts, all my attention turns to the back of the tent. Talia is nowhere to be seen, but I know she’s there, just out of sight, and the anticipation is killing me. I watch as Sitka walks down with Luka. I see him give Lara a wink as he walks past her, and then it’s Yulia and Val, followed by Allie and Niki.
When everyone is in place, I can barely keep myself still, but I’m momentarily distracted when Isabella starts walking down the aisle in her pretty pink dress with the border collie I’ve fallen completely in love with right by her side. She throws rose petals on the white runner, occasionally stopping to pet Wallace and tell him he’s a good boy.
When she gets to the end, she runs up to give me a hug and then crawls into her dad’s lap while Wallace sits next to my parents.
Then the music changes and finally my beautiful bride steps into view. Her white gown fits her like a glove, and she looks so gorgeous I have to remind myself to breathe. We only found out a couple of weeks ago that she’s pregnant, and we haven’t told anyone else yet, but knowing that my pregnant, soon-to-be wife is walking toward me has a lump forming in my throat.
Her hand grips her dad’s arm while a smile lights up her face. Her eyes stay locked on mine until she’s right in front of me, and her dad is taking her hand and putting it in mine.
“I’m trusting you with my baby girl, Max,” he whispers, and I can hear the emotion in his voice. He’s just as choked up as I am.
“And I’ll never give you a reason to regret it,” I whisper back.
He gives me a quick hug and says, “Welcome to the family, Son-in-law.”
I hug him back, squeezing Talia’s hand when he places it in mine. She looks up at me, looking every bit like royalty, and I feel like I should be on my knees, bowing before her.
“You are so beautiful, svetik moy ,” I tell her, ignoring everyone and everything else. The officiant starts speaking, but all I see is her, and all I hear is the whispered I love you she says as she squeezes my hand and looks up at me like she can’t wait to say I do.
I can’t take my eyes off her, and when I finally recite my vows, I mean every single word of them. I will love, cherish, and be completely faithful to her for the rest of my life. I’ll do anything for her. Always. No matter what.
I think I smile like an idiot the whole time she recites her vows, and I’m so grateful it was my right hand that was injured. I wouldn’t have been able to wear my wedding band if it had been the left one, and that would’ve killed me.
As soon as we’re pronounced man and wife, I cup her face and lean down. “I love you, svetik moy ,” I say right before I press my lips to hers and kiss my wife for the first time. Our families cheer as she wraps her arms around me and I kiss her until she’s blushing a beautiful shade of pink.
“I love you,” she whispers back as soon as her lips are free to speak. When our families give another loud cheer, she laughs and raises a brow at me in a silent question. I smile and wrap my arm around her as we turn to face everyone.
“Go for it, baby,” I tell her.
The smile lights up her whole face before she says and signs, “I’m pregnant!”
I didn’t think our families could get any louder, but they prove me wrong. The cheers fill the tent, spilling out into the night air and probably traveling for miles. We’re immediately swarmed, hugged and congratulated, and I’ve never been so happy in my life. Our moms are crying, our dads look thrilled and proud to be grandpas, and our cousins are all excited to become aunts and uncles to our baby.
Val gives me a big hug and says, “I knew our kids would grow up together like we did. We’ve got three new babies on the way now.”
“Don’t you mean, five?” Sveta asks, patting her enormous belly.
Val laughs. “I’m not counting them, since they’re going to be arriving any second now. I don’t think you’re going to be pregnant for much longer. You’ve probably only got about twenty-four hours left.”
“I still have a few months to go,” she says. “Don’t say things like that, Val. It’s not my fault I’m so big. There’s two,” she reminds him.
He laughs at her horrified look. Vitya kisses her and places his hand on her stomach. “You’re going to do great,” he tells her. “They’ll be out before you know it.”
Sveta looks up at him like he’s lost his mind. “Only a man would say something like that. I’m going to say those exact words to you if you ever have to squeeze two plums out your pee hole.”
Vitya pales at the idea and whispers a quick Jesus at the idea of it while every man’s balls within hearing distance retract a little bit at the thought of all that pain.
“You do know you’re not squeezing them out your pee hole, right?” Luka asks with a laugh.
Sveta tries not to laugh and fails. “It was the closest comparison. Stop laughing at me. I’m about to give birth to two babies. I deserve your sympathy, not your teasing.”
“If anyone can do it, it’s you,” Val tells his twin.
Yelena smiles at Sveta and says, “Absolutely. You’re going to do great, and then all our babies will grow up together, just like we all did.”
I hug my wife tighter and look around at my cousins, my best friends, the people I love most in this world, and I’m so excited to be able to give this to our children. I can’t wait to see them all running around and playing together.
More people crowd around to congratulate us while Wallace runs around, thrilled at all the attention and so many arms to throw tennis balls for him. Dario, Alessandro, and Tony all come over to hug Talia, and when Evgeny gives me a hug, I notice he’s already ditched his jacket and rolled up the sleeves of his white dress shirt. The newly tattooed Grim Reaper on his forearm is on full display. He officially joined the Bratva a couple of weeks ago after turning eighteen, and even though he’s applied to colleges, he’s made it clear the Bratva and family will always come first.
Pulling my wife closer, we spend the next several hours laughing and dancing and eating, celebrating with our families, and it feels perfect, like my life was always leading me right to this very moment, right to this amazing woman in my arms. With her sitting in my lap and everyone we love around us and Wallace happily lying at our feet, I have everything I could ever need or want. The Amaya Cartel didn’t break us, Miguel and his fucking daily beatings didn’t destroy us—all it did was bring her into my life and make me stronger.
Pulling her closer, I bury my face in her neck, breathing in the scent of my wife while I rest my hand on her stomach, already anxious for it to grow bigger.
“I had no idea I could be this happy,” I murmur against her ear.
“Uh-oh,” she says with a soft laugh. “If you’re not careful, you’re going to start composing really upbeat, poppy music.”
“Not a chance,” I say, kissing her neck. “But there will be more beauty in it and less sadness, thanks to you.” I keep my face close to her skin, wanting a piece of her in every inhale I take. “I’m sorry I can’t play you your song yet. I wanted it to be your wedding present.”
She rests her hand on mine, gives it a soft squeeze, and then lightly drags her finger over my taped-up knuckles. “I can’t wait to hear it.” She turns and kisses me. “I love you, Max. I can’t believe you wrote me a song, and I know I’ll love every note of it, but all I need is you.”
I smile and kiss her back. “And all I need is you.”
* * *
Four Months Later
“Max,” Talia pants from where I have her tied to my piano. She’s on her back, legs spread wide, pussy fully exposed and right in front of me. She’s swollen and dripping her arousal onto the beautiful Fazioli piano she’d surprised me with for our house in Oregon.
I ignore her whimpers and play another étude. My hand is almost fully healed, but there’s still some stiffness, still some clumsiness that wasn’t there before, and I’ve become relentless at trying to get rid of it. The splayed-out pussy before me is my reward for all the practice.
As I play the familiar notes, I run my eyes over her swollen cunt and then up the little round belly that always makes me smile and finally to the tits that have become swollen with pregnancy and even more sensitive than usual. Her thighs quiver while she waits, and the impatient growl she gives makes me smile even bigger.
When I don’t miss a note, I lean closer, letting the heat of my breath hit her sensitive skin as she rocks her hips. The scent of her has my cock straining against my jeans, pre-cum already coating my head, and a raw, feral need building inside me that soon I won’t be able to control. For now, though, I run my tongue up her slit, savoring the taste of her with a groan before wrapping my lips around her clit and giving a suck.
“Jesus,” she gasps, unable to do anything but take what I’m giving her. The restraints are soft against her skin. She’s not in any pain, just unable to move and completely at my mercy—exactly where she should always be.
I told myself I wasn’t going to let her come for another thirty minutes, but she tastes too fucking good for me to stop. Her sexy moans fill the room, her pouty lips yell my name, begging me to not stop, and my willpower dissolves. Gripping her hips, I spread her wider, wanting and needing more of her. I lick and suck every inch of her before sinking my tongue in deep. She bucks against me, trying like hell to ride my face, and her frustrated groans let me know the restraints are doing their job.
“God, you taste amazing,” I growl, lapping at her sweet cunt until her whole body is shaking and the only word she can form is my name. She’s right where I want her. Not letting up but being careful to not push her over the edge, I undo my jeans, fisting my cock and pulling it free with a groan. Before I stand, I give her swollen, achy clit one last lick and then kiss her pregnant belly.
“Max,” she moans, dark eyes half-lidded and a beautiful flush to her face.
“Hmm?” I ask, kissing and sucking a line up her body. I flick my tongue over one of her nipples. “You okay, baby?”
“No,” she whines. “And you damn well know it.”
I laugh, loving when her feisty side comes out to play. “Do I?” I ask, giving her a long, hard suck.
“If you don’t get your dick inside me right fucking now, I may never speak to you again,” she shouts at me.
I let go of her tit so I can laugh. “Oh, sweetheart, it’s like you don’t know me at all.” I grab onto her hips and press the head of my cock to her dripping wet slit, letting her feel the pressure against her aching pussy but refusing to push in. I keep teasing her and ask, “You’re never going to speak to me again?”
Her frustrated whimpers and throaty moans are the sweetest music, and when I give her nipple a soft bite, she lets out another exquisite shout that has my cock growing even bigger as I rock my hips just enough to part her lips.
“Maybe I’ll just jerk off and come all over your body. I could leave you tied up here for another hour, teasing you while I keep practicing.” I whisper the words against her wet nipple and then give it another bite that has her straining against the straps and mewling with raw need.
“No, not again,” she begs, reminding me of the last time I did that to her.
I laugh and kiss her tit. “But it was so much fun,” I tell her.
“For you,” she mutters.
I ignore the tone and say, “You remember how hard you came?” I groan at the memory. “You made such a mess on my piano.” I push into her just a tiny bit more. “You sure you don’t want to do that again?”
“No, please,” she begs. “I need this. I need you .”
Kissing my way up her chest, I don’t stop until my mouth is hovering over hers, both hands braced on the piano, her pregnant belly pressing against my abs, and her tight pussy gripping the head of my cock like it’ll never let go.
“Please,” she begs again as I slowly kiss the corner of her mouth, first one side and then the other. She opens for me, wanting my tongue, my lips, my spit, everything she can get from me.
“God, I love you like this—my pregnant wife, half-crazed with lust, desperate for me to make it better.” Her soft whimpers mixed with the heat of her breath against my lips gnaws away at the last of my restraint, and when I slide into her, feeding her my cock one slow inch at a time, she comes before I’m even halfway in. Her pussy clenches down on me, trying like hell to suck me in deeper as she falls apart and screams my name.
With a deep groan, I slam in the rest of the way, intensifying her orgasm as my own quickly builds. Her tits and belly press against me, driving me crazy with each thrust I give her.
“Max,” she whines, and I know what she wants before she even has to voice the words. Reaching up, I undo the strap that’s restraining her arms, and as soon as she’s free, her arms are wrapping around me, pulling me closer as she kisses me with a fierceness that has my hips speeding up. Each thrust is deep and hard enough to make her drag her nails down my back as her second orgasm starts to build.
This time when she lets out the moan that I’d recognize anywhere and that’s already inspired more than one song, I give in and join her. Her pussy squeezes my pulsing cock, both of us lost in the other. Until I met her, I never knew a pleasure like this existed. My wife is everything to me, my entire world, my light in the darkness, and my dream for the future. She’s all I want. She’s all I’ll ever want.
I stay inside her, holding her and kissing her as both our bodies start to come down, and when I feel like I can move again, I carefully undo the last of the straps and pull her into my lap so we’re both facing the piano again. I kiss her neck and place my fingers on the keys.
“I have a surprise for you,” I say, and then I start to play her the song I started composing for her in the basement. My right hand prevents me from being able to play it exactly how I want, but that’s the perfectionist in me, and I shove the thoughts away and instead focus on putting everything I have into each note I play. I imbue each note with the love I feel for my wife, the terror I’d felt when I couldn’t protect her, along with the sweet, heartbreaking moments of falling in love with her and holding her hand while she slept—I put everything I have into it, the most precious gift I can think to give her.
When I play the last note, I let my hands rest on the keys. Talia lifts her hands and places them on mine, and it takes me a second to realize she’s crying.
“You didn’t like it?” I whisper, feeling a pain in my heart that threatens to shatter it into a million pieces.
“What?” she whispers, turning to face me. Her cheeks are streaked with tears and her voice is shaky and she’s still a mess from being strapped to the piano, and I don’t think she’s ever looked as beautiful to me as she does right here in this moment.
“That was the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard,” she says as more tears fall down her cheeks. “I still can’t believe you wrote that.”
“For you,” I say. “I wrote it for you. It’s yours. Only yours.”
“I love it so much,” she whispers.
“It would’ve broken my heart if you didn’t,” I admit with a soft laugh.
She turns enough so she can cup my face and pull me close enough to kiss. “I love it,” she repeats. “And aside from the baby growing inside me, it’s the most beautiful gift I’ve ever been given.”
I kiss her and rest my hand on her stomach. “ Svetik moy ,” I whisper. “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she whispers back.
We both turn at the sound of Wallace barking. The wall of windows gives us an amazing view of the ocean, and Talia had been right, it’s the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. Her dad surprised us by building this house on their property. It’s far enough down the beach to give us privacy, but close enough to easily hop on a four-wheeler and visit everyone. I never bothered questioning Vasily about the fact that the construction crew was hired before I’d suggested a half-year compromise. I know how much his daughter means to him, and I can’t fault a man for that. I’m sure I’ll be the same way once our little girl is born.
“Sveta sent me more pictures this morning,” Talia says, her fingers lazily running over mine. “Jake and Seryozha are so cute.” She gives a soft laugh. “There’s a photo in there of Vitaly holding them, and I’ve never seen him look happier.”
“Of course he’s happy,” I say with a laugh. “That’s two more grandkids to corrupt with sugar. He’s going to be putting an ice cream cone in their hands as soon as they can grip things.”
She laughs and nods her head in agreement. “Do you miss being there with them?”
“I’d miss you more,”’ I tell her. I look out at the ocean and around our beautiful home before turning my eyes to my wife. “I love being here with you, I love the life we have here, and I love seeing where you grew up. I don’t ever want to be anywhere that you aren’t. I miss my family, but it’s not like we can’t keep in touch. Niki is flying out next week with Damien, and then we’ll be flying there once Lara goes into labor so we can meet our newest niece. I’m fine, baby. I promise.”
She nods and smiles when she hears Wallace bark again. Bran took him for a walk earlier, and he must be throwing the ball for him on the beach now.
Before I let her get up, I wrap my arms around her and kiss her cheek. The truth is I love my life here, and I love it back home. The Medvedevs have welcomed me in, and the new bear tattoo that Nikolai inked on my chest is proof of it. I may not have all the dexterity back in my hand, but it’s working well enough to shoot a gun, and I’ve earned the respect of their men over the last few months. Our families work well together, and I think it’s an alliance that will only grow with time.
“Come on, baby,” I tell her, patting her cute ass and kissing her belly when she stands. “Let’s go meet Bran and Wallace. I need to practice the new signs I’ve been learning. My brother and Damien are way ahead of me. I need to catch up.”
Talia smiles and cups my face. “I love you, Max Melnikov.”
I grin up at her, resting my hands on her pregnant belly. “I love you, Talia Melnikov.”
The smile she gives me lights up her whole face, and all I can do is stare, unable to comprehend how I could be so lucky. I’ll never deserve her, I’ve known that from the beginning, and I’ll spend every day being grateful that she chose me anyway.
I kiss her stomach and then help her get dressed before throwing my own clothes back on. We leave the room together, slowly making our way downstairs. Every room has a view of the ocean, and no matter how many times I see it, I never get tired of it. One of the first things we’d done after moving in was knock beach sex off our sex to-do list, and it was just as much fun as I imagined it’d be. And, even though we’re constantly adding to the list, we often repeat that one.
“Don’t forget we’re supposed to go out on the boat this weekend with everyone. Allie’s already texted me a reminder,” she says with a laugh.
“I won’t forget, baby,” I tell her.
“And don’t forget my babushka wants us to have supper with her tomorrow night.”
I smile and kiss her head. “We’ll be there. She promised me she’d make medovik . I wouldn’t miss that dessert for the world,” I say, letting out a groan at the thought of the layered honey cake. “It almost tastes as good as your pussy.”
“Please don’t tell my grandma that.”
I laugh and shake my head. “Never, baby. I promise.”
Threading my fingers through hers, I lead her out onto the large deck and then down the small trail that leads to the beach. The waves crash in front of us, and Talia’s laugh carries on the breeze when she sees Wallace jump into the water to retrieve the tennis ball Bran threw.
When he comes out, he shakes his fur and then wags his tail like crazy when he spots us. Bran notices and turns his head to look. Lifting a hand when he sees us, he signs a quick hi and uses both our name signs. He’d given me mine shortly after I married his sister. It’s the letter M held close to his chest before he moves the hand outward with a quick wiggle of his fingers. The piano playing bit was obvious, but Talia had to explain to me that the fist at the chest means strength. It felt a lot like an honor being given that name, and the very unmanly hug I’d given him surprised us both. I’m still working on that balance between work me and family-man me. I have a feeling it’s only going to get worse after our daughter is born.
We walk towards the water while Wallace takes off running again, and I can’t imagine a life more perfect than this. We went through hell to get here, but every second of that darkness was worth it because it brought me here, to the love of my life and to a future that I can’t wait to step into. Pulling her closer, I kiss her head and breathe in the salty sea air. With my wife and baby in my arms and the song I composed for her still playing in my head, I know with absolute certainty that we’re ready for whatever life has in store for us next.
Sitting down, I pull her into my lap, wrapping my arms around her and resting my hands on her round stomach.
“I can’t wait until I can feel her kick,” I say, lightly caressing her with my thumb while my palms stay pressed to the firm bump that I’m still in absolute awe of.
“The doctor said you might start feeling her in a few weeks,” Talia says, placing her hands on mine and lightly stroking my skin. She loves my hands. She’s always touching them, and now that I can use the right one, she’s taking full advantage of it. When you mix her pregnancy hormones in, it means I’ve been a very busy man, and I couldn’t be happier about it.
She leans her head against my chest and watches Bran throw the ball for Wallace while I think about all the things I’m going to do to her before we go to sleep. When I start to whisper all the things I’m planning into her ear, she smiles and lets out a sexy moan.
“You are perfect, svetik moy ,” I tell her because she is, and so is the life we’re building together, and I wouldn’t change a single thing about it.
