Chapter 19

Damien

By the time we leave her grandma’s house, I have a stomach full of pie and ice cream and I’m more convinced than ever that I want to join this family as soon as possible.

“I like having grandmas,” I tell Sitka as I wrap my arm around her and pull her in close to me. “Both of yours are really nice and they love to feed me.”

She wraps her arm around my waist and rests her head on my chest while we walk at a lazy pace, heading towards one of the walking paths that lead down to the beach. It’s dark, but her grandma and mom both have fairy lights strewn all over the back of their houses, so it’s impossible to get lost.

“You’ve really never met your grandparents?”

“No,” I tell her. “My dad’s parents were pretty awful and my mom’s weren’t much better. Based on what little I’ve heard about them, they weren’t worth knowing. That’s okay, though. I get yours now, so it all turned out okay.”

“Both my grandmas really love you,” she says, “And Boris will too once he’s allowed to talk to you.”

I grin at that and lead her over to an Adirondack chair that’s sitting off to the side.

It’s in the soft, loose sand and in no danger of getting overtaken by water, so I sit down and pull her onto my lap.

The ocean is hidden by darkness, stretching out in front of us with only the crashing of waves reminding us that it’s there.

She relaxes against me while I wrap my arms around her, shielding her from the dropping temperature and cool wind. She’d grabbed a hoodie before we left her mom’s, but when I lean my face close to hers, I feel how cold the tip of her nose is when it brushes my cheek.

“You need to go inside?” I ask.

“No way,” she says. “I’m perfect right where I’m at.”

I couldn’t agree more, so I tighten my grip on her and breathe in the fresh, wild scent of her. “Where’d Nyx run off to?” I ask while dragging my nose along her hair as it whips around us.

“I’m guessing she ran home so she could cuddle up with my mom on the couch. She really loves to snuggle.”

I grin at that and nip at her ear. “That was my immediate thought when you sent me a picture of her. I thought I bet that dog’s a huge cuddler.”

“Yeah, she’s not at all how you expect her to be if you’re just judging her by looks.”

“Oh, I have no doubt she’d rip my throat out in less than a minute if she thought I was a threat to you,” I tell her. “She’s nice to me because you are.”

“Hmm,” she murmurs before tipping her head to give me better access to her neck. “Better keep me in a good mood then.”

The deep laugh she pulls from me is effortless.

I’ve never met anyone who makes me feel as good as she does.

Whether it’s when I’m buried so deep inside her I feel like we’re one person or when it’s just us goofing around and laughing, she makes me happy.

I know that for the rare gift it is, and I’m not the kind of man who will ever forget or lose sight of how goddamn lucky I am to have her.

I ghost my lips along her neck, savoring the sound of her whimper when she feels the wet heat of my tongue and starts to squirm in my lap.

Keeping my lips close to her skin, I ask, “And what can I do to put you in a good mood right now?”

“I’m already in a pretty good mood,” she whispers, digging her fingers into my shoulder when I nip at the skin right behind her ear.

“Anything I can do to make it better?” I kiss a line down the curve of her neck, stopping to suck when I reach her shoulder.

I’m obsessed with her taste, not just when I bury my head between her legs, but every part of her, and when I run my tongue along her collarbone, she whispers my name and threads her fingers in my hair.

When she doesn’t answer, I let my teeth graze her upper chest. “Anything at all?”

Her words are breathy when she finally says, “Didn’t we mention something about the forest?”

I grin even though she can’t see it and give her another suck before feigning confusing and asking, “Did we? I’m not sure I remember that. What did we say we’d do in the forest?”

Her frustrated grunt manages to be both sexy and adorable.

“We said we’d have sex in the woods,” she reminds me.

“It’s starting to ring a bell, but I’m not sure I remember the details. You want me to lay you down right here and slide into you?”

“No,” she whispers, rocking her ass against my ever-growing cock.

“No?” I ask, giving a soft laugh. “That’s hurtful, Sitka.”

She laughs and gives my hair a soft tug. “This isn’t the woods,” she reminds me. “I want you to chase me, and if you catch me, you might get a reward.”

I drag my nose back up her throat while I cup the back of her neck.

Holding her firmly in place, I say, “That’s incredibly kind of you, sweetheart, but I have a better idea.

” Her breath hitches when she feels my teeth graze the delicate skin I’m trailing over.

Kissing my way along her jaw, I say, “You’re going to get off my lap and start running back up that path and into the woods.

” I kiss the corner of her mouth before slowly working my way along her bottom lip.

“I’m going to chase you, and when I catch you,” I smile against her parted lips, “because I will catch you, besyonok, I’m going to fuck you until nothing else exists for you except me and the big cock your sweet little pussy is wrapped around. ”

“Jesus,” she whispers against my mouth, making me smile again.

“Pray all you want, Sitka, this is still going to end with you filthy and writhing beneath me.”

“You have to give me a head start,” she quickly says.

“Of course. It wouldn’t be very much fun if I immediately caught you.” When she tries to get off my lap, I squeeze her ass and hold her still. “Try not to scream when I find you. I’d rather not explain this to your mom.”

I laugh at the horrified look she gives before smacking her ass. “And be careful. Call my name if you need me.” Before I let her go, I give her a wink and say, “Otherwise, I’m going to assume you’re fine and I won’t hold back.”

When her eyes search mine, I see a lot of things in them, but fear isn’t one of them. My adrenaline-junkie girl is desperate to get off my lap and start running, and I’m just as geared up to catch her and fuck her sweet ass into the ground.

Her eyes stay locked on mine until I say, “Run, Sitka,” reminding her that she needs to get moving.

With an excited grin, she scurries off my lap, gives me one last look, and then turns and takes off running.

I watch her race up the path we just used until she’s completely out of sight.

Standing, I jog after her, catching a quick glimpse of her shirt before she disappears between two trees that mark the beginning of one of their trails.

The corner of my mouth twitches while my cock strains against my jeans. Slowing down, I take my time getting to the edge of the woods. I’d been telling the truth about not wanting this to be over too quickly. I want this to last, and I intend on enjoying every single second of it.

When my boots hit the start of the trail, digging into the loose dirt that’s riddled with tire tracks, I stop and scan the darkness in front of me.

My smile grows when I don’t hear any signs of her.

Nothing but the chirping of insects and the sound of wind rushing through the conifer trees surrounding me.

The canopy above is so thick it drowns out what little light the moon was offering.

A soft rustling has me cocking my head and walking deeper into the forest that at night feels a lot more like something out of a Grimm’s fairytale than the peaceful setting it is during the day.

Keeping my footsteps soft, I let my instincts guide me, hoping I don’t end up being the one who needs to be rescued after getting my ass lost in here.

It’ll be a humiliation I’m not sure I’ll ever overcome if I’m the one who has to shout her name for help.

The rhythmic crash of waves grows softer as I walk further in, but it’s always there, a constant moody background noise that matches the atmosphere of this place perfectly.

The cold, salty air lingers like a second skin while the scent of moss and pine surrounds me, making me crave Sitka all the more.

When I hear another soft rustling sound, I veer in that direction, following it down another side trail.

An owl hoots in the distance before I hear the unmistakable sound of a branch cracking.

Grinning, I keep heading towards it while my heart rate picks up and excitement hits me hard.

We might have to make trips out here just so we can do this.

Either that or we’ll be making regular visits to the house in the country my family owns.

There’s lots of land there, easily enough for me to chase her down.

A small laugh escapes when I make it another twenty feet before I hear her take off running.

Branches crack, leaves rustle, and all the insects grow silent as Sitka tries like hell to put distance between us.

Following after her, I keep a steady pace, but we’re so deep in the woods that it’s impossible to see much at all.

Grabbing my phone, I turn on the flashlight and hold it out, scanning the trees around me.

“Cheater,” I hear her yell from somewhere off to my right.

“The only rule was for you to not scream,” I remind her. “We never said anything about flashlights.”

She’s quiet while I hold the light up, slowly scanning the trees.

This would be a lot easier if there weren’t so many ferns and shrubs creating hiding places for her to use.

I’m just about to scan the area behind me when I see a flash of her red hoodie emerge from one of the thick ferns before she takes off running again.

Fog has started to creep in, giving her a little bit of cover, but it’s only a matter of time before I catch her.
