Epilogue - Fletcher
Seven Years Later
“Mommy, I need my Valentine’s Day cookies for school.” Our oldest, Lilah, rushes into the kitchen.
“They’re right here, sweetheart.” Ruby pulls out a box of sweet, kid-friendly cartoon cookies for Lilah to take to school.
Ruby still makes the adult versions, but only at the candy shop and only by special order. Our candy shop has quadrupled its sales since the year the dick cookies went viral. I even gave in, opening an online candy store less than a week after that Valentine’s Day.
“Does everyone have their Valentine’s Day cards ready to hand out to their classmates?” I ask Benny and Kyler, our twin five-year-olds.
“Right here. In our backpacks.” Both Kyler and Benny spin around, showing me their backpacks.
“Good, because mommy and daddy need some alone time for Valentine’s Day.” I put my arms around Ruby and whisper in her ear.
“Hurry up, kids.” She leans back into my arms. “Mommy needs Daddy really bad,” she whispers.
“I hope there’s never a time that you don’t need me, wife.”
“I will always need you, husband.”
