Chapter
Seventeen
Meg
“Bastard,” I swear as my coward of a husband flees
the house.
My hands clench and unclench as I try to deal with the anger
I feel. He’s treating me like an idiot who doesn’t know what she wants. I felt
his need. It rolls off him in waves. He wants to dominate me, and I want it,
too. Why can’t he trust me? Why can’t he trust himself?
“I don’t think you’re a whore,” Cian says quietly.
I turn and remember I’m alone with my slightly insane second
husband. My brain hurts. I say the only thing I can think to say. “Thanks.”
Cian’s expression is sweet. It’s hard to believe people get
him confused with Beck. “Beck’s always had a stick up his ass when it comes to
sex. You’ll have to forgive him. Please don’t kick him in the balls again. It
hurts me, too.”
I hadn’t realized it would affect Cian, too. I’d just been
enraged. “I’m sorry.”
He shrugs his broad shoulders. “It’s all right. He deserved
it. We should go to bed. Will you come with me? I was cold in there all alone.”
I hesitate. I don’t really know him. Or do I? Is he truly
the other side to the man I’ve started to fall for?
“I promise I won’t tie you up until you ask me,” he says
with an innocent look that makes me laugh.
I take his hand. Cian’s right. It’s a chilly night. It will
serve Beck right if I stay warm while he sleeps with the chickens.
Cian looks down at me. “I’m Cian. What’s your name?”
I walk straight into the bedroom, pull a pillow to my face,
and scream.
