CHAPTER 10
Kaelith growled throwing his phone on the passenger seat, his head spinning with both fury and white-hot rage. He underestimated Francis. Not only he lost two of his shipments worth billions but now the bastard was making a council to throw Kaelith off the underworld.
Kaelith almost pitied the man. He’d make him scream and cry when he’d get his hands on her. Slowly killing him and torturing every single council member who dared to go against him. There were two rules Kaelith go by—never have mercy on his enemies. And second—always follow the first rule.
Kaelith knew the day he stepped foot in this mafia world that this was not going to be easy, and he was not the boy to do easy things.
He preferred challenges, thrilling and dangerous ones.
And his trust in himself brought him near the pillars of success, as most feared man in underworld and worldwide.
He had both the looks and money to buy anything, with just a flick of his fingers. Women, cars, houses, buildings, he could even buy those two lost shipments once again only working a minute. But love….
Kaelith’s thoughts immediately were drifted away by certain Hazel-eyed beauty.
Her picture formed in his head as he pictured her sitting in the garden on the checkered pink mat, surrounded by flowers, hair braided in a bun and the crown of her head accessorized with delicate peonies.
Sunlight bathing her fair skin wearing a long white chiffon dress he brought for her last week.
His heart immediately halted for a second. Heart beat racing, and hold on steering wheel tightened. A lump of saliva formed in his throat and he was unable to breathe for a second. He wanted to see her. To hold her. To smell in her scent and bath in her presence.
But these past few days were hectic, too rough.
He steered the car in through the mansion gates and pulled into his driveway.
Today he was early, a lot earlier. It was only four in the evening and the thought of seeing Amara after so long thrilled him—minus the times he sneaked into the room at night.
A guard immediately opened the car door for him and bowed, but he took no notice and continued to stride inside. His feet automatically took him to the backyard where Amara usually spend most of her time.
His strides turned into sprint. Heart palpitating as he opened the door. What he excepted was to see Amara, hearing her giggles and conversations with Martha.
But what he wasn’t expecting was the empty backyard. Taken by confusion, he thought maybe she was in her room, painting or reading the books. Automatically his feet moved to the stairs, impatiently climbing up as he unbuttoned his blazer.
He hoped she ate lunch and took her medicines. And the paints he got for her, he hoped she liked them.
When he opened the door of her room in hopes of seeing her face, he was met with emptiness. The room was clean, and untouched. The canvas laid covered with cloth in the corner and the books were neatly placed on bedside table.
Kaelith frowned. Where was she? Frustratingly he ran his hand through his hair and cursed.
Deciding to check in the kitchen, he descended the stairs with rushed steps.
But when he found kitchen empty, his frustration was turned into concern and worry.
Storming outside, Kaelith beckoned the nearest guard with his finger.
“Mr. Luca.” The guard bowed his hands clasped in front of him.
“Where’s Amara?” He inquired.
The guard went stiff as he nervously glanced around. “Mrs. Luca a-and Martha left a w-while ago.”
Kaelith fisted his palms. The guard immediately started sweating. “What do you just say?” “They went for g-grocery shopping. Mrs. Luca—” the guard stuttered.
“Shopping?” Kaelith clench is his jaw and glared stonily at the poor guard.
The guard immediately took a step back in panic as Kaelith took a Intimidating step forward scaring the man.
“Who gave the permission?” Kaelith’s eyes lowered to the name tag on the guard’s chest and then back to his eyes. “Logan?”
He questioned with a threatening edge to his voice. Logan almost pissed in his pants by the way Kaelith was standing towering over him, looking like a demon possessed by hell’s fire.
A momentarily silence engulfed around them. It only stoked his anger. He knew it wasn’t Logan’ s fault, but at that moment he needed to blame someone.
“Get out of my sight.” His voice calm but cold as glaciers.
“I-I am sorry, Mr. Luca, this won’t happen again!
” Kaelith dismissed him with a wave of his hand and strode towards the door he walked in.
Driven by anger and concern, he grabbed the keys before throwing his blazer off his shoulder and started the car.
He must be too lenient with the little troublemaker, and this time he had put his love for her aside, and make her understand how things work in this world.
He cared for Amara, too much to the point he couldn’t just let her roam in streets unguarded after what happened to her.
***********
"Mr. Luca! Wait! Let me explain-" Martha's eyes widened with both fear and concern, her voice trembling as she beseeched, "Please, listen to me!" Her words were laced with a raw, heart-wrenching worry that only added to the tension of the situation.
Her hands fidgeted nervously as she watched Kaelith scooped Amara up into his arms, a mixture of surprise and embarrassment flashing across Amara’s face as she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck. People passing by began to gather around them, murmuring to themselves.
Kaelith's heart raced with anger feeling the weight of Amara in his arms. He couldn’t help but feel the rush of protectiveness and annoyance. How could she be so stupid? What if something happened to her? Or worse, what if one of his enemies take advantage of the situation?
Amra's heartbeat quickened as she lay cradled in Kaelith's arms, the unexpected turn of events leaving her flustered. She could feel the warmth of his embrace, and despite the embarrassment, she couldn't help but sense a reassuring comfort in his strength.
Kaelith's grip on Amara was like unforgiving, his arms wrapping around her with a steel-like hardness. She could feel the anger radiating from him through her own skin, turning her initial surprise into sheer, heart-pounding panic.
The door of his car was harshly jerked settling her in the passenger seat as his angry eyes looked down at her. His brows deepened and narrowed eyes looked like one of a snake's–sharp and venomous. Amara swallowed hard.
The chilled fall breeze whisked past her shoulders sending several goosebumps in their wake. The parking lot was empty, but she could feel the loud deafening silence, the atmosphere filled with thick tension. Martha sprinted behind before the guards quickly held her down.
"Take her back to the mansion." Kaelith ordered without taking his eyes off of Amara.
"Mr. Luca! It's not her fault-" Martha struggled but the guard just tightened his hold. Anxiousness flooded her veins as she looked at Mara with guilt as her eyes met Amara’s. Suddenly she regretted bringing her out.
"I said," Kaelith paused, his dark orbs glaring at Amara’s shivering frame. "Fucking take her back!” "What about her?!” Martha panicked as the guard dragged her to the opposite car. Martha screamed and thrushes to no avail.
"She needs to learn some rules..." Amara’s heart beat raced. Amara watched with trepidation as the guard carelessly threw panicked Martha into the car and drove away.
"R-Kaelith." She stuttered the instant he backed leaned down trapped her between his burly arms and the seat.
The proximity enticed the new panic, something that made every cell inside her body shiver with fright.
She gulped and tried to make herself as small as could slowly pulling her knees up to her chest avoiding his steely gaze but he only invaded her space as his angry orbs penetrated through her whole being.
The weight of his body and the gaze forced her to let out startled short breath.
"Listen to me, please..." she mumbled, trying–yet failing to make him listen. The man just glared at her.
"Kaelith..." she tried once again avoiding his gaze.
"Please-" a startled gasp left her mouth as Kaelith slammed his fist beside her head, the metal of the car denting. Her widened eyes looked shockingly at him as he closed his eyes and took deep breaths. She could tell he was losing control and that scared her even more. She never saw him like this. She couldn’t even tell why he was so angry.
After few breaths, Kaelith finally opened his eyes.
"I'm trying, Amara. I'm trying so fucking hard." He said in his deep, gravelly voice. "But you always make it unbearable." The bulk of his frame intimidated her. He reminded her of a big bad wolf trapping his prey between his claws. And the way his gaze penetrated through her, it reeked dominance.
"You make me do things, Amara. You make me care. Fuck!" He slammed another fist against the car and she yelped.
"I'm sorry..." she didn’t even know what she was apologizing for. But she needed him to calm down. "K-Kaelith..."
"Don't say my name." He narrowed his eyes so fractionally she almost could see the irritation in those orbs. Her breath hitched at his next words. "It makes me... feel things." She looked unfounded at him. What did he just say? What did that mean? Kaelith clenched his jaw and leaned.
"I don't know what you did to me. But it's so hard to control, sweetheart. I tried not to care, for years, but I am at my limit now.”
"..." her heart beat was accelerating with speed of thousand miles per second.
"One moment I want to push you away, distance myself from your intoxicating presence, to never look in your eyes," he lightly shifted his fist to gently caress her hairs as she flinched at his touch. "But right now, I want to punish you so fucking bad."
"I-"
"You bring the devil in me, Amara. You make me a dangerous man.”
“"You're angry."
"If I say I want to kiss you right now, will you still say I'm angry?
" He brushed his thumb over her cold, numb lips.
Amidst the conversation, you hadn't noticed how his gaze had turned from raged to something sensual and hooded.
His face gave nothing away of his emotions but his eyes seemed like an open book.
She gulped trying to calm her heart.
“You don't mean it."
Kaelith leaned further, his thumb moving from her lips to the curve of her jaw as he traced her flesh there sending several tingles down their wake.
"How do you know?" He whispered, his voice mix of sensual desire and unspoken words. Her breaths quickened as she tried to comprehend his words.
Kaelith leaned in, his gaze unwavering and intense.
"Why don't we find out?" His words were a seductive invitation, laden with a magnetic pull that tugged at her senses.
He held her gaze, a mixture of longing and longing simmering in his eyes.
"Would you like it?" His voice was a velvet whisper, igniting a thousand thoughts and sensations within her.
Amara's entire body shook under the weight his heavy gaze. Her arms were pinned above her head, and her legs were trapped between his strong, manly thighs. As the realization settled in that there was no easy escape from this, her heart raced, and her mind spun with a whirlwind of emotions.
Her jaw clenched tightly.
