CHAPTER 77

"YOU PROMISED SHE?D BE SAFE! YOU FUCKING PROMISED!" Rafael bombarded in Kaelith’s office unannounced.

Kaelith’s jaw ticked a subtle frown of annoyance on his handsome face.

"And she will be," Kaelith said nonchalantly ignoring him.

Kaelith didn’t pay him any attention, all his focus was on his computer screen where he was looking at the files on Francis. If these filed were to be released in public, Donovon's reputation would be in ashes in less than an hour.

"HOW?! YOU LET THOSE FUCKERS TAKE HER!" Rafael slammed his fists on the table as Kaelith glared at him. Rafael looked dead in his brother’s eyes, his orbs dilating as his teeth clenched. "You said you won't let anyone touch her again!"

Kaelith tilted his head, remembering he also sent the video footage to Rafael a day ago, which explained why he was in Spain.

The videotape. Ever since Kaelith had seen that, he hadn't been able to sleep.

The pain and humiliation his little doll went through was bone-chilling.

It took every ounce in him to not do something irrational.

Lorcan reminded him he needed to pluck the problem from the roots not just the stem.

So, Kaelith waited. It was hard to have patience when he didn't have her by his side.

He missed her. Immensely. Drowning himself in alcohol at night and barking in the day like a mad dog. Slowly, the patience seemed to slip through his fingers. Anger, disappointment, fear... all coiled in one rope that was wrapped around his neck, choking him.

Taking a deep breath, Kaelith maintained an unwavering and stoic demeanor, masking any hint of emotion from his expressions.

His face remained a blank canvas, revealing nothing of his thoughts or feelings.

It was as if he had mastered the art of controlling his facial muscles to an expert level, ensuring his true emotions remained hidden beneath a composed exterior.

This calm and composed facade let those around him question what lay behind his impassive visage, eager to unravel the mystery that shrouded his true thoughts and intentions.

Whether in times of joy, sorrow, or anger, he preferred to be calm and in control.

Three days. Three fucking days and Kaelith had no idea where she was.

He had done everything he could to track Abigail down, yet there was no progress.

Even though there were some leads, they all led nowhere.

Kaelith never felt so helpless in his life.

His chest was heavy but the emotions swirling inside him were more turbulent.

The trap was made, now he was waiting for Abigail to step on it.

"Don?t tell me you never cared for her, you fucking lied—" Kaelith’s eyes narrowed shutting Rafael. He leaned forward, his pupils dilating.

"I am everything but a man who goes back on his words.

" He muttered deadly as his fists clenched tightly.

Amara. She was the only woman who had managed to have his emotions, and undoubtedly the only woman who would ever hold such a special place in his life.

From the very moment they crossed paths, an unbreakable bond was formed, one that felt destined and everlasting.

The mere thought of a world without her presence seemed unfathomable, for she had become his anchor—his home.

No other woman held the power to elicit such intense emotions within him, igniting a fire that burned with an unquenchable passion.

She remained and would forever remain the woman who held the key to his heart, the one who would forever be the pinnacle of his affections, the embodiment of love and devotion that knew no bounds. For her, he was ready to do everything. Even sin.

Rafael pulled himself away from the table and let out a mocking scoff running his hand through his hair as he threw an accusing glance at Kaelith.

"Man of words? Right now you're just a pathetic man who can’t even read the situation." He seethed. "She is kidnapped, and God knows what he might do to her."

Kaelith fixed his eyes firmly upon him, conveying a mixture of frustration, disappointment, and perhaps even a hint of anger.

The intensity and forcefulness with which his eyes locked onto his brother sent a clear message - Kaelith was not pleased with whatever it was that Rafael had done or said.

Time seemed to stand still as the weight of Kaelith’s glare reverberated in the air.

It was as if a storm was brewing within him.

"And what do you want me to do? Kill him? Burn him down? Tear him apart as he begs for his life?"

Rafael snarled.

"Do you not want to?"

"Do you want to?" A muscle underneath Rafael's eyes twitched as his fists tightened. “He was your friend, Rafael. You brought this upon her. You made her weak, you lost her and now you have no right to even worry about her.”

"I don?t fucking care what happens to him as long as Amara is here...safe. She has been through a lot, and I don't want her to go through all that again. But what did you do?" He growled walking to the table as he slammed his fist on the table. "You fucking ruined everything!"

Kaelith eyed his fist, resisting the urge to break the bones. Yet he just calmly leaned back on his seat and crossed his legs.

"Ruined? Ruined what? Your delusional world?

Or your plan?" Rafael stilled. Kaelith wanted to laugh at his face yet he just chuckled lowly which sounded more like a devil’s chuckle rather than a human.

Rafael felt his brain numbing, the pad of his fingers turning cold as a bead of sweat rolled down his back.

He was completely caught off guard, his eyes widening like portals to an abyss of shock, rendering him momentarily immobile. A chilling sensation enveloped his veins, his blood turning into icy tendrils in his veins.

Kaelith pushed back the chair, standing to his full height. Kaelith ’ s aura suddenly screamed domination as he took a step forward running his finger on the table as his sharp eyes focused on Rafael.

He smirked as he looked at his brother’s pale face.

"You were the one who let that bastard have his way with her because you wanted to divorce her," he stated. "You preferred to be a saint, be a victim so that you could blame her for cheating on you and divorcing her would be easier,” Kaelith’ s jaw ticked. “You had her raped, don’t think I don’ t know about your little tricks,” He continued.

“That day, you knew what Abigail was going to do and you let him, and when guilt trips you, you rushed her to the hospital, playing a good husband.”

“You had those filed all along, don’t you?

The videotape? Knowing damn well knowing I would kill him for touching Amara.

You were trying to find something against me, and when you couldn't, you turned our parents against me.

You knew I was in love with her, and yet you married her, just because you wanted to see me suffer," Adian instinctively took a step back, stumbling slightly.

Kaelith advanced another step. "I must admit, you did a commendable job, but do you truly believe that I am the only one on my knees here. .."

Rafael blinked as a lump of saliva formed in his throat. Kaelith took another step till he was just a foot away from him and tilted his head to the side. A scary smile lingered on his lips.

"You really think since you’re here, you’re safe? Think again, little brother… no madman walks into a lion’ s den knowing facing a calm lion is akin to standing before the silent storm.”

Rafael ’ s pale face reddened with anger. Kaelith chuckled. "Revenge tastes better than hatred, doesn?t it?"

"I-I..what—" Rafael stuttered. "How do..."

"How do I know?" Kaelith mused. "You shouldn?t be asking this, Rafael. If I don?t say anything that doesn’t mean I am ignorant, I am just taking my time keeping my facts straight."

Rafael shook his head, not believing a word as he angrily stomped.

"That does not prove anything. What can you do? Kill me? You cannot do anything to me." Rafael looked wide-eyed as Kaelith laughed.

"Kill you?" He laughed and whispered. "Don?t worry, little brother, I won’ t be this merciful." Rafael stumbled as darkness flashed before his eyes. His plan was ruined. Whatever he worked on for years was now in dust.

"By the way, I appreciated your mindset.

You willingly assisted Abigail in kidnapping her, despite knowing that I would never allow you to harm her.

Instead, you allowed him to handle the situation because you viewed him as an easier opponent.

" Rafael felt his whole world shaking. Kaelith felt anger simmering through his veins.

If it wasn ? t for Lorcan, Kaelith wondered how he exposed Rafael.

He had his doubts, but now they were all cleared.

Rafael’s knees trembled as he fell on his knees. His hands shaking. He felt everything slipping through his fingers, like sand and water.

Kaelith observed him. His anger rose as he crouched down. He fisted his hair making Rafael hiss and pulled his head back as he seethed. "Don?t ever play games with me. Don?t ever ever ever think that you’re capable." Rafael gulped, unable to form any word.

"And you think whatever you are doing will make it right?" Rafael muttered.

Kaelith chuckled lowly sending a chill down his spine. "I am not a good guy remember, I do what I want, I take what I want, I'm the selfish one, I don?t do the right thing."
