2. Melanie #2

But I was so close, the pressure was building too fast and I had to dig my nails into my palm when his lips creased my neck, ending in a kiss under my ear which shook me to my core.

“Hey Cas,” Kai said. “What do you think your precious Camille will say when Brandy steps out stinking of us?”

“Kai!” Caspian snapped, the desk rattling as he launched off it towards us.

Kai turned to look at him, and I didn’t have to see the deep lines on his face to tell he was pissed off.

“You don’t need to worry about it,” Sin murmured to me as he returned. His scent thickened, my desire to ask questions fading away as I sank into his hold.

This was what I wanted—to feel like I didn’t have to be strong or in control because I had to take care of my mum, earn money, or manage the chaos that was my sister.

To have an alpha carry me so I could relax.

Though preferably when I didn’t need to pay attention to everything going on around me because I didn’t know if I was really ‘safe’ with them, either.

Caspian grabbed Kai’s upper arm, trying to force him off of me. But Kai dug his fingers in harder, and I winced as he instantly laughed.

“Are you ready to scent mark her again?” Kai teased his alpha, and my heart ached as bitterness flowed from him.

A growl ripped from Caspian, and Sin sighed against the back of my neck as he drew soft circles over my stomach.

“I apologise, Melanie. We never stopped the growing pains.”

“What does that mean?” I asked, as I tipped my head back to look at him.

“It means I don’t want to spoil the fucking surprise,” Kai said, scowling at his alphas. “Isn’t it so much more fun if we don’t make Brandy nervous before your big fucking reveal?”

“Don’t say it like that,” Caspian threatened as he reared over his omega.

“What’s going on?” I asked Sin.

“My sister is well enough to attend the celebrations. She’s heard a lot about our recent developments, and Kai appears to be as excited as Caspian regarding your introduction,” Sin said flatly. He was being even more careful with his words, and I couldn’t work out what he was actually saying.

I remembered reading that Sin had a sister who was chronically ill, but I didn’t expect to meet her. I hadn’t expected to meet any of their family, and look how that ended up.

“Yeah, too fucking right,” Kai scoffed. “I can’t wait for the shitshow. I’m already looking forward to when—”

A snarl cracked from Caspian, but Kai just smirked at him.

There was a pause as they stared, weighing each other up.

Sin brushed the back of his gloved fingers over the line of my hip, slipping to my thigh, pulling me away from the conversation.

“Why do you have to be such a dickhead?” Caspian glared at his omega, and he couldn’t have missed the flicker of hurt which dashed across Kai’s face before he resumed his cocky persona.

“Come here,” Caspian growled at me, glowering in exactly the same way he had every other time we’d met. It didn’t matter how pumped up he was or how much he let loose. He still looked at me as if I’d come to destroy his life.

“I’m pretty happy here, thanks,” I said, wiggling between Kai and Sin.

Even though I needed Caspian to mark me more than the others, their bodies were warm, and my knee-length dress was thin enough to feel all their bumps and grooves.

Though I wanted them tighter and closer.

I wanted them to press hard into me and not let me go.

“Why don’t you come here?” I asked him.

I had a sudden flash of the image when I first saw him, where he thrust his cock deep into Kai’s mouth as Kai rode Sin. Standing up, we couldn’t do it. But if we were lying in bed like we’d been before Kai had fucked me…

“What the fuck are you thinking about?” Caspian asked darkly as he stepped in close. “I can smell your pussy from a fucking mile away.”

“Isn’t that the point?” I asked as Kai and Sin both moved away, leaving me completely exposed.

My back dripped with vanilla, my front ran heavy with amaretto, and as I stood in front of Caspian, my heart trembled, waiting for his caramel.

I didn’t know where he was going to touch me. Last time it was the back of my neck, but he’d looked so infuriated that he might not even touch my bare skin.

“We could always go up to your bedroom if you want more time?” Kai purred to Caspian, and a mix of pleasure and caution wound through me. Maybe they all had their own rooms in the house.

“Not a fucking chance,” Caspian growled.

“I guess you’re backing off scared again?” Kai egged him on. “What with Camille here and everything? We wouldn’t want to disappoint Sin’s sister , after all,” Kai pressed as he looked at me like he was expecting something.

“You know what it is though, Brandy?” he asked, his gaze darkening again. “It’s because my alpha knows that as soon as we get that pretty dress off, there’ll be no stopping him.”

I had to stay calm, but I had no idea how to stop my excitement curling in my scent. It was difficult to hold back my perfume as Caspian’s spiked aura shook around us.

“Stop getting so fucking wound up,” he growled at me. “You wanted this,” Caspian said as he raised his hand to his mouth as he turned to me. “This one’s on you.”

He kept his attention fixed on us as he extended his tongue. He licked slow strokes over his palm, sending trembles of lust rushing through me.

Caspian’s glare deepened as he reached for me, exposing his thick lips, wet with his saliva. I knew exactly how powerful his kisses could be. I wanted to take the risk and bend towards him, especially when he reared over me again, looking like he was ready to strangle me if I said the wrong thing.

If I kissed him, he might bite me in a rage, and my omega instincts flared up at the idea of him going out of control.

I thought he was aiming for my throat, so I tilted my head back, but his hand travelled downwards.

With his palm coated in his caramel salvia, he pressed firmly against my chest. My breath caught as his fingers rode my collarbone, the heel of his palm squashed against my cleavage.

Caspian’s lips drew back over his teeth in a low rumble as he leaned forward, and my nerves shattered.

Fear, passion, need, excitement—all of them took me over as he swooped down further, and I gasped as his hot lips met my soft throat.

Heat exploded through me, and a moan echoed between us, mine muted as Caspian pressed even harder, tasting me.

“You don’t have the fucking upper hand here, no matter what you do,” he growled before he ran his tongue over the ridge of my throat.

Another moan escaped me as I reached out, gripping his arm for support. The pressure kept building. I thought I was going to perfume again. I wasn’t completely sure how to stop it, but I held my breath as his aura vibrated through my chest.

My legs grew weaker, and my senses blew up with lush caramel. I let myself go, slick leaking from my pussy, my heart thundering so loud he must have felt it in his tongue.

As he reached the tip of my chin, he pulled back, and I choked as I released the breath I was holding.

“That’s all you get,” he said, like it wasn’t so much more than I’d ever hoped for.

I didn’t understand why Caspian suddenly looked so calm when I was burning with need. The line he’d traced with his tongue sizzled with sparks as I lifted a trembling hand to ring the warm mark he left behind.

“If anyone challenges me about you being my mate, I’m not going to defend you. You’re on your own after that shit.” He wiped the saliva off on the wide shoulder of my dress, though his eyes stayed glued to the patch on my chest. “We just need you for your pussy, nothing else.”

He sneered at the sight of the stain. “One more event and the Selection Ceremony, and then we’re fucking done with you. Don’t think there’s anything else coming after this.”

Anger whipped through me, drowning out the pain which stabbed me at his words.

“I’m only here to complete my job and get my money. I don’t need you for anything else either. As long as you keep up your end of the agreement,” I said.

I wasn’t going to tell them about Zania’s money. I didn’t want to give them any other excuse to get rid of me when they were my only way to get to her.

He paused, his lips parting like he was going to argue. We stared at each other as he considered it, and I could have urged him on, told him to give me whatever thoughts were racing behind his rage. Because I wanted some honesty.

Instead, he growled, turning from me, instantly striding away through the office door.

“For fuck’s sake,” Kai muttered as his hand swept over the patch Caspian had left. “Honestly, and he complains about me being the dickhead.”

He couldn’t get rid of me just because he hurled cruel words at me. None of them could.

Kai bunched his sleeve, dabbing it to my chest.

“You don’t have to do that,” I said, placing my hand over his. Whenever they were kind to me, it made the situation worse.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” he snapped, knocking my hand away. “I’m not having people pay more attention to the marks on your body. My dress has to be centre stage. That fucking bruise on your cheek is bad enough.”

Maybe I didn’t understand Kai, but it felt like he was comforting me in his own way. Though I knew he wouldn’t admit it.

As he made slow strokes over my chest, he scowled while his other hand seamlessly slipped into mine.

“Stay still,” he murmured as he leaned in close. I didn’t miss the way he squeezed my fingers, and I was sure he saw how I softened for him. “I guess that will do. It’s only my design that matters anyway,” he grumbled, nodding with a rare seriousness.

His eyes flicked to my cheek, dancing over the bruise again, and he sighed.

“It’s not that bad,” I said softly.

“Yeah, sure, keep telling yourself that. You know how hard someone has to hit you for it to get like that? I mean, seriously, you’re fucking—”

I squeezed his hand in return. I didn’t know how I did it, but my aura crept out towards him, tentatively reaching for him with my energy.

He stilled as it brushed him, and my back straightened in surprise that I managed it.

“I’m really okay,” I replied, trying to soothe him the same way Sin soothed me.

Kai huffily blew away a strand of hair which had fallen from his tight chignon. “Whatever, come on,” he said. He tugged at my hand, acting as if it was natural for him to keep clasping me as he turned, aiming for the door.

My heart burst at how affectionately he was treating me, even if he was being shy about it.

Maybe it was only for this moment, but I wanted to savour it as much as possible. Because Kai’s kindness felt like it could vanish in a second.

A smile spread my lips, confidence building inside me as Sin strode behind us. It was the first time I’d felt accepted by them both.

I glanced back, holding out my other hand, asking Sin to take it. The silken cotton of his gloves stroked my fingers as he curled his around mine. With the two of them backing me up, I was sure I could take on a storm and come out the other end kicking.
