I NEED A DRINK
KYLE
M y mouth went sour seeing Anna and Caleb stare at each other for longer than six seconds. I took a deep breath and stepped in front of Anna, blocking Caleb’s view with my back to him.
“Are you okay, An?” I asked, my voice soft and kept stepping side to side to block Caleb’s view. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a broader back like his, so he kept poking his head around. “Let’s get you to your room, yeah? Alice can stay with us?—”
“Move!” Caleb held my arm and dragged me behind his back, his eyes narrowing on me. “I just discovered I fucked Aaron’s mom.”
“Damn, mama.” He looked at Anna’s face, which was drained of color. “I didn’t think you’d be his mom.”
“Then what did you think?” I said, crossing my arms. “I bet nothing.”
He rolled his eyes at me. “I thought she was his aunt.”
“I don’t understand.” Anna blinked, shaking her head. “Y-you were with Aaron? I… I didn’t know he had an ex like you.”
My brows went up, and so did Caleb’s. But Anna quickly continued, stepping closer to him than I’d like, “I mean, I didn’t know it was you. And I…”
For Christ’s sake, this was going nowhere .
“Both of you,” I said, separating them and meeting their eyes. “You need to get a drink.”
“Wait a minute, Kyle.” Anna asked, narrowing her gaze at me. “Why were you sneaking up on us in the morning?”
Caleb smirked as he wrapped his arm around my waist, but I pushed him away. Still, his annoyingly handsome smirk remained as replied to her, “Because he has hots for me and wanted a repeat of what happened months ago, am I right, darling?”
I pushed my glasses on the bridge of my nose, ignoring his peering eyes at me, and sighed. “I need a drink too.”
Anna looked at us and muttered underneath her breath, “Boys…” She walked between us, and we both looked after her, especially the way her ass was so perfect in the dress.
“ Damn ,” Caleb breathed out, licking his lips.
For once, I agreed.
“Stop stripping her in your head,” I said coldly before following Anna.
I ordered a cold beer and took a few big gulps before eyeing Anna, who was sitting in one of the empty tables. She was talking to Alice, whose eyelids kept closing, her head bobbing in her mother’s direction. I smiled at them before drinking more. Someone is up well past her bedtime .
Marissa and I could have a little copy of us running around. He or she could be four years old and befriend Alice, playing house together .
I swallowed, my throat constricting at the hurried phone call, news of her and?—
“You good?”
I blinked, averting my eyes to the shoulder length hair, glossy hair. What the hell did he use to make it look so good? I frowned harder when he sipped on a glass of cold water, its condensation sliding down his knuckles and silver rings.
That hand was stroking my cock this morning.
I cleared my throat and looked away, emptying my glass of beer. I ordered another one and felt his stare on the side of my face.
“What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?” He drawled, leaning on the counter, spreading his legs on the stool.
“Nothing,” I quipped, making a point not to look at his crotch. Or even think about how his dick looked kind of nice with a metal piercing. I was definitely not thinking about how good his breath had felt against my skin and how I had not at all wondered about his lips on me.
Nope.
Not at all.
“Your cheeks and neck are red,” Caleb said, leaning close, his dark eyes twinkling with mischief. “You’re remembering our hot morning, aren’t you? Naughty, naughty.”
I clenched my hand, wrapping it around the glass, but before I could drink my beer, he stopped me and swallowed it. My eyes watched the steady back and forth of his prominent Adam’s apple. I swallowed, feeling my mouth dry.
“I don’t want you to drink too much.” He licked his lips and said, “I know we’re both thinking the same thing.”
Caleb nodded in Anna’s direction. She was stroking Alice’s hair and talking to the guests. My grandma had already retired to her room, and I hoped Felix would take care of Alice for one night so that we could…
“I have never done it before,” I confessed, but thinking about Anna and Caleb together with me made my pants tighter.
“Neither have I with another man.” He chuckled, the sound young and carefree. “But I always get what I want.”
The prominent dimple in his cheek made me excited and nervous. I could guess what it would feel like. That one night with him, even though it was a messy hand job and blowjob, made me restless for the next few months. I didn’t want any more restless nights after what I saw this morning… after what we did in that locker room.
And heck, I wanted to loosen my tie for once. I hadn’t slept with anyone for five years. I didn’t mind being celibate for the rest of my life, but I wanted this.
I wanted them.
I needed more.
I craved Anna and Caleb. Both .
“You didn’t answer my question,” Caleb said, his gaze intense. “You had an odd look on your face when you were staring at her?—”
I stopped him. “It was nothing.”
He pursed his lips.
I looked away and asked, “Why did I receive your… video instead of her?”
He hummed, noticing the change of subject and fortunately, ignored it. “I was high. Sent it to your saved number instead.”
“Y-you were high?” I gaped at him. “And what if you sent it to your parents by mistake?”
Caleb looked at me comically. “My dad would have ignored it or sent me a text to go out and touch grass instead.”
Strange father.
“And what about your mother?” I shook my head. “You shouldn’t have smoked and?—”
“My mom’s dead,” he said in a clipped voice.
“…Oh.”
“I didn’t smoke. I took an aphrodisiac by mistake.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to?—”
“Anna is leaving.” He stood up and said, “Alone.”
I looked in the direction where he was staring and saw her saying goodbyes to the wedding organizer.
My heart rate picked up when I saw Caleb smirk. “Let’s see who gets to her first.” He winked, taking a head-start.
I stood up and hurried after him. My legs were longer and running every morning had its own benefits, but I’m glad one of them made me a few seconds quicker than him.
His heavy footsteps echoed behind me as I hurried my pace and we both rushed when Anna walked in the elevator. Our shoulders bumped against each other as we stopped the doors from closing. Anna’s eyebrows raised at us when we struggled to get in.
“I got here first,” I said when he nudged me, getting in.
He scoffed, fixing his hair when I stepped on the other side of Anna.
“I got in first, so I won.” He faced Anna, a hot smolder on his face, wishing I could pinch it. “Didn’t I, sweet chicks?”
“Call me that again and you’re not getting anywhere near me.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he pouted, rubbing his chest, making me roll my eyes.
“Quit being so dramatic.” I spoke. “I won, but you cheated.”
“I didn’t peg you as competitive, Kyle,” Anna said, peering up at me.
Having all her attention on me made me feel warm all over. Yes, we had moments when we were alone with each other. Like the time she gave warm cookies with a big grin or when I had helped fix her kitchen faucet. But we never crossed the line of being neighbors. We maintained it and stayed in our own lane.
But Caleb changed everything.
He caught me. And as much as I wanted to, I didn’t regret that I had a crush on my hot neighbor.
She looked cute with flour rubbed on her cheek and looked hot when her top was drenched because of the kitchen faucet. Even though she was my neighbor, I thought about her.
“I can be competitive if I want to be, Anna,” I whispered, eyeing her plump lips. Her lipstick had worn off, leaving a sweet pink hue that I was dying to taste. “Will you be a good girl for me?”
