Chapter Nine
Later on, Sergi was speaking with Bane and Bastian in the security room. “We haven’t been able to pinpoint where Jeovonic might be yet but my best guess would be he’s here in the states. He has to be in order to ship out the guns and other weapons from LaDonna’s warehouse.”
“We have Ari and Sheba hunting for him,” Bane told him.
“Aaron made that deal with an overseas contact. We know that much.” Bane agreed.
Serenity looked up from her laptop. “We also know that it was Aaron behind that plane too. His own brother Brent was flying it. Once we knew where to look, the information was waiting for us.” Shaking her head, “Those guys aren’t too bright.”
Bane chuckled, “And that my friends is where the moron clause kicks in.”
Kosta turned his head. “But right now, we need to find Jeovonic and his father. That brings down the ring on our side of the ocean. Our men are working on the other side of the ocean. And they are making waves there as well.”
Bastian nodded. “That’s good. It will be even better when this is over.”
James looked up from his laptop and asked, “Do you have any men at LaDonna’s place?”
Sergi frowned and looked around the room. “Why do you ask?”
“Because there is movement in her compound and I’m wondering if they are friends or foes?
” James went back to his screen. He looked up again and added, “So far, I’ve seen three or four hot spots, that means someone or someone’s are moving around free and clear.
Could be up to four individuals.” He then leaned closer to his screen.
“Wait a minute here. Ari and Sheba are there watching the men. They say they will wait for backup. There are more than a dozen men.”
“Blin,” Sergi swore in Russian. He got Viktor on the phone then ordered him and his men to go there and check things out. He told them Ari and Sheba were there as well.
James found more hot spots about ten minutes later and Kosta got the compound up on his screens as well. They all watched the battle that happened when Viktor’s men found the others. Sheba and Ari put down six of the men on their own. They were quick and lethal.
Just then, six SUVs pulled up along the street and headed to the lot.
Sheba and Ari waved at Viktor and his men to move out of the way.
Serenity relayed the message to Viktor via text that James gave her. Move your men back.
They all backed up.
Finally, the entire fleet of the arriving SUVs and men all went BOOM!
James cheered, “Orrin and Cane!”
Viktor’s crew then grabbed the men that were inside that were originally detected. They loaded them all into a van.
Sergi could see Viktor left a few of his men behind in order to secure the compound. He saw no sign of Bane’s family. He looked over at Bane.
He shrugged and crossed his arms. “The act of disappearance is the main rule of survival.”
Sergi smirked at him.
About twenty minutes later, the van arrived at the back of the hotel.
Sergi and Yuri were waiting when the van stopped.
When Viktor stepped out he handed Sergi several papers and driver’s licenses.
Sergi looked at the licenses first. He got to the second one and he paused for a moment then he handed it off to Yuri.
The license read Josiah Wheeler. AKA Jeovonic Partross.
Yuri looked at him and nodded. They found the last one they were looking for.
Sergi nodded back. “Let’s hope he’s the last of this circle here. Maybe we can finally wrap this up.”
Yuri paused, then shook his head. He looked out over the parking lot. “I hate to say this but I don’t think we are done here yet. Can’t you feel it? The air isn’t right. Something isn’t right.”
Sergi shook his head. “I think you’ve spent too much time with Raven. She feels that way as well at times.”
Yuri nodded. “But the thing about Raven is when she feels some disturbance there’s always something bad coming. It never fails.”
Sergi nodded slowly. “I realize that. I thought this was all wrapped up, but I guess we’ll see.”
Both men turned around after they noticed Viktor had managed to get the prisoners inside. They were all in a separate room away from all the other prisoners in the cells and the doctor treated their wounds one at a time.
Sergi came to a stop beside Viktor and asked, “Which one is Partross?”
Viktor pointed at the last one to get treated.
Sergi studied the man and shook his head. “That isn’t Oleg’s grandson.” He looked at Yuri. “Dominic must have given them the wrong man. That man can’t be Oleg’s grandson.”
“Why?” Yuri wanted to know
Sergi shook his head. “The genes. He looks nothing like his family members. I have a feeling Dominic played Bane and Bastian.”
“Well, let’s find out.” Yuri turned and went back to the security room.
When they got there, Sergi went over to Bane and asked, “Are you sure of the name Dominic gave you for Oleg’s grandson?”
Bane cocked his head and asked, “Why do you ask?”
“Viktor’s men brought prisoners back and one of them is Josiah. But I don’t think he is Oleg’s grandson. There’s nothing about the man that I know. I don’t think he’s even Russian. Now it’s just a feeling I have but I believe we got the wrong name.”
Bane looked angry.
Serenity looked up and said, “I ran his name through the DMV and I got several hits.”
Sergi moved over to behind her and she began flipping through the photos on the screen. It took him a few minutes to find another face under that name. He paused as he stared into the man’s eyes. He straightened up and pointed at his face. “This man is Oleg’s grandson.”
Yuri and Bane came over and stared at the face on the screen.
Finally, Yuri nodded. “That’s him. I saw him years ago and that’s the same face I saw on the streets of Moscow. That explains why it felt wrong. The real Jeovonic is still out there.”
Just then, Sergi got a ping on his phone. It was an incoming text. He read the message and held his phone out so everyone could read the message.
It read, “I believe you know who I am and what I’m in this city for.
I know you raided the Rinc compound and you took what wasn’t yours to take.
All I want is the Russian explosives. Those are already sold to someone you don’t want to take from.
I need them back and I need them sooner rather than later.
If he doesn’t get them in two days he’s going to declare war on the Bratva and that is something no one will survive.
All you have to do is cooperate. If you do not then prepare for death. ”
Sergi snarled and looked at his men. “Find this Cretin. I want to be face to face with him in chains. How dare he threaten the Bratva. Find him and drag him here to me.”
Kosta turned back to his computer.
So did Nicky and Serenity.
James typed in the phone number and it pinged a block away from the hotel. He looked up at Sergi and said, “I found where he made the call from and he’s close.”
Sergi cleared his cell phone screen and texted Viktor.
A few minutes later, Viktor joined them and after he read the text he looked at James and demanded the address of where the call came from. When James told him Viktor growled and disappeared from the security room.
Then they all heard footsteps running down the hall. Viktor and more than one of his men were out the back door. They turned the corner and melted into the city.
Everyone else waited in the security room.
About ten minutes later an explosion ripped through the air and shook the very walls of the hotel.
“Holy shit!” James exclaimed.
Sergi, Yuri, Bane, Bastian and Felix all rushed to the back door of the hotel.
They stepped out and heard several sirens blaring around them. Next, they saw a cloud of dirt and flames from a few streets away. Dust floated through the parking area now.
They were nervous and silent.
Sergi paced while they waited to hear from their men. Blin!”
Yuri sighed as he knew the feeling he had before was this. “They are smart men,” he tried to soothe Sergi. “Trained in all battle scenarios. They are okay.”
Sergi clasped his hands behind his back and said, “The Enforcers are irreplaceable. There are no men on earth that could replace them.”
Finally, Viktor and his men began staggering back to the hotel. Grisha was holding Viktor up as they came into sight. Viktor had dirt and blood on his face. His leg was torn up and bloody. Deter came in while helping Ivan. The rest came along while looking ash covered and coughing from the smoke.
Viktor staggered over to Sergi. He looked up at him and reported what he knew, “We were set up. He wasn’t there any longer but he left a little surprise for us. We missed most of the blast but not all of it.”
“Did anyone else get hurt?” Sergi wanted to know.
Viktor shook his head. “Net, no one else was within distance of the blast but there was a large group of children at a park not too far away. He was willing to kill children to make his point.”
Sergi tightened his jaw. “Da, that sounds like Oleg’s grandson.
Oleg would have done the same thing and maybe he is here as well.
My contacts back home tell me that none of the Partross men are in Russia.
” He looked over at Yuri. “We need to run that family down and take them out before they ruin this city and paint the streets red with blood.”
