Chapter 29
Rob Her
Ryan
I woke up before Ivy. She’d rolled away from me during the night, but she hadn’t stolen the sheets. A digital alarm clock sat on the nightstand, I lifted my head to peek at the time. Six forty-five. Before we turned the lights out, she’d mentioned her alarm would go off at ten after seven.
It wasn’t cool to rob her of sleep…but I figured a couple of orgasms would more than make up for it.
I slid the sheets off me, turned to my side, then carefully tugged the covers off my woman. She’d gone to bed naked. Maybe that was why I woke up so determined to have her.
She rolled to her back with a heavy sigh.
Her eyes weren’t open. For some reason that made me grin.
I dragged her leg to the side, moved so I was between her legs, and lowered my face to kiss her upper thigh.
The rhythm of her breathing changed, but glancing up her body, I saw she still wasn’t awake.
My grin became a smile just before I flicked her clit with my tongue. Her hips shifted, I licked rapidly and repeatedly.
Her sharp inhale cut through the silent room. I stared up her body.
She’d leaned up on her elbows. “What’s goin’ on?” she whispered.
I smirked for a split second. Rather than tell her, I showed her what was going on by sucking on her clit.
The bed jostled when she fell back, but those hands drove into my hair and I loved feeling her fingernails scraping along my scalp. I slid two fingers inside her pussy.
“Yes,” she breathed.
I lapped and sucked at her clit while sliding my fingers in and out of her wet pussy. She pushed against me, her hips undulating. The moment she began to ride my face I sucked even harder.
“Ryan. Oh God, don’t stop.”
That was an order I’d follow gladly. I curled my fingers and felt her muscles tighten.
“I’m so close,” she moaned.
I replaced my fingers with my tongue because nothing was better than tasting her release. With my finger I rubbed her clit. A moment later she came with a long moan.
I rose to my knees, gave my cock a tug, then lined up and drove inside her. Her pussy clenching around my cock felt like heaven. I withdrew and slammed back inside.
Her hands went to my ass and squeezed. “Yes, honey.”
I pulled her legs up and pistoned my hips.
“Fuck, Ivy. You feel as good as you taste.”
She ground her hips against me on every inward thrust. “I love you,” she whispered.
I leaned forward and kissed her. When I pulled away, I looked into her green eyes. “I love you, too, Trouble.”
She rose up and kissed my collarbone. Then I felt her sucking on my skin there.
“Trouble,” I growled.
“Yes,” she said, dragging her lips down to my pectoral.
I kept pounding into her. Sweat beaded along the small of my back. I felt my balls growing tight.
She dragged my nipple through her teeth.
“Oh, shit. You’re gonna send me over the edge,” I whispered.
She reached between us and rubbed her clit.
As much as I wanted her to come twice, I couldn’t stop my release. I groaned and just as I thrust one last time, I felt her pussy spasm around me.
I thought I would collapse, so I wrapped my arms around her and flipped us so I was on the bottom. Somehow, we stayed connected.
After our breathing evened out, Ivy lifted her head. “That’s a great way to start a Monday.”
I chuckled. “I’m glad you liked it.”
Her alarm went off. She reached out and smacked the clock into silence.
She cocked a brow at me. “You going to shower with me, or did you wear yourself out?”
I wheezed out a laugh. “I’ll let you shower alone since you’re headed back to work today.”
Lark had assigned me the early shift today. I’d expected him to make me pull a double considering all the time I’d missed over the past several days. I wandered in at eleven o’clock and saw Beast go into the office and shut the door.
Mickayla was taking chairs off the tables and getting the floor set up. I joined her at one of the tables and set a chair on the floor. “What’s the deal? Do we need Beast here today?”
My sister didn’t exactly frown, but she had a similar expression as me when I wasn’t pleased.
“I’m not sure. I know he has experience managing a dance club and bar at one of the Biloxi casinos, but that was over a decade ago.
I can’t imagine he wants to work here.” She shrugged.
“I don’t know. Maybe Lark’s been more stressed than he let on over the past ten days. ”
I nodded. “You need me to do anything more strenuous? Do we need kegs moved?”
She shook her head. “Nope. That was handled last night. You can see if Adam and our new cook need anything.”
There wasn’t much I could do in the kitchen, and I went behind the bar.
Beast and Lark came out of the office.
Lark leaned against the bar. “I know you think you’re ready to run this place on your own, but I’m not gonna be comfortable with that until we all spend some time training with Beast first.”
Mickayla nodded, but I could see she wasn’t pleased.
“How long is ‘some time’ going to last?” I asked.
“As long as we say,” Lark said.
I shook my head. “Most businesses give employees – especially managerial employees – an idea of how long their training will last. We’ve been doing the work for over four months now.
” I tilted a hand toward my sister. “She’s got a business degree.
Asking how long it will be before the brothers have confidence in the three of us isn’t an unreasonable question, Lark. ”
Beast twisted his hands out in acknowledgment.
“It isn’t a lack of confidence in any of you three, Nickel.
I’m going to share efficiency strategies.
We should have done it back in May, but Volt sent me and Tundra out to Gainesville and then other crap was going down.
There’s been steady growth, so it needs to happen sooner rather than later. ”
Mickayla nodded. “That’s understandable. Can we get started now before we get the lunch rush?”
“Absolutely,” Beast muttered.
The next six and a half hours went by faster than usual – likely because when I wasn’t serving or making drinks, Beast was training us. I was more than ready to call it a day. Ivy had texted to let me know that she was coming by the bar after a showing on the North side.
My hunch was that she wanted to hang at the bar to eat, and maybe shoot the breeze with Lark. He hadn’t been at the party on Saturday night, and I suspected she’d been disappointed. If connecting with Lark was what she wanted, I’d spend an extra hour here.
Killian came behind the bar and went to the trashcan. “You’re out of here soon, right?”
“Yeah. Why do you ask?”
He took the lid off the can and pulled the bag out. “I’m gonna take this out while you’re still here.”
I nodded, and reached under the bar for a trash bag. “Thanks. I could have done that.”
Kill shook his head. “I need to see the sun before it sets.”
I put the bag in and replaced the lid.
Mickayla breezed past me to the register to update a customer’s tab.
I glanced out the new front windows and saw Ivy drive by and park her car.
“You are so smitten,” Mickayla said.
“Shut it, Mick,” I muttered.
She giggled. “Nope. It’s not that busy. Go out there and greet her so the rest of us don’t have to watch you pine after her and be so damn sappy.”
Part of me wanted to force her to watch me be sappy, but I took her up on the offer and went out to see Ivy.
I nodded at Adam as I walked out the front doors. The moment I stepped outside, alarm swept through me. Ivy stood on the sidewalk half way between her car and the doors to the restaurant on the sidewalk. She was facing me, but two men were blocking her path.
My gut said it was Sig and Rusty, but that couldn’t be right. Sig had agreed to letting this shit go. If it was him, he wasn’t wearing his MC cut. The man on the right had the same build as Rusty.
“Rusty,” I called out to test him.
When he turned, I noticed he held a gun in his hand. The other man shifted, and my stomach soured as Sig stared at me.
“I knew she’d draw you out,” Rusty said.
The sour in my stomach began to roil when I saw Killian saunter around the corner of the building, a good fifteen feet behind Ivy.
“Yo, numbnuts, I’m the one you want,” he called out. He’d pitched his voice lower, and he only did that when he was trying to act like me.
Goddammit! This really wasn’t the time for my brother to pull a switch.
“Fuck, I didn’t know they were identical,” Sig said in a voice so low, I almost missed it.
“Which one do want me to shoot first?” Rusty asked.
“The one who killed my nephews, dumbass,” Sig said.
“The two of you got no fuckin’ business here. Cops are on the way,” Lark said, walking up beside me and cocking a rifle.
With anyone else, that warning would have encouraged them to leave. But Rusty was a different level of stupid.
“You said you were cool. Does Bridge know you’re here?” I asked, trying to stall.
Sig’s eyes narrowed. “I lied.”
Rusty stared over his shoulder at me and Lark.
I forced myself to stay focused on him because I’d noticed Killian inching closer to Ivy.
No way did I want to inadvertently communicate that to these two.
My brother wasn’t directly behind her, rather he was two feet away and off to the side just a touch.
“They’ll suffer either way,” Rusty muttered.
I expected him to shoot me, but he twisted and without taking aim, he fired at Ivy.
The blast of his gun was loud. The boom of Lark’s rifle was even louder.
My ears were ringing. I saw Ivy jerk and twist to one side before she slumped to the ground holding her shoulder.
As I rushed to her, the scene came clearer. The bullet went through Ivy and hit Killian.
I heard someone roaring, “No.”
That someone was me.
Sig lunged toward me holding a hunting knife. I veered to the left and vaguely registered the sound of Lark cocking the rifle again.
Another blast cracked the air and Sig went down.
I didn’t know who to run to first. I tore my shirt over my head, balled it up and put it on Ivy’s wound.
She was still conscious.
