45. Talon
Talon
Her face is like stone, she’s pissed. Understandably so, we omitted information that her mother told us to keep to ourselves. If Fern hadn’t been there to drive home how important it was that Cin not know, I probably would have ignored her mother and told Cin anyway.
But Fern made it sound important, so I went with it. Now my girlfriend is pissed at me.
“Can you give us a minute?” I ask my brothers.
“Are you gonna tell her about the thing?” Henry asks, bouncing on his toes. I could kill him because I was going to tell her about the thing, but not at the moment, considering she’s not happy.
“What thing?” Cin demands.
I take a deep breath and run a hand down my face, “the surprise I have for you. Do you want to talk about the ‘Cody’ situation, or do you want to know what the surprise is?”
She crosses her arms, and seeing that fight makes me bite my tongue to keep from throwing her over the bed and spanking her ass until she’s red and begging for me to stop. She obviously wants both answers.
“We’re going to see that band you love,” Henry spills, and I shoot him a look that clearly says to get the fuck out.
Cin’s face morphs from angry to unbelieving. So I dig in my pocket for my phone to show her the tickets.
She grabs my phone like someone who just found treasure. Her eyes light up as she reads over the tickets.
“Young Decay,” she whispers, “you got me tickets to the sold-out Young Decay show?”
She whirls back around and launches herself at me, screaming like a banshee in my ear.
“Oh my God, Oh my God, Oh my God,” she chants, and I can’t help but laugh at her reaction. It’s exactly what I imagined, yet somehow, it’s still better.
“I’m going to see Young Decay in concert!” She squeals, and I hear the boys laugh from the other room. “How did you get these? They’ve been sold out for months!”
“I have a friend,” I shrug. Fern and Candy worked magic on these tickets, I don’t know what they had to do, but it was fucking worth it to see her lose her mind.
“Tell them I love them!” She hops back out of my arms and starts pacing, still looking at the tickets. She stops and tilts her head, then looks up at me with–I shit you not–actual fucking tears . “These are floor seats, Talon.”
“I’m aware.”
“I’m going to be close enough to them to see them sweat!” She screams and I have to blink a few times to comprehend what she said.
“You're excited to see them sweat?” I ask, a little perplexed.
“I’ll bet they’re so hot in person, even Bonnie. Oh GOD, I have to pick an outfit! What if they see me?!” I can’t keep up with her vibrant energy.
“What does it matter?” I ask, and she eyes me as if I’ve got two heads.
“Because what if they pull me on stage? I have to have an outfit that’s perfect, just in case.”
“No one is pulling you on any stage,” I tell her. “The only way your mom even agreed to this is because we’re all going.”
She nods, but her eyes are full of excitement, so I know what I’m saying isn’t actually getting to the rational part of her brain.
“How are we getting there?” She asks, noticing the location of the event. “This Saturday night? Talon, seriously, how are you going to pull this off?”
Smirking, I pull her into my arms and kiss her. Slowly, she melts into the kiss, standing on her toes so she’s level with me.
“I’ve got it all worked out, Spice,” I wink, “and happy birthday.”
She rears back, clearly surprised that I know her birthday is this Sunday. She didn’t expect me to know, and that bothers me. I’m not sure why, but it feels like she doesn’t truly understand that I’m in this relationship, both feet planted and growing roots.
Her lips meet mine again, softer this time, “don’t think this gets you out of answering my questions.”
I laugh, “I wouldn’t dream of it.”
She laughs, twirling around the room until she lands on the bed with a smack. Cradling my phone like it’s the most precious thing in the world against her chest, I leave her to stew in her fantasies.
The boys are all in our room when I cross the threshold, staring at me with mixed faces.
“She's going to grill us on the plane, isn’t she?” Toby asks.
I nod my head, holding in a chuckle, “most likely. What better time than when we can’t get away.”
With everyone loaded into the cars, we head to the airport. Fern got another ticket at the last minute so we could bring Gemma. It was one of Cin’s requests the night I told her about it.
Campus resumed as normal the rest of the week, and we tried our damndest to avoid Cody whenever Cin was around. So far we’ve been able to evade him, and Banks managed to get a good lead on Mr. Skeens and his charges.
Cin is bouncing in her seat, black tights with snake designs cover her legs, and her top is cut low enough that her tits are half out. I know better than to tell her what to wear, and if the little smirk she sent my way when she passed me in the hall gave me any indication of how tonight was going to go, it was all in my favor.
Gemma is in the seat behind Cin, Toby beside her. Griffin, Henry, and Banks are in the car behind us. Since the plane we’re using belongs to Creed’s dad, we’re heading to a private air strip. We did a lot of due diligence to make sure Cody had no clue that we even left campus.
I only hope he doesn’t ruin this for her.
The plane comes into view and her mouth pops open a smidge, “this is Creed’s?”
“His dad’s, but yeah, he uses it for trips back and forth for business.”
She shakes her head and closes her eyes. They're covered with makeup, and though I think she’s beautiful, I like her better without all the stuff on her face.
Opening the door, I hold my hand out for her, which she takes like a princess would. Hand delicately placed over mine, “I’m no Prince.”
I murmur into her neck, placing kisses there as everyone loads out of the cars onto the tarmac. The pilot greets us and double-checks the destination before allowing us on the plane.
The plane is nice, average, nothing flashy, just black leather seats and two couches near the back. A hostess comes over as soon as we’re all seated to ask what we’d like to drink.
It’s a short flight, really only about an hour in the air, and the boys and I agreed we’d be perfect gentlemen tonight. So we all order water.
The pilot asks us to take our seats until after takeoff. I know once we hit cruising altitude, Cin is going to want answers. And this time, we’re going to tell her everything.
