Chapter 20
Twenty
Brick
When people talk about perfect days, they are talking about days like this.
I never thought I'd see a perfect day. There was always some big danger just around the corner or the fear that the police would barge through the door and throw me back in that cage, but not today.
Today, all I can think about is how truly lucky I am.
I sit back in my chair at the clubhouse, the familiar scent of worn leather and aged wood wrapping around me like a comforting blanket. Laughter spills in from the kitchen, where Luna and Bea are chatting away, their voices a melody that dances through the air. I can’t help but smile, feeling a warmth spread through my chest.
It's a rare moment of peace, and for the first time in a long while, I don’t feel the weight of impending doom pressing down on me. No thoughts of Daly, no lingering shadows from the past —just the sound of my brothers enjoying their lives, the clang of glasses, and the unmistakable scent of something delicious simmering on the stove.
I glance around at my patch brothers, their faces lit with smiles, the camaraderie palpable. This is what family feels like. It doesn’t matter that we aren’t blood; we share a bond forged in fire, loyalty, and the kind of respect that runs deeper than anything else. I can see it in their eyes—the way they look out for one another, the teasing jabs, the easy laughter. Each man here has fought his own battles, and we’ve all come out stronger together.
I lean back, letting the moment soak in. I’m proud to be their leader, to stand alongside these men who’ve become brothers in every sense of the word. But even more than that, I’m proud to be Luna’s husband. The thought sends a rush of warmth through me, and I can’t help but think of the way she lights up a room.
Her laughter intertwines with Bea’s, a sweet sound that wraps around me like a warm embrace. I close my eyes for a moment, imagining her smile—how it brightens even the darkest days. Luna is my anchor, my safe harbor in this chaotic world. She’s shown me that happiness is possible, that I can still find joy amidst the chaos of our lives.
I'm sure if it weren't for her, I would never know what this feels like.
I'm so fucking grateful.
All at once, our phones begin to go off. Everyone except Semi, because he's old school and refuses to carry a cell phone around with him.
The only reason our phones should all be going off at the same time is because we've got an unwanted visitor.
So much for today being a good day.
I groan and dig into my pocket, reaching for the vibrating cell phone. When I pull it up, I click on the notification that lets me know that there is movement at one of our shops.
"Light, that's you," Torch says as he slides his phone back in his pocket.
I'm not satisfied with that. I click on the notification, and a live video streams to my phone.
A woman, tall with hair cut evenly laying at her shoulder blades, knocks on Light's business door. She turns as if she's waiting for someone or something to come up behind her, but then she goes back to knocking on Light's door.
I squint my eyes at the image, and recognition blooms in my mind. I've seen her before, which is strange. Usually, the women Light deals with are only around for a day. He's even got a special room in his shop specifically for his many one-night stands.
"Light, what the hell did you do to that woman?" I growl, slightly annoyed.
"Me? I didn't do nothing." Light shoves up from his seat and wipes a hand down his body before licking his pointer finger and pinky and spreading them over his eyebrows. "I think this hot thing is just too shy to ask me for what she really wants." He waggles his eyebrows.
"Wait." I put my hand up to stop him. "You mean to tell me you haven't banged this woman yet?"
"Nah, man, she keeps having accidents with her fuse box." He does air quotes around the word "accidents," letting me believe that he really doesn't think these things are happening by accident at all.
I scoff at him. If it were up to Light, he'd never work. Instead, he'd find a new girl every night to bang. I've known men who went to prison for decades longer than him who had sex less than he does.
"Maybe this time you might want to fix whatever it is you're over there to fix the right way so she doesn't have to keep coming over here to hunt you down. This is a business, in case you forgot." I raise an eyebrow at him, and he stares at me in mock hurt.
"Well, I never. All my work is perfect. Like I said, I don't think these are all really accidents. If she didn't need the electricity for her son, I'd make her wait."
Pipe is the next one to speak up. "Wait, this is the same lady that came to you asking for a generator for free?"
Light gives him a "see what I mean" look, and everyone starts laughing.
Pipe turns to me. "Yeah, Prez, I think the hound dog might be onto something. There's just no reason for a woman to need an electrician this many times. Light, go handle your business, brother, before she walks off."
Light gives us all a half-hearted salute before he rushes out to handle the woman at his shop door.
I don't know if it's because I'm conditioned to think something bad is happening or because I can see things before other people can when it comes to a threat, but something about this woman just sits wrong. Not her, but that situation.
I hope Light knows what he's doing, and I hope he comes to me if he needs any help.
The doors to the kitchen swing open, and Bea and Luna walk out, both of them carrying trays of cups in our direction. I wait for her to deliver the drinks to the guys and then come over to me to give me my drink.
It's a very sweet cocktail, definitely something a woman would like.
"What? You don't like it?" Luna leans away from me after she watches me wince it down.
"It's fine if I want diabetes." I cough and push the drink away.
She glares at me for a second, acting as if she's mad. I've felt her wrath before. Back then, I'd be annoyed that I'd have to deal with her mouth again, but nowadays, I'm finding I'm starting to like it. When I don't back down, she chuckles and pulls out a small bottle of Jack Daniel's. "I knew you wouldn't drink it. I just won a bet." She shimmies onto my lap, and the movement goes straight to my cock.
"I'd like it much better if it were dripping off these gorgeous tits." I don't even bother to whisper. Bea gasps, and the rest of the guys laugh harder. Luna smacks my chest, pretending to be embarrassed.
She's not. I know my woman. She's a fucking hellcat—strong and commanding. My perfect match.
She reaches forward to grab the drink. "Bring the towel. It's going to get messy." She rushes off to the bedroom, and I sit in shock for a second, not believing that actually worked. Only for a second, though. Then I'm off to the races right behind her. I guess it's time for round two today.
I'll have all the time in the world to wonder what's going on between Light and that woman. But today, I'm going to focus on my woman and my new outlook on life.
