Chapter 28 Hawk

Hawk

I lean on the counter waiting for Annie to come out of the water closet. She’s barely slept. None of us have. The temptation of her body is too much.

There’s still enough time to get a few hours before we have to be up for the scrimmage. I’m tempted to sleep with my cock buried inside her.

Annie steps out of the water closet wearing my Devils t-shirt, and walks over to the sink to wash her hands. Her eyes stay on mine, even though I’m not wearing a stitch of clothes.

“Where are your parents?” She turns and dries her hands. “Why aren’t they here?”

I blow out a breath and pull her over in front of me, my hands on the hem of the shirt and the softness of her thighs. Her eyes search mine.

“They travel.”

“For work?” She puts her hands on my chest, and I draw her hips against mine.

“And other things?” I cock my head to the side. “You worried about me, baby girl?”

“It’s just unusual.”

I blow out a breath. “They’re kind of separated. So when one of them is here, the other is usually gone. I guess they got used to always being away to avoid each other.”

“What about you?” She slides her hand up to my neck and rubs her thumb against a hickey she left there.

I smirk. “Haven’t you heard? I’m the golden boy who can do no wrong?” The words taste bitter in my mouth. “I’m the one my friends’ fathers wish my friends were more like. That mothers point out to their daughters as someone who’s going somewhere in his life. What do I need parents for?”

She wraps her arms around my neck and hugs me.

I shake my head and pull her in close to me, smelling her hair. “What’s this for?”

“You’re more than that.” She rests her face against my chest. “I need you, Hawk. I need you to make me beg you. To fuck me so hard I’m going to be sore tomorrow. To sleep with me and wake me up with your head between my thighs.”

I chuckle. “You’ve got two other guys who can do that for you.”

She lets out a little huff and looks up at me. “It’s more than sex. Right? I like holding your hand and riding on the back of your motorcycle. I love talking Shakespeare with you and watching you perform. I like when you put your arm around my shoulders and claim me as yours. There’s more here.”

The uncertainty in her voice has me taking notice. “Your mom hasn’t been around much either. Has she?”

Her lips press together, and I know she’s going to defend her mother. It’s what Annie does. It’s why she tries to defend me.

“You don’t have to lie to me,” I say softly as I cup her jaw and look into her eyes.

“I know it hurts. That you do everything to make her life easier, so she won’t need to worry about you.

But sometimes you wished she’d slow down and notice.

Not just praise you for your accomplishments but see you. ”

“Hawk?” Her voice trembles as she looks up at me. The lights in here are dim and make her eyes almost appear silver.

“Yeah, Annie.”

“Do you think they’ll notice you?” The question is simple and it pierces my heart. I know what she’s going through because I do it too.

“They do. It’s just not often.” I lift her onto the counter and step between her legs. She puts her hands on my jaw, and I lower my forehead to touch hers. “It’s difficult when you make their lives easy. I’m sure they haven’t forgotten about us. And they’ll be there for the big things.”

“I’ll be here for the small things.” She lifts her mouth and touches her lips to mine. “And the big things and the ordinary things. I want to be with you for all the things.”

Something clicks into place inside me. “I want that too, baby girl.”

EvanAnn

Thankfully, the rink is cold as I lower myself onto the seat a little gingerly. Everything aches. They took me every way they could last night. I woke in a tangle of limbs with Damon fucking my ass.

I came so hard I screamed. My voice is a little hoarse this morning even after drinking tea.

“You sure you feel better? You seem a little off still.” Mia sits next to me in the hockey rink. “Maybe you shouldn’t drink at parties if you keep getting sick.”

I haven’t been drinking at parties. I’ve been sneaking away to fuck the Devil’s trio. My pussy clenches, and I almost groan at the ache. Yeah, we might need to take a little break.

“Just a little exhaustion from all the work.” I try to keep the heat from my cheeks.

“You work so hard. We have our history project to do this afternoon. Tell me if you want me to leave you with either or both. Fuck, you want those guys, I’ll negotiate terms for you.” Mia seems a little too eager. But I don’t need anyone to negotiate for them, they’re mine.

“I’m good. Besides, we have the party with Chase tonight.” Also I don’t think I can take another cock right now. But if Cam, Hawk, or Damon asked, I’d try. My insides spark as the guys skate out onto the ice. I could always use my mouth and so could they.

“I know. It’s such a difficult school. It’s a wonder anyone has time for anything but a quickie between assignments.” Mia watches the guys.

“Have you started decorating your room?” I ask, trying to steer the conversation to something besides my guys or the players she wants to fuck. It seems like that’s all we talk about. As I think about it, it kind of is.

“A little.” Mia glances toward me. “Honestly, I’m not very good at decorating. You just moved too, right?”

“Yeah. I haven’t done much. The house kind of runs on its own. I didn’t even have to unpack. It’s so different from what I’m used to. I think they even unpacked the box that didn’t get unpacked the last two moves.”

Damon flies by and shoots a puck into the net. My attention gets captured watching him, Hawk, and Cam warm up. They glide around each other as they skate. So in sync. My insides warm. They definitely figured out how to be in sync last night. I cross my legs, not sure if the ache is pain or want.

“They really are gorgeous.” Mia sighs. “Are you sure you want to give Chase a second chance? Because I’m sure any of them would be better for you than him. Even if it’s only for a night.”

Last night was like sinking into pleasure.

Every moment they took me from one orgasm to the next.

It was intense, but there were moments where things slowed down.

Where it was just me and Hawk and him taking me slowly on the bed, sinking into me over and over.

Or Cam and I in the bathroom. He took his time cleaning me up before I begged him to fuck me again.

Our eyes locked. Breathing the same breath.

The guys skate back to their bench as they prepare to start the game.

“Hey, Mia, right?”

My blood freezes. My breath catches as my chest tightens.

“Oh, hey, Jackson.” Mia is all smiles. “Are you here to scope out the competition?”

“Of course.” His voice is all charm.

I don’t turn around, but everything inside me wants to run. My finger scratches at my jeans. I can move. I can leave. But then he might get me alone. That can’t happen.

“You can sit next to me.” Mia grins. At least he didn’t sit beside me.

He steps over the back of the seats and sits down, leaning forward to see me around Mia. “Hey, Evan.”

“How do you know each other?” Mia asks.

“Elementary school.” Jackson smiles. “She was the pretty blond with pigtails, and I was the kid too nervous to tell her I thought she was pretty.”

I take a breath and turn to meet his dark eyes. Was it all fake? The laughter? The sweetness? He acted like he really liked me, but was it all obsession?

He smiles like we’re old friends. “Honestly, I had the biggest crush on her, but she never noticed me.”

I narrow my eyes on him. He’s not mentioning that summer. Maybe it didn’t mean anything to him. Maybe I was just an available girl.

“She’s currently trying to make amends with her cheating boyfriend. You should convince her she shouldn’t give him another chance.” Mia wiggles her eyebrows.

“I’m okay, really.” I don’t want his attention. Let him focus on Mia.

Mia gives me an odd look but then turns to smile at Jackson. “She’s shy, but I’ve told her that once a cheater, always a cheater.”

“You’re full of all sorts of good advice.” Jackson chuckles, but his gaze strays to me, and there’s an intensity that’s unsettling. Am I just imagining it? I don’t think so.

Something bangs against the boards in front of us. I jerk my gaze and meet Hawk’s green eyes before he spins away from the guy he shoved against the boards.

When I swallow, something settles inside me. They’re here. They’ll protect me. I just have to stay here and not leave the game. He can’t get me here.

But after the game, the guys will go down to the locker room together, leaving me with just Mia as backup. She doesn’t know Jackson might be dangerous to me, but we’re in public.

“I didn’t realize Evan went to your school until my team played yours in a scrimmage.”

Mia looks like she’s buying his sugarcoated words. But she doesn’t know him or about the texts he’s sent me. Should I confront him? Ask him why he sent them?

Would I sound like a crazy person if it’s not him?

Because as much as the guys and I believe it’s him, is that because he’s the only suspect?

There are people who don’t like me, like Brandt.

He might fuck with my mind to get me off my game for the showcase.

Olivia definitely doesn’t like me, but she’s already offered to buy me off, so I don’t think she’s moved to scare tactics yet.

It might just be a coincidence Jackson realized I still exist. Maybe he just wants to apologize for frightening me. Maybe he really hasn’t thought of me at all since that summer.

“Are you still acting?” Jackson asks.

I’m not being hunted. This is standard catching up talk. “I direct now.”

“She’s the best at it.” Mia smiles. “I’m one of her actors. She’s putting on Shakespeare and she’s brilliant.”

“She was always the smartest girl in school.” He smiles like he’s remembering.
