Epilogue

Three months later

The last three months have been nothing short of amazing. I won’t say the start of the season, or the season, itself hasn’t been hard at times because it caused more than a few tears on my end. I was so used to seeing him whenever I wanted and now having him away for days on end, or not just having him on demand, is hard. I know I’m being a baby, and I don’t shed tears in front of him, but it’s still hard. I think he finds it hard too. He won’t say it because he knows I find it hard, but he has been hinting more and more that I should just move in with him, that way we can spend all possible moments together. So that’s what I’m doing. Only he has no idea.

Sadie gave me the idea. This one loves to keep her big brother on his toes, and I love it, encouraging her at every turn. He has his first long stretch of travel this week—ten days away. When Sadie realized it she suggested I take that time to just move in. And not tell him. So, with her moms blessing, I took her out of school today so she could help me move my scarce belongings from Levi’s house to Ian’s house—or my house I should say.

“Is this really all you have?” Sadie asks me, looking at the one duffle bag and suitcase.

“Pretty much, yeah,” I answer with a shrug. “I only had one bag when I moved in with Levi and a bunch of my stuff is already at Ian’s since I spend most of my time over there already,” I explained to her.

“Daisy has more stuff than you. I see why you waited until the last minute to bring all your stuff over there,” she says, grabbing the duffle bag and the last box containing Daisy’s stuff bringing it to Ian’s truck.

I spend the first nine days of this away stretch introducing Hagrid to Daisy. Surprisingly, it didn’t take them long to become fast friends. After their third meeting, Daisy didn’t want to leave Hagrid, so I had actually spent the last five nights sleeping at Ian’s house. I could have done this official move days ago, but I figured I’d get Sadie’s help moving since it was her idea, and this was the day her mom approved for skipping school.

Grabbing my suitcase, I make my way to the truck where I see Sadie sitting in the passenger seat waiting for me. “If this was all you have, what are we going to do for the rest of the day? It’s not even ten a.m. yet,” she says as I get into the driver’s seat.

“Well, your brother felt bad he was leaving me for ten days, so he gave me his credit card before leaving and told me to go spoil myself. So I made us appointments for mani-pedis and figured I could finally go get you those new boots we talked about months ago!”

Mani-pedis and shopping bleed into dinner and a movie as well. So I barely made it to the airport in time to pick up Ian. I had told Levi my plan, so he had parked one of his cars at the airport for the entire stretch, knowing that I’d want to get to Ian’s as soon as possible.
