7. Kelly

Chapter 7

S teve is staring at my chest and snickering, and I know it’s not ’cause he likes how it looks. What the heck?

I look down, not realizing that I put on my One Punch Man pajamas. I just grabbed something with soft, fleecy pants out of the closet where Garret hung my stuff. These are a size too big, but they are so comfortable, plus they have Saitama and Genos fighting all across the bottoms, and Oppai written across the front over…oh, right, boobs.

Tuck, of course, thinks they’re amazing, but he’s a teenage boy, anything with tits is hilarious to him. I picked them up at the mall a couple of years ago, and this was the only size they had left, but they’re some of my favorites. Even though I have to tighten the drawstring on them to keep them from falling off .

Garret, Sam, and Teddy are looking between Steve and me, but Teddy’s the first to speak. “Vee, Honey, I know you find boobs funny, but this seems a bit excessive.” Steve is leaning against the wall, bent over and wheezing, but he can’t seem to stop giggling. He doesn’t stop laughing until Teddy steps over and touches his back. “You ok?” is all our omega gets out before Steve stands up, wiping the tears off his face. He doesn’t look entirely happy, though.

“Fuck me…a full fucking house. The person I have the most in common with is the beta. Seriously?” The glare he throws at Teddy makes him take a step back. His gaze swings back to me, and I’m fully awake now, wondering what spite he’s going to throw at me this time.

“No, seriously, Kelly, I love those pajamas. Totally jealous, in fact, just a bit frustrated at the moment. Sit down, let’s eat, then we can get some rest. Today was too fucking long.” The others all exchange a long look while Steve plops down and starts filling a plate. Not to be delayed when it comes to food, I let Garret move around me to their side of the table so I can sit down as well.

Sam shakes his head before looking us all over. “The kettle’s ready if anybody wants tea with dinner, er…breakfast dinner. And Steve picked up cocoa for later.” He nods at the alpha in question, who barely acknowledges it. “I know you’re tired, Kelly Girl, but we need to sit down and discuss our plans for the next week after dinner. You ok with that? ”

I nod muzzily, tucking into my biscuits and gravy. “Sorry, yeah, sorry. Let me just…um. Hopefully food will wake me up at least a bit, ok?” He just nods in reply, but no one else says anything while we eat.

A s usual, everything Sam makes is delicious. Thankfully, I’m a bit more awake now, though I think that has more to do with the orange juice than the food. My whole body is warm and cozy as I snuggle into Sam’s lap on the couch.

Gosh, but I hope one of the things we’re talking about is getting more furniture.

I don’t want to sound ungrateful.

For the three of us and Jake this was good and cozy.

Now we have alphas spread across the floor, with Jake trying to crawl in their laps.

Funny, but not super helpful.

All eyes go to Teddy as he starts the conversation. “Ok, so, the biggest elephant in the room is my heat…it’ll be starting in a couple weeks now if everything stays consistent.” Two growling purrs fill the air. “Yeah, so. Sam almost has the nest done. I think his plan was to paint tomorrow.” It’s mo re a question than a statement as he looks towards our pack leader, who nods in response.

“Then we can do the floor and get the room set up for the actual event. I’m still waiting for my delivery from Nest-n-Stuff.” He looks at his phone. “It was delayed due to weather, but should be here by Friday. So, the room may be ready by then. Unfortunately, I will need to go back to the courthouse and get a copy of the paperwork we filed with the notarization on it to take to the college, and I’ll need at least one alpha to go with me.”

His gaze turns to the twins, making Sam pout adorably, but Garret speaks next. “We need to head back to Los Angeles anyway to try to get any of our stuff that…Marc didn’t have thrown away.” He looks almost in pain as he bites out the name instead of saying Dad. “We can take the car, since it’s still here, then pick up a moving truck for all our combined stuff and drive it back. If that works for everybody. I know it won’t be cheap, but it seems like the best option. Plus, if we are able to get our furniture, we’ll have something else to sit on.” He smirks as he looks over the three of us on the couch.

Teddy nods his head. “So, we’re looking at least a five to six-day trip. Cost of gas, cost of truck rental, maybe motels, and hope like hell you can get your stuff. I don’t think we should rely on that though. Marc’s a douche. We will need at least a pickup though to clean out my dorm…and a trailer if we don’t have a moving truck.” All eyes turn to Teddy, but he’s staring intently at the wall, his mind spinning out ideas.

“Ok…I know it’ll delay the nest being finished. But how about Sam and Steve come with me back to Los Angeles? They can’t exactly help me clean out my dorm, but they can try to get the apartment taken care of while I pack up.”

Garret snarls in annoyance. “Ugh, the apartment’s in my name, Steve isn’t on the lease. I’ll need to go.” He’s looking longingly at me.

“Sorry, y’all, I need to stay here. I don’t want to leave the guys in the garage in a lurch, and I really need to make sure I don’t fall behind in school.” Garret and Sam nod, Teddy just looks sad, and Steve looks…annoyed.

He opens his mouth, no doubt to say something snarky. “Ugh, fine, you three go.” He waves his finger at the other two alphas and our omega. “I’ll stay here, I can paint the nest…and maybe Sam can show me how to do the floor before you all have to leave. Kelly won’t have to miss work or class. Sam is the lead alpha, so he really should be there, and he can help Garret move furniture if needed. Plus, that way he can drive his truck down so that if we don’t need a full moving van, we don’t have to waste the money.”

He huffs an annoyed sigh when he sees Teddy’s smile. “Besides, Kelly needs someone here in case any of our sperm donors show up looking for me or Garret, or in case Jake knocks her over and lays on her.” He throws me a smug little smirk before Jake launches himself into Steve’s lap. Any mention of his name is a reason for puppy cuddles .

Sam takes Teddy’s hand. “So, Omega, why do you need a trailer?”

Teddy blushes and it’s adorable. “Um…I…kind of have a motorcycle. Sarah helped me rebuild it. I only drive it around town. I’m not comfortable taking it halfway across the country.”

Sam’s growl is slightly menacing. “Please tell me you at least wear a helmet?” Teddy nods dumbly. “Fine, we’ll see if we need a trailer.”

Teddy’s purr kicks up and I nuzzle deeper against Sam’s chest, causing him to start laughing. “Come on, two against one is hardly fair.” But his arms come around both our shoulders, pulling us tighter against him. I’m pretty sure he couldn’t say no to anything Teddy wanted regardless, but I’d still rather have happy Sam than grumpy/stressed Sam.

Garret and Steve look up at us from the floor, Garret staring at me intently. “So, that’s the plan? Fair enough. When do you guys want to leave?” Through much discussion and online research about filing pack paperwork, the guys decide to plan to leave tomorrow or Wednesday. Depending on when they can get the forms to officially transfer Teddy.

I start to doze off to the soft rumble of Sam’s chest, and Teddy’s hands stroking gently over my feet. And I don’t remember anything else until I wake up in a dark room, surrounded by big purring bodies, and an urgent need to get to the bathroom.
