The Red Eye

FELIX

“Another round, please.” The bartender nodded at my request.

I tried to ignore the overwhelming lively crowd of drunk people dancing. Sure, I enjoyed partying my life away back in my early twenties, but I was too old for this shit. And sadly, this was the only place in town I could even step inside as I waited around for Haze.

My phone lit up.

“Ah, speak of the devil.” I looked at the message and smiled, tucking the phone back into my pocket.

So, Indi has finally decided to join Charlotte’s Web. About fucking time.

“I’ll take what he’s having.” My entire body stiffened at the familiar voice.

“You should really be spending Christmas at home with your family, Felix.” I sat up straight and looked over at the man standing next to me.

He was dressed in all black, his light brown hair slicked back as he thanked the bartender for his drink.

His brown eyes met mine and the man smiled.

“Kief.” I instantly fucking regretted being here. “What the hell are you doing here? This club is protected by Charlotte’s Web. Northern Lights isn’t allowed in our domain, not without—”

“Breaking the truce? Oh, we both know it’s a bit too late for that.”

My stomach sank. “So, you know.”

Kief grinned. “Oh, I know everything, Felix. You and your hotheaded brother killed my rat. The one I had tailing your sister.” He made a face.

“You didn’t think that would slip past me now, did you?

” He shook his head. “You know, your brother reminds me of your father. He has that same pent-up anger he did.”

My fists clenched at my side. “Don’t speak about my father. And leave Haze out of this. Him and Indi.”

Kief laughed. “If only I could.” His expression darkened.

“And I’ll speak about my uncle however the fuck I want.

” He pulled out his wallet and tossed a hundred-dollar bill onto the bar.

“You broke the rules, Felix. It’s only fair that I warn you about the consequences.

Besides, what else is family for?” Kief smacked my arm.

“Merry Christmas, cousin. I can’t wait to see how our paths cross in the near future. ”

Fuck.
