Chapter Fifteen

Lewis

Maybe the hole inside me, the one that kept me isolated and removed from other people had finally been healed.

I felt more whole than I ever had.

A rooster, a mile away, but easily picked up by my shifter hearing, crowed. I’d never had to have an alarm clock. The farm always had a rooster that woke with the sun.

I moved slightly to be able to look at Wilder splayed across my chest. One of his legs hooked around mine. Completely naked. We’d thrown the comforter on the floor, so there was nothing here but me, him, and the sheet.

Last night was the best night of my life. Yes, the sex was incredible, but there was more. During our lovemaking, there had been a melding of souls. The bond between fated mates, yes, but it felt all-consuming in the best way possible.

This man was in my heart now.

He stirred, unlocking his legs from mine, and turned over, his cock hard and ready as was mine.

And then my bear felt his hunger. He was tired. Thirsty. Sated.

That last one might’ve boosted my ego.

But the other things took priority over my needy cock. I had an omega to feed.

“Mmm, where are you going?” he asked as I moved away from him. I found the comforter on the chest and pulled it over his still-sleeping form. His eyes were closed.

Goddess, I had one gorgeous mate.

“Making breakfast. Sleep, love.” I kissed his forehead and, before I even arrived at the bedroom door, he was softly snoring again.

Good. He needed rest after the night we had.

After using the restroom and taking a quick shower, I made my way to the kitchen and got to work.

I had a plan. Fluffy, honey-butter pancakes with blueberry compote.

Crispy bacon. Vegetable quiche. Peach cobbler.

The last one wasn’t necessarily breakfast, but I wanted it, and who said it had to be for dessert only?

Not me.

An hour later, I’d cooked up a breakfast for the books, along with coffee—because coffee was nonnegotiable.

I’d settled down with my mug when I heard noise from the other room. Wilder was up and moving around my house.

My mate. In my house.

I closed my eyes and soaked up the moment. All my life, I’d dreamed of an omega. Someone to be a partner. To laugh and share my life with.

And now he was here. Wilder showered and used the restroom. I’d left an extra toothbrush on the counter.

Then I heard him zip up his jeans.

What a shame. I was hoping for a naked omega for breakfast.

His footsteps padded down the hallway. When he came into the kitchen, my whole world shifted. I would do just about anything to make him smile like that every morning I could.

“Morning,” I said

He rushed over and kissed me hard, grinding his hips against mine. “Good morning, alpha. I need coffee.”

Chuckling, I pointed to the pot. “There’s sugar and honey and creamer. Half and half. Heavy cream. I didn’t…”

“Honey and heavy cream are the best. Thank you.” While he stirred his coffee, he glanced over at the oven where all the food I cooked was waiting for him to dig in. “What did you do?”

“I was hungry. My bear knew you were hungry. I cooked.”

“You went all out, alpha. Thank you. I usually grab coffee and a granola bar and run down to the shop.”

“Not anymore, you won’t. My dad always said nothing could be done without a good breakfast in your stomach. He cooked for my father every single morning.”

“Can I dig in? You were right. I am starving.”

I winked at him. He instantly blushed. “I wore you out last night.”

He nodded. “And twice before dawn.”

We made our plates and sat at the table to eat. We both had hearty appetites, and it did my bear good to see Wilder eat what I’d prepared for him. His moans rivaled the ones from the night before.

This was what my life was missing.

“Do you have to work today?” I asked him, already not looking forward to letting him go.

“No. The shop is closed today. I have to restock and make new items, but I usually don’t go in until noon or so. What about you?”

“I planned to relax as well. Get a few house chores done. But those things can wait.”

“Good. I’d like to stay. Maybe you could give me a tour of the whole farm?”

I felt my mouth rise in a rare smile, but I hoped they wouldn’t be so rare anymore now that Wilder was around. “I’d really like that. Let’s get dressed. Can’t walk around the farm naked, as much as that appeals to me.”

Wilder got up but then stopped. “You’re not going to make me touch a bee, are you?”

I laughed and shook my head. “Not today, omega. Maybe another time.”
