Chapter 20
Seconds pass, and my arousal increases, making me fuck her harder but slower.
I want to enjoy every inch of her wet core, greedily swallowing my cock deeper and deeper.
She doesn’t reply, but she can’t keep her mouth shut, either.
Her moans sound louder by the second, sending shockwaves through my cock.
The second knock on the door isn’t just an interruption. It aggravates my nerves and makes me impatient.
My grip on her throat tightens, and I pound harder into her, causing her legs to shake.
“Should I stop fucking you, Kate?ina?” I whisper.
She groans. “Please, don’t.”
I touch my forehead to her temple. “It’s your chance to break free.”
“I don’t want to break free,” she pants.
I already knew it, babe. You’re just too afraid to embrace the madness that has already consumed you.
I smirk to myself. “You’re such a fucking good and sick girl after all.”
A third knock sounds. “Cain, I’m sorry, but it’s important,” Grayson says behind the door.
What I’m doing is far more important than whatever the hell he has to say.
“You’re mine, Kate?ina,” I say, my hand sinking lower, catching her clit between my fingers.
“I’m … “ she pants louder, running out of breath. “I’m yours.”
“Mine.”
I thrust.
“Yes.”
“Mine.”
Thrust.
“I’m coming!” She lets out a loud whisper, her body tensing, embracing the climax.
“All fucking mine.”
I thrust harder, leaving my cock sinking deep inside her as my fingers move faster on her.
Fuck, I can’t hold it any longer.
I pull back and finish on her, drenching the back of her top.
That was …
Without saying a word, she scurries to the bathroom. After a few seconds to catch my breath, I zip up my pants and go to answer Grayson.
“What is it?”
“The cop wants to talk to you,” Grayson attests, giving me a solemn expression. I know that look on him. He’s worried about something. “I’m sorry, Cain. I couldn’t do anything else.”
“It’s okay, buddy.” I pat his shoulder. “I’ll deal with him myself.”
I walk out of her room and lock her in. With a slow breath, I straighten my shirt, roll my shoulders, and step toward the front door.
Let’s see what kind of bullshit they think they can pin on me this time.
I open the door and see them standing. Waiting. They’re stiff, eyes sharp, hands twitching too close to their holsters. I guess they know exactly who I am. They just haven’t decided if they’re stupid enough to push me.
I lean against the doorframe, arms crossed, a smirk just barely curling my lips.
“Yes?”
One of them clears his throat, but his voice is steady and controlled. “A woman went missing a couple of weeks ago. Her name is Kate?ina R??i?ková.”
I stare at him silently. People disappear all the time. Some more permanently than others.
“And?” I ask, without moving a single muscle.
The other cop steps forward, shoulders squared, eyes locked on mine like he’s daring me to flinch. “Her roommate recognized you from TV. She said she saw you that morning, and you were flirting with the missing girl.”
I tilt my head slightly, my gaze turning ice cold. “And?” I repeat slower this time.
The first cop exhales steadily, like he’s bracing himself. “She hasn’t used her phone or credit cards since that night. No calls, no sightings. She just vanished.”
His partner doesn’t react. “And her roommate says she saw you talking to her that morning.”
We established that.
I don’t speak, and the awkward silence swallows them.
I watch the way their shoulders stay tight and their fingers hover just a little too close to their guns. They’re waiting for a reaction. If they only knew.
“Talking,” I repeat, rolling the word around on my tongue. “Is that a crime now?”
The bolder cop doesn’t look away. “Where were you that night?”
I tap my fingers against my arm, pretending to think. “Busy.”
His jaw tightens. “Doing what?”
My smirk sharpens. “You really want me to answer that?”
The first cop stiffens and is uncomfortable, but the other one doesn’t back down. He stares at me like he thinks he can make me cave. Like he doesn’t know whose house he’s standing in.
I step outside the doorframe, walking closer to the brave one. “If you had something on me, you wouldn’t be wasting my precious time by standing here asking me stupid questions.” My voice drops. “So unless you have a warrant, get the fuck off my property.”
The first cop swallows hard. The second gives me an infuriated look. I guess I hit a nerve and proved how stupid they are.
For a second, I almost hope he pushes. I nearly catch myself wishing they’d give me a reason to expand my collection of heads.
“Fine.” He rubs his chin. “We’ll keep an eye on you.”
“You do that,” I murmur, my voice dripping with amusement. “But you won’t like what you’ll see.”
“Is that a threat, Mr. Manson?”
I blink and remain silent; I merely let my gaze linger on his eyes for a bit longer.
He doesn’t move, doesn’t look away. He’s funny, actually.
I glance at my watch. “Are we done here?”
A muscle in his jaw twitches. He doesn’t like that I’m not playing by his rules. But rules only matter to people who need them.
“For now.”
I nod once and step back into the doorway. “Ladies, have a good one.” I shut the door.
Out of all the sins tied to my name, all the blood staining my hands, I never thought Kate?ina would be the one they came looking for.
Is it …? Fuck, it can’t be him.
I pull out my phone and check the cops through the surveillance system. They’re finally leaving.
“Boss?” Landon comes closer. “What did they want?”
“They were just poking around. They think they’re looking for something. But they won’t find it.”
“Do you want me to handle them? Make sure they don’t come back?”
“Don’t waste your time on them. You have better things to do.”
I catch the flash of disappointment in his eyes. It kinda makes me want to laugh. He’s always hungry for blood, as if it’s the only thing that keeps him from falling apart. But that’s not my problem right now.
“Whatever you say,” he mutters, without pushing me further. He’s not stupid. He just likes the work.
I can’t stop thinking about it. Why the hell are they looking for her here? Why now, after all this time?
“Landon?” The words slip out before I can stop them.
His gaze sharpens, waiting for more. “Yes, boss?”
I glance away for a second, trying to piece it together in my head. “You think he’s behind all this?”
Landon shakes his head. “He wouldn’t drag the cops into it.”
I consider that. It doesn’t feel right, but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong. Still, something gnaws at me. I need more answers. “One way or another, I need to see for myself. I need to meet with that Emily.”
“I can handle it.”
My eyes lock onto him. “No. I said I will. I need to see for myself what the fuck she told the cops.”
Landon’s expression hardens. “And what if she’s a danger?”
I step closer, tucking my hands in my pants pockets. “Then I’ll eliminate the threat.”
