Chapter 17

Saniyah

“Wait, what? What the hell you mean you been fuckin’ both of them for months? And you just now telling me?” Nazuri yelled into the phone.

It was the Friday before the party, and I had just told her about the relationship I’d been hiding for months.

My heart beat fast because I was sure Nazuri didn’t understand exactly what I was saying.

My hands began to sweat as I became more and more nervous of her reaction.

Whatever she said wasn’t going to stop me from seeing them.

However, she was the closest thing I had to family, and I wanted her to be happy for me.

This was the happiest I’d ever been in a relationship, and I wanted my best friend to understand that.

“It’s not just the sex. We’re in love,” I informed.

“Bitch, which one you in love with? How you in love with one but fuckin’ the other?

Ohhh, you messy, bitch. You not scared to get fired if they find out about each other?

Bitch, I gotta admit that I didn’t think you had it in you.

Word of advice, start putting money to the side so you’ll be good when they find out because they gon’ find out.

It may not be tomorrow but make sure you’re good when they do. ”

“Yeah, I don’t think you understand what I’m saying.”

“I ain’t stupid. I can comprehend. I heard exactly what you said. You fuckin’ yo’ bosses. You love one. I heard you when you said it.”

“Zuri, I’m fuckin’ them both, together. I’m in love with them both, and they both love me. It’s more than us fuckin’ because we’re together.”

“Say what now, bitch?”

I burst out laughing because I could only imagine the look on Nazuri’s face when she realized what I was actually telling her. She paused for a moment, not saying a word, and that scared me more. When I called her name, she burst out into laughter.

“Bitch, you a freak. I had no idea you could get down like that. You getting trains and shit ran on you? Bitch, tell me everything!”

“No, I don’t get any trains ran on me. When we’re together, we are all together.”

“Bitch, hold up! They fuck each other too? Is that what you tellin’ me?”

I could hear the tone of her voice, and I didn’t know if she was disgusted or intrigued. Either way, it wasn’t going to stop me. I was too deep in and wasn’t letting up on either of them for nobody ever. Nothing compared to the way they made me feel, and I didn’t give a damn who was with it.

“Girl, I didn’t call you to talk about the way we fuck. I called you because Crue’s mother’s birthday is tomorrow, and they having a party for her. Both of their parents are going to be there, and when I told them that you were the only family I had, they told me to bring you.”

There was no way I was going to tell Nazuri how freaky we actually got. If she knew about the things we did just on our vacation, who knows what she would say? What we did in the bedroom wasn’t to be talked about with anyone else unless we brought you in, so Nazuri would never know the real.

“Oh, bitch, I get to meet both of your boyfriends? You damn right I’m there,” Nazuri assured.

“Thank you, bitch, and don’t embarrass me. This is going to be my first time meeting their families, and this is very important to me.”

“Oh, you in love for real, huh? I got you, bestie. I’ma be on my best behavior.”

I ended the call, letting her know that I was going to pick her up at three-thirty.

I knew I would really be there at four-thirty because the party didn’t start until five.

However, I wanted Nazuri to be ready to walk out the door when I got there.

So, I gave her an earlier time. After that, I walked into my room to find something to wear.

I had dozens of clothes with tags still on them and shoes that I had never wore, so in my mind, it shouldn’t have been hard to find something.

However, I went through several outfits, trying to find the perfect one to make a good first impression on their parents.

About two hours later, I had finally settled on a pale-yellow cotton dress that stopped at my ankles.

It had thin straps on the shoulders and tightened at the bust before flowing out.

I laid it across the chair in my room before picking out a pair of white sandals and a yellow and white scarf that I was going to tie around my neck.

I had a hair appointment at ten in the morning, so I had everything set.

Crue texted me and asked if I was excited about tomorrow.

The truth was, I was nervous as hell. This was going to be the first time they told their parents about us, and I had no clue how they were going to react.

What if they hated me? What if they despised the dynamics of our relationship?

Would that change anything between the three of us?

I really loved their sons, and I just hoped they could see that.

I sat in the salon chair, looking in the mirror, shaking my head as I watched my hair bounce.

My stylist had just installed the sleekest, softest bob I’d ever had.

It was jet black with a sharp middle part and curled under my chin.

I tilted my head from side to side, staring at myself in the mirror, while the stylist sprayed one last mist of shine across my hair.

I looked good as hell and hadn’t even gotten dressed yet.

“You got plans tonight?” the stylist asked while removing the cape.

I grabbed my purse off the counter and nodded my head. “It’s my man’s mama’s birthday, and he’s throwing her a party.”

“Oh, okay. I see you. Well, have fun tonight.”

“I will, and I just Cash App’d you,” I replied as I walked out the door.

The weather outside was beautiful. The sun was shining bright, and the breeze was warm, a perfect day for a party.

I slid my sunglasses on as I walked toward my car, shaking my head, allowing my hair to flow.

I got inside the car and turned on Cardi B before I pulled off.

The closer it got to five o’clock, the more nervous I became.

I just wanted their families to like me, and I hoped they saw this relationship for what it truly was, love.

My phone rang through the speakers a few seconds later. I smiled when I saw it was Kadeem and answered immediately.

“Hey, baby.”

“I just wanted to see how you were doing. I can’t wait to see you today.”

“I can’t wait to see you either. I’m good, just leaving the salon.”

“Oh, I know you lookin’ good.”

I smiled to myself while turning onto my street. “You’ll see it later.”

“Shit, I’m ready to see you now. I might need to come over there and let you ride this dick before the party.”

I laughed, letting him know that all that would have to wait until after the party. I still had a lot to do to get ready for today, and there was no way I was going to be late. Grabbing my purse, I walked up to my door, still on the phone with Kadeem.

“You know it’s no reason for you to be nervous,” Kadeem spoke.

“Who said I was nervous?”

“You didn’t have to say it. I know you.”

I took in a deep breath as I walked in and closed the door behind me. I leaned against it as I let the breath out. “I just want y’all parents to like me. Us bringing this relationship to the forefront is a big deal, and I just want it to go well.”

“Baby, you’re over thinking this way too much. Everything is going to be fine. Our people will love you because we do. So, just relax and do what you gotta do to be at the party.”

“Okay, baby. I hear you,” I spoke as I relaxed some.

“I love you, and I’ll see you later.”

“I love you too,” I replied before ending the call.

Walking into my bathroom, I wrapped my hair up before getting in the shower.

When I was done, I put on my robe and walked into my bedroom.

I hooked my phone up to my Bluetooth speaker and turned on some music.

For a moment, I sat on my bed, listening to SZA, before I started getting dressed.

I wanted to take my time so that I could make sure everything was perfect.

I rubbed lotion onto my body before I put on my bra and panty set.

After, I took my time and applied my makeup, nothing too heavy, just a light beat that I finished off with setting spray to hold it in place.

I checked the time, seeing that I only had an hour before it was time for me to leave.

Once I was dressed and sprayed myself with perfume, I grabbed my purse and was ready to walk out the door.

By the time I pulled up outside Nazuri’s house, it was four twenty-five. Getting out the car, I walked up the walkway and walked in the door. She was sitting on her couch, smoking a blunt, as she looked up at me.

“Bitch, we were supposed to leave an hour ago,” Nazuri spoke as she puffed from her blunt.

“Bitch, please. Don’t try to act like you was ready. I’m sure you just got dressed.”

“I been dressed for the last fifteen minutes, but that isn’t the point.”

I laughed, shaking my head. Nazuri stood to her feet and put her blunt out in the ashtray.

She wore a burnt-orange halter dress that hugged every single curve she had.

The dress stopped at her mid-thigh, showing off her thick legs.

Her honey-blonde curls were layered and full, falling all down her back, while dramatic lashes framed sharp brown eyes.

Gold bangles were stacked on one wrist, while gold strappy heels adorned her feet.

“Okay, bitch, I see you. You look good, sis.”

“Thanks, so do you. Looking like old money with that scarf tied around yo’ neck. And that bob is fire.”

“Thanks, girl. But we gotta go. I can’t be nervous and late,” I spoke as I made my way to the door.

“What you nervous for, girl?”

I turned around and looked into her eyes. “Girl, what if their parents don’t like me or don’t understand our relationship?”

“Girl, please. I’m sure they gon’ love you. You say Crue and Kadeem love you, right?” she asked as we walked out the door.

“Yeah, they both love me very much.”
