CHAPTER 15 #2

“Good for you, Lucy.” Murph mumbled under his breath as we passed the few stragglers in the tunnel.

I gave him a pleading look, basically begging him not to rile her up. I did need this job. I didn't want to get a suspension because my girlfriend beat up the opposing team's goons.

But fuck, would I have loved to see it.

The cold air blew her hair out of her face, her cheeks were red. Multiple times she tried to pull her hand away when we walked to my car, but I wouldn't let her go. I could hear her heavy breathing. Could feel her pulse pounding under my fingers. She was humming with rage.

My Lucifer.

We got to my car and I walked to the passenger side, opening the door and releasing her hand. She snapped it to her side and sat in the seat with a huff and a stamp. She pulled the door closed behind her with a slam.

I placed my bag in the trunk and got into the driver's seat. I started the car and didn't say a word. We drove for a good ten minutes. No radio, just anger floating in the car.

She gave herself a ten-minute penalty, but when it was up she started talking, popping off like a steam valve.

“He was a dick for doing that to you and he deserved it. That is just how I am, I'm not sorry. I won't apologize for jumping down his throat when he did that to you. Then he had the audacity to tease you in the tunnel. FUUUUCCK that. Fuck that guy. I'm not sorry.”

She was spiraling. Unable to stop talking, to stop rambling. She was so jacked up on adrenaline she didn't even know how to come down.

Oh, how I wish I could see her play hockey. She would annihilate.

The worst thing was she kept trying to explain herself like she knew I was mad at her. But I wasn't. I didn't give a fuck that she made a scene in front of everyone or could have possibly gotten me in trouble. I couldn't care less how it looked to everyone who heard her.

But as she rambled on, I had to figure out how I did feel. It was a weird pride, a tingling in my chest I couldn't put my finger on.

“I'm not going to let people fuck with you.” She crossed her arms over her chest and kept on rambling.

But that line is what made everything very clear.

I saw a miraculously empty street parking spot behind a delivery truck and a screeched to a halt. The action shocked her into silence. But I think it scared her a little too as she quickly grabbed for the door handle. I didn't doubt that if she felt threatened, she would leave me in a second.

She snapped her neck at me, those fiery eyes setting me a flame.

“I'm fucking pissed.” I growled.

Maybe I shouldn't have started it off that way, but she jumped all over me.

“Yeah, get in line buddy. Everyone is fucking pissed at me. Here comes Lucifer with her dumb nasty mouth.” She rolled her eyes, her face scrunched with regret, about to bail from the car.

“No!” I pointed at her hand squeezing the handle. “I've had to hear you go off now you're gonna hear me.”

Her head leaned back and rested on the seat. She thought she was going to get a scolding. She thought she was going to get torn into.

“I'm fucking pissed. And I'm pissed because–” I had to take a deep breath, collecting my thoughts. My voice was raised and I didn't want that. “Because, no one steps up for me like that.”

Her head lifted from the rest and looked at me, but I still couldn't look at her. If I did, I wouldn't be able to say what I wanted to say without kissing her.

“I take care of everyone on the team. I take the hits and the shit, but I handle it on my own so they can make the shots.

But you rode in like my knight in fucking armor.

At the first sign you jumped all over that guy defending me.

Defending me! You were going to knock him on his ass and...

and I can't even fuck you.” I had to swallow because my mouth went dry.

I hit the steering wheel with my hand, hard enough for it to sting.

“I can't even thank you with my cock in your cunt, properly.

All night long. So, I'm fucking pissed.” My head fell back now, unsure of how she was going to react now that I raised my voice.

She could blow up even further, she could walk away.

I heard the car door open and before I could ask her to wait, she was outside. Her back against the window, her black hair almost disappearing in the night. She stood for a moment, her body tense, still.

But then she turned.

My heart jumped into my throat.

Lucy walked around the front of my car, on fire.

She came to the driver's door and opened it, ducked her head inside and crawled on top of me.

Her legs straddling me, her body pressed against mine.

No room to move, to breathe, with both of our large bodies crammed against the steering wheel.

The door shut beside us. She took my wrist and held them behind my head, tight.

I couldn't breathe. I was so taken back, so mesmerized by her actions I didn't know what to do.

And, Jesus, I was hard.

“I–” she started to speak, but couldn't.

Instead, she traced the soft pad of my lips with her tongue. She sucked on them, all while holding my hands in place behind us. She moaned into my mouth with such pleasure I thought I would pass out.

I kept still, letting her take my mouth, kissing her back once her tongue went deep behind my lips. I groaned, lifting my hips into her.

She pulled back and gazed into my eyes. Lightly kissing my cut. She then traced kisses down my cheek and then to my neck, nuzzling her face into me.

If I died right then, I would be satisfied.

“I–I won't say I'm sorry. I can't say sorry for doing what I felt was right. But, if my actions are going to get you in trouble then I do apologize. I just–” She leaned back, bringing my hands around the back of her waist.

I leaned forward and kissed her neck and collarbone. Her skin was hot and I couldn't help how hard my dick got while she was on top of me. She cooed and murmured as I felt every inch of her soft skin.

I was relieved.

“I was trying to play it cool when I saw your stitches.

I didn't want you to think I was going to worry all the time. But when that dick was trying to be cute, I lost it. I could have handled it better.” Lucy grabbed my face and pulled it close to her mouth.

“But I will never stop defending you. I– I like you.” She kissed me so slowly.

This deep warmth shuddered my body and just for a moment I thought my eyes got wet. I couldn't believe how safe she made me feel. Not that I expected her to protect me, but the fact that she always would try, she would jump at the chance. I never had that before. It was overwhelming.

“Don't apologize. You–You– Thank you.” I put my hands in her hair and held her to my mouth.

“But Sarge, about the fucking–”

I reared back. “Sorry I said that. I wasn't trying to make you feel guilty. A lot of emotions tumbled out at once. I have no problems with waiting until we figure your health out first. That is most import–” She placed her hand over my mouth to shut me up.

“We can still do other things.” Her lips curled and her hips pushed down on me and I about orgasmed against her.

Oh, this woman.

“Buckle up.” I picked her up and tossed her back into her seat.

She yelped and giggled and placed her hand over her heart, relief washing over the both of us.

I found her hand in the darkness as I started to drive again.

“Well, our first fight went pretty well.” I pulled out of the parking spot.

“That was a miscommunication. I thought you were going to hate me for being Lucifer so I got pissed at myself in the car while you liked it?” Her eyes caught mine, question washing over her face.

“Yeah, I did.” I smirked and could see the instant her body relaxed, the realization that I wasn't going to hate her actions allowing her to melt into the seat.

“I should have knocked him out for calling you a bitch though. I just thought you were the more dangerous of the two and needed to remove you from the situation.”

“That was probably for the best. I don't want you to ever hurt anyone for my actions. I've been known to cause trouble I guess, so removal is the best course of action.” She swiped her hand into the air like a karate chop.

It made me laugh so hard my already strained abs clenched. “You got it.”

My apartment was only ten more minutes away. The air in the car was palpable. I kept rubbing the soft inside of her wrist with my thumb, driving myself crazy. If it was doing anything for her, I wouldn't know. She was silent as the grave after our conversation. Her breath shallow, her mouth shut.

“I'll get your door.” My voice was hoarse.

As the time grew, so did our anticipation.

Lucy watched me walk around and held out my hand to help her out of the car. I didn't let her go. We got to the elevator and said nothing. Silence still blanketing us when we reached my door. But while no words were spoken out loud, our bodies couldn't shut up.
