Chapter 8

CHAPTER 8

BEN

Later that evening, as I was preparing for our date—which was supposed to be a movie and picnic under the stars in a local park—clouds covered the moon and the sky rumbled ominously. I grabbed provisions from my place and headed out to the car to make my way to Cody’s apartment.

Just as soon as I pulled into the parking lot of the building, the sky opened up. I grabbed the things I needed from the back seat and ran inside as quickly as I could, trying not to get too soaked. A few minutes later, I was standing at the door to Cody’s apartment, arms loaded down with bags, gently kicking it to knock, considering my hands were full.

Cody opened the door a moment later. "Oh my God, are you planning to feed an army?" He laughed before he reached out and took two bags from me, alleviating my burden somewhat.

"I just came prepared."

He frowned. "It’s raining. We can’t go have a picnic in the park now."

I shrugged, stepping inside and placing my bags on the floor by his front door. "I’m not worried about the park. I brought the picnic to you. I thought we could do something a little silly."

"Like what?"

"Just follow my lead." I made my way into his living room and began to dismantle his sofa, removing cushions and pillows and stacking them strategically.

"What are you doing? "

"Shh. Hand me the blanket." Cody did as I asked, so I draped the blanket over the cushions, stood back, and grinned. "Ta-da. A fort."

Cody laughed and rolled his eyes, but it was a fond gesture, not derisive. "What’s next?"

"Dinner," I said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "Duh."

"Dinner in a blanket fort?"

I shrugged, kicking off my shoes before crawling in, tugging the bags along with me. "Why not?"

His smile was soft and tender. "No reason." A moment later, he joined me in the fort.

"Perfect," I said, unloading the bags of food. I pulled out sandwiches, fruit, and cheese—standard picnic fare—and spread them on the blanket between us. "Dig in."

Cody picked up a sandwich and took a bite. After he chewed for a moment, he nodded. "Okay, this is good."

“The sandwich or the fort?”

His cheeks reddened slightly, a pleasant blush coloring his face. “Both.”

"Told you so," I said, laughing again.

"Hey, don’t be mad at me for being a skeptic. I haven’t had a blanket fort since I was in elementary school."

“Exactly the point. Forts are fun. Why not bring back some nostalgia on a rainy night while we’re stuck inside?”

"You’re right. No need to let the rain ruin our fun." A few quiet moments passed. "You know, this reminds me of when I was a little kid."

"Yeah?"

He nodded. "I always wanted to go out and play in the rain, but my parents never let me. It was too risky. I’d probably catch a cold, they always said."

"Isn’t that just an old wives’ tale?"

He shrugged and popped a strawberry into his mouth. "Probably." A beat passed. "What about you? What’s something you always wanted to do as a kid but your parents would never let you do?"

I thought about it for a moment. "It’s silly."

"It isn't. I promise."

"I always wanted to learn how to ride a horse."

Cody was quiet for a moment. "That’s cool. I’ve never done that either. Maybe one day we can go together."

After another second or two, I shook my head to clear my mind. "I have an idea."

"You’re full of ideas tonight, aren’t you?"

"Always," I said. "Now, come on." I made my way out of the fort and stood, holding my hand out to help him stand. Once he was out, I led the way to his front door.

"Wait, where are we going?"

I grinned slowly and quirked an eyebrow at him. "To play in the rain."

"But—"

"Nope. No excuses. We’re doing it." I shooed Cody out the door and we made our way outside and into the parking lot behind his building. For a moment, we stood under the awning, watching the rain come down in torrential sheets. "Ready?"

He took a shaky breath. "I guess so." With that, we stepped out onto the sidewalk and into the rain. Cody laughed loudly and shook his head. "This is ridiculous."

I shrugged. "Come here." I took his hand and pulled him close, kissing him slowly as the rain streamed down our faces. We kissed for a long time, the rain continuing to drench us as we did. When I finally broke the kiss, I kept Cody close and began to sway gently to an unheard melody.

"What are you doing now?" His tone was skeptical.

"Dancing with you in the rain."

He leaned into me, letting me move him side to side slowly, as if we were in high school. As we danced, the rain slowed to a drizzle, and then stopped completely. Once the downpour ended, I stepped back and met Cody’s gaze.

"We should probably go inside," he said quietly. "Dry off and warm up."

I nodded slowly, trying to interpret his words. "Lead the way."

We headed inside, leaving puddles as we went, dripping a trail of water to Cody’s apartment. Immediately after stepping inside, he stripped his soaked shirt off and dropped it to the tiled floor of the entryway. His apartment felt chilly to my soaked skin and a shiver racked me.

Cody cleared his throat. "We could take a hot shower. You know, to warm up."

"That sounds amazing." I followed him to the bathroom and stripped myself bare as he turned on the water and slowly, the bathroom filled with steam. Once my clothes were in a puddle on the floor, I stepped into the spacious shower, my breath hitching to see Cody fully naked and standing in front of me. Our gazes met for several seconds before I stepped in and kissed him, Cody groaning immediately. Between us, his cock thickened, pressing against me, and feeling his arousal, my body responded.

I crowded into his space, backing him up until he was against the shower wall, kissing him fiercely and pushing a hand between us to grip his erection. The moment my fist tightened around his shaft, he groaned again, bucking up into my touch. I released him, which caused a whine to escape from his throat, before kissing him firmly one more time and spinning him around.

Cody gasped and groaned, shoving his ass back toward me. I dragged my fingers along his crease slowly, teasingly, before leaning forward to whisper in his ear.

"Not sure if I need to ask this or not, but… how do you feel about bottoming?"

He gave me a helpless chuckle before responding. "Fuck me. Please."

"Do you need some help to warm up?" I dragged my finger over the tight muscle of his hole and teased at his opening. When he shook his head feverishly, I pushed the finger inside him. "Good. How about condoms?"

His voice was broken and desperate as he responded. "I’m on PrEP. All negative."

Relief flooded through me. I wouldn’t have minded if he’d said yes, of course, but I was eager to get started, my cock hard and leaking already, and condoms would’ve slowed us down. "Me too,” I murmured.

Cody groaned again. “Just a second. Lube.” He stepped out of the shower and disappeared into his bedroom for a moment before returning with a bottle and a wicked grin.

It only took a few seconds to lube my cock and his hole, and soon enough, I was lining up and sliding inside him.

Cody moaned softly and dropped his forehead against the wall, his hands flattening and bracing his body. I eased in slowly, not wanting to rush things or hurt him, despite the fact that he said he didn’t need any warming up, holding his hips hard as I guided him back onto me. When I bottomed out, he moaned again and reached down with one hand, gripping his own cock.

I pulled out then and thrust into him in one fluid motion. Cody arched his back as I took him, pushing his ass into me, taking me deeper. His hot ass was tight around my cock, and he gripped me hard every time I pushed inside. I quickly set a steady pace, Cody fucking his own fist as I took him, the slick sounds of our wet bodies meeting filling the small bathroom as the shower rained down on me.

"I’m close," he muttered with a groan as I pounded into his body.

Through gritted teeth, I inhaled sharply, yanking him back onto my cock harder. A few seconds later, his muscles clenched around me, Cody letting out an obscene groan as he came.

My orgasm tore through me a fraction of a second later as his ass tightened around me again and again. The sensation threatened to overwhelm me. I leaned forward and nipped his shoulder as I unloaded into him, my cock throbbing as it pulsed inside his body.

I stilled as my orgasm subsided, easing out a moment later. Cody turned and kissed me again, languidly, before reaching over and shutting off the water.

"I think we’re warm enough, don’t you?"

With a laugh, I nodded and kissed him again. "I’d say so."

He stepped out of the shower, over the pile of soaked clothes, and passed me a towel before wrapping himself in one as well. "Guess we’d better get these into the dryer, huh? You didn’t happen to bring backup clothes, did you? My dryer is the slowest thing on the planet. These are probably going to take ninety minutes to dry. "

I frowned and shook my head. "I wasn’t exactly planning on dancing in the rain when I showed up."

Cody gave me a sly smile. "I guess you’ll just have to spend the night then."

My stomach fluttered, at thoughts of the possibilities a sleepover brought us. "I guess I will."
