3. Capri

. . .
Don and Captain Delgato came into this world and were both beautiful. They came in weighing five pounds and some ounces a piece. I had only been able to see them through pictures because I was heading out the country. They looked like the perfect mixture of Cappadonna and Alaia.
While Don resembled Capella, it was funny how Captain favored Promise. You couldn’t tell Cappadonna that his sperm didn’t create Promise. I was starting to second guess the shit myself because how the twins looked like both Promise and their parents was crazy. Then, when I went to look at a picture of Rory, Don looked exactly identical to his nephew. Rory favored both Capella and Cappadonna, and there was no denying that he was a Delgato, and now Don did, too.
It made me excited to see my own baby when she came into the world. I wondered if she would have tamed curly hair like her big sister and grandmother, or would she have my untamed frizzy curls that I hated, but her father loved.
Meer loved when I wore my hair curly, but it took so much to maintain. Meanwhile, Ryder and Mina could just wake up and their hair was perfect. I craved curls that just fell perfectly on my head when I woke up like them.
“Wheels up in a few,” Corleon said, as he took his seat across from me, and across from Skyler. Aimee sat across from him.
Since Morgan had to get out the country quickly, Meer charted a jet to get me to Monaco. He and Sim flew out a few days ago to get there before me. I missed my husband so much and it had only been a few days.
As I watched him put his Goyard duffle bag onto his arm, swagger out our home, and get into the black car, I wanted to run behind him, but I knew we would be reunited in a few days.
He didn’t want to leave me alone, but Yasin and Goon had been staying at the house with me while he was away. Nobody was coming through that damn door without losing their lives.
Quameer didn’t play about his wife and his daughter being alone while he was out the country. If he checked in through the security cameras one more time, I was gonna rip them out my damn self.
If that wasn’t enough, Capone happened to be in the neighborhood while Meer was gone. I knew they wanted me protected so I didn’t complain too much.
Just as I was excited to be getting this shit over with Morgan, now I had to come home and end Tasha for good. I didn’t want to hear shit when I put my metal to her head.
I had three bullets with her name on it, and I wasn’t going to miss with each bullet. I wasn’t letting up on her until I knew she took her last breath.
“You alright?” Aimee questioned.
“I’m good… tired. I don’t sleep well when Quameer isn’t in bed with me,” I admitted.
I used to think I couldn’t sleep unless someone was in the bed with me, but that wasn’t true. I couldn’t sleep right unless I was next to my husband. It was his soft snores, the sudden pull of me into him, and his scent that helped me sleep peacefully at night.
Ryder hopped up in the back of my car and smiled at me with her little overnight bag in tow. Since I was flying out in the morning, we were going to the lake house since it was closer to the private airport than the house near the city.
“Make sure you put your seatbelt on, my love,” I looked at her through the rearview mirror, and she clicked it.
“All done, Suga,” she chirped, excited because CJ was at his father’s house and they both had a plan to play the PlayStation and watch movies.
Goon looked at me, and I nodded, and he pulled out so I could pull out of the driveway. I sped behind Goon in the small, yet narrow street leading to the house.
The minute I turned onto the street, I peeped Yasin get on my right side, and more Gods block us in as we made our way to the highway. “God-uncles… hey uncles!” Ryder rolled her window down and waved to them.
They nodded. “What up, Mini Lady Inferno,” Yasin spoke, since he was on her side and closer.
Ryder smiled. “Wanna buy lemonade when we make it to the lake house?” My girl was a hustler.
“Yeah, but let Unc get you there… okay? I got all the lady Infernos in one car… you know yo’ daddy want you safe, right?”
“Yep!”
“Then let Uncle focus, okay?” I added in, as we turned off the street toward the highway.
“Okay… be safe, Uncle Sin!” She saluted him, and he saluted back, and pushed forward while another one took his place.
I merged onto the highway, and we were all in formation as we blew it down the highway, with a few looking out for cops to avoid being pulled over. It was a lot going from Capri, the Delgato twin’s little sister, to Quameer Inferno’s wife, Lady Inferno.
Ryder saw the Gods as her uncles, but she had no clue that these same men would die for her, me, and her sister in my stomach. We were Inferno royalty, and as they protected us from all angles on this highway, it showed.
“What the fuck?” I hollered when a mask man came up on the fucking jet. I had zoned out thinking about Ryder and opened my eyes to see a man getting on our jet.
Corleon, Yasin, and Goon all had pulled their guns and Forty took the ski mask off. “I’m riding out with y’all.”
“Fuck you meannnn, we almost fucking popped yo’ ass… next time send a fucking warning.” His eyes followed behind him, and his brother, Governor Johnson, got on behind him.
Devon was dressed down in a regular Nike sweatsuit, and a hat and sunglasses on. If you weren’t paying attention, you wouldn’t have known it was him.
“Oh, shit… what up, sir?” Yasin reached to shake his hand, and Devon shook his hand.
“Drop the sir, please.” Devon laughed.
Skyler moved from sitting across from me, and sat next to me while Devon and Forty sat across from us. “Hey Governor Johnson, and Forty.” I rolled my eyes when I looked at Forty.
“The fuck is with the attitude, Baby Doll?”
“Tasha, that’s the problem… that bitch shot at my brother and needs to be handled… ain’t she a prisoner, shouldn’t she be back behind bars?”
“So much shit has fell on my damn desk since David checked out… she called me and asked what she should be doing and I told her to sit tight… be patient. We right here… shit is being put into play behind the scenes, even if it doesn’t feel like it.”
I believed and trusted Forty, and knew things were being put in place. How Jesse and David’s body ended up at Morgan’s ex- wife’s basement? Just like that happened, I knew shit was being put into place to cover our asses and get rid of everything.
“When should I hand in my resignation papers… no need to remain with Rich gone.”
Devon cleared his throat. “Actually, with Rich gone… I want to appoint you as District Attorney.”
Aimee started choking. “Bro’, what the fuck? Pri… the fuck.” Skyler reached over and patted her back as she continued to choke.
“Why?”
“Baby Doll, this shit is deeper than you think, and the goal is to keep the family protected. The Delgatos, Infernos, and Caselli’s will be fucking untouchable… A governor, special agent, and now a district attorney in our pockets.”
“And a federal judge,” Corleon added.
“Judge Tanner? I wouldn’t trust that man with a fucking snicker… he’s not to be trusted.”
“Nah. Kora Caselli is a federal judge… youngest one actually at thirty-four,” Core spoke, proud of his second family.
Forty smiled. “Wasn’t sure we were revealing that.”
“She’s my sister, she can know…. Menace, Zoya or Landon don’t speak about her because they keep her separate… Judge Case.”
“And when I run for president, I can promise you she’ll be Supreme Justice Case,” Devon replied.
We all turned to look at him. “President? Stop fucking with us… you think they letting you in after all these scandals.”
He smirked, revealing his perfectly white teeth. “Aimee, close your mouth,” Skyler whispered.
“When everything is put together… niggas gonna know that shit had nothing to do with me, and the light will be on me to announce my candidacy for presidency.”
I clapped. “Bravo… now, about this position?”
“Anything you want is yours, Capri,” Devon replied.
“I don’t want to be DA Browne. I know I can’t go under Inferno… so DA Fern.”
He extended his hand out to me. “Bet… we can make that happen.”
Corleon clapped his hands. “Good fucking shit, Capri! Congratulations… fucking proud of you.”
“Um, I’m able to remain your assistant, right? I like my job.” Skyler laughed.
“Yes, and that comes with higher pay for my assistant.”
Devon and Forty laughed, and it was the first time I realized they favored each other a bit, only when they were next to each other.
I understood this was a rare occurrence, and it probably wouldn’t ever happen again unless it needed to.
“We can talk about it.” Devon laughed.
“Judge McLauren was into some deep shit… these laptops that Capone swiped have enough to put everyone in Morgan’s pocket including him away.”
“We just need all his dick suckers put away…. I hear y’all have other plans for Morgan.”
“For sure.” I settled back into my seat. “Morgan is sending a car for me to come to Menace’s villa… everybody needs to remain on this jet until me and Goon are in that car, and pulling away.”
“Got you,” Aimee replied.
“If you all don’t mind… I am currently sleeping and eating for two, so if you need me I’ll be snoring.”
Goon pushed that red water bottle that had been the bane of my existence close to me. “Take a few sips for me, Lady Inferno… don’t need Meer on my neck.”
“Go ahead and drink the fuck up, Suga… see you soon, baby.” I heard my man’s voice on speaker and looked over at Yasin, who had the phone held up.
“See you soon, love you.”
“Drink more,” he demanded, and I reached across my chair and pressed the end button and slumped back down in my chair.
Devon and Forty pulled their laptops out while Skyler, Aimee, and Core were all on old laptops that Capone had handed off before we left. He, Cappadonna, and Capella were all flying out together behind us. I felt the jet rushing down the jetway, as I watched us lift up in the air.
Game time.
