Chapter Fifteen #2

Not that any of that mattered to Jamie. He had never seen anything like that before and likely didn’t care about what she wore under her sweater and jeans.

He kissed her with long, soft kisses. Impatience bubbled through her, but she sensed he wanted to take things slow. He wanted to savor her, to taste her, to bask in the glow of this one perfect moment.

“Jamie?”

“Shh, lass. I want to worship ye.”

Worship?

The blood rushed to her head, making her lightheaded. It was, quite possibly, the sweetest thing a man had ever said to her. She wasn’t sure how to feel. She wasn’t sure what to feel.

The heat pounded through her, pooling in her abdomen. Normally, when she was with someone new, there was a frenzy that rose to a fever pitch. The men she had been with did not take their time and they certainly did not want to worship her.

“But—” she started.

“Shhh. I’ve waited for ye my whole life.”

He kissed her again. He tasted like the weak ale and smelled like heather and woodsmoke. Her hand pressed against his chest. Below it was the frantic pounding of his heart, matching hers.

Ah, so he was as excited as she was. That was, at least, good to know.

His kisses moved from her mouth to her cheek, her earlobe, down her neck, and over her collarbone.

With a gentle nudge, he pushed her to her back.

She melted against the bed as he hovered over her, continuing to kiss her with those long, slow, drugging kisses.

Her eyes fluttered closed. She reached up, letting her fingers tangle in his long hair.

He hummed his response against her belly.

Down the expanse of her body he went until he was at the apex of her thighs. Her skin erupted in gooseflesh, that tingling sensation shuddering through her as she anticipated his next move.

And he did not disappoint.

She bit her lip to keep from crying out the moment his tongue flicked over her. His mouth did magical, wonderful things to her, making every worry, every fear, every thought flee from her mind.

It didn’t matter she was in the past.

It didn’t matter he was younger than her.

All that mattered was him and this perfect, intimate moment.

She sucked in a cold breath, a moan escaping her as her hands tangled in his hair. She released her inhibitions. She allowed him to please her in a way she had never allowed before. And it was so liberating.

After long, drugging moments, he kissed his way back up her body.

He paused to pay homage to the flat plane of her abdomen and then he worshipped her breasts.

Their lips met in a frenzy as his long, lean body moved on top of hers.

She opened herself and wrapped her legs around his waist. But he didn’t take her right away.

He kissed her, his long, lean body pressing against hers, warming her.

She had never experienced the likes. Her previous experiences had been nothing more than carnal acts.

This…this was something more. This felt like it meant something.

Finally, he slid inside her, taking his time with each thrust. Her hands tangled in his long locks as she clutched him to her, her muscles tightened around him. The climax was upon her before she was able to stop it. She was overcome. There was no holding back. His followed shortly thereafter.

And when it was all over, he stilled, peering down at her with a satisfied grin.

“I’m glad ye lied, lass.”

Brianna was unable to stop the giggle that erupted.

Afterward, they slept. At some point, Brianna awoke cocooned in warmth against Jamie. The fire had long since died in the hearth, leaving the room chilled. It made her burrow deeper under the blankets, soaking up his warmth with her hand on his chest as it rose and fell with his rhythmic breathing.

He still slept which gave her time to think.

She allowed herself to be swept off her feet and succumb to his charms. She should have had more restraint but his kisses had drugged her senseless and made her fall for him hard and fast. She understood the first stirrings deep in her gut but refused to accept this was anything more than infatuation.

Certainly, it was not love.

She hadn’t been in love in years. She had carefully built walls around her heart after her failed marriage to keep those feelings out.

Instead, she’d found emotionally unavailable men with commitment phobias and allowed herself to be used until they were ready to move on.

It suited her nomadic lifestyle as she’d traveled across the Caribbean.

What was her lifestyle now? It had crossed her mind she needed to find a way to return to her time, to her home.

But then she didn’t have a home to go back to, did she?

Her childhood home sold years ago after the death of her parents.

She had split the money with Evie and Chloe and then they’d gone their separate ways.

Now, here she was, stuck in the past prophesied as the one to “fix” the timeline. To make matters more complicated was Jamie. A medieval man who managed to rock her world and shatter all her resistance. A man who gave her adoring looks. A man who wanted to care for all her needs.

Those walls she had carefully constructed were beginning to crumble, the first few stones cracking and falling.

How could she have allowed this to happen? She hardly knew Jamie.

And yet, there was a part of her that sensed she had known him all her life. A part of her that found comfort in his arms. A part of her that wanted him forever in her life.

Next to her, he stirred. Her gaze traveled over his strong jaw to his face as his eyes blinked open. When he looked at her, a lazy, sexy smile tugged at his lips, showing off his two deep dimples.

“Yer still here.” Under the covers, he reached for her, his hand sliding over her hip. “And yer still naked.”

She flushed, hot. Why did him saying that to her make heat pound through her?

“So are you,” she replied, her bandaged palm flattening on his chest.

The warmth of his body still brushed hers. He groaned his appreciation as he turned to her under the blankets, his arms sliding around her and pulling her close.

“What will we do about it, lass?”

She was powerless to resist. Her response was to plant long, slow kisses at the base of his throat, which he clearly appreciated. His arms tightened around her, his arousal evident between them.

“I have a few ideas,” she murmured against his neck.

And just like that, she lost her head again.
