JACKSON
K elley didn’t seem too eager to want to plan a wedding. She didn’t even want to go shopping for a dress. It was my idea to hop on a plane to Vegas. I figured we could have some fun.
When she saw the Elvis look alike marriage officiant, she looked up at me, her eyes wide and brown.
And so, here we are. Waiting to be married by Elvis. I can't help but laugh as I look around the tiny chapel, its neon lights flickering in that quintessential Vegas way.
Kelley stands beside me, her hand in mine, both of us barely able to contain our excitement. We've been through so much together, and now, here we are, about to get married by an Elvis look-alike. It's perfect in its own wild, unforgettable way.
Kelley glances at me, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of amusement and love. "Can you believe we're actually doing this?" she asks, the grin on her face infectious.
"I wouldn't have it any other way," I reply, squeezing her hand. "This is so us."
The Elvis impersonator, dressed in a white jumpsuit adorned with rhinestones, struts down the aisle, guitar in hand. He gives us a nod and a wink, and I can’t help but chuckle. This is going to be one for the books.
"All right, folks, are you ready to get hitched Vegas style?" Elvis asks, his voice a perfect imitation of the King.
Kelley and I nod eagerly, and the ceremony begins. It’s a whirlwind of laughter and joy, the surreal atmosphere amplifying the love we feel for each other.
As Elvis croons "Love Me Tender," I look into Kelley's eyes, feeling the weight of this moment. This isn't just a fun, impulsive decision; it's a commitment to the woman I love with all my heart.
When it’s time for the vows, I take a deep breath, trying to steady my voice. "Kelley, from the moment I met you, my life has been an incredible adventure. You’re my partner in crime, my best friend, and the love of my life. I promise to stand by you, to support you, and to love you for all the days of our lives."
Kelley's eyes well up with tears, and she smiles through them. "Jackson, you’ve been my rock, my confidant, and my greatest cheerleader. I promise to love you fiercely, to laugh with you, and to face whatever comes our way together."
Elvis wipes a mock tear from his eye. "Beautiful, just beautiful. By the power vested in me by the state of Nevada and the spirit of the King, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."
I don't need any more encouragement. I pull Kelley into my arms and kiss her deeply, the cheers of our small audience ringing in our ears. As we pull away, the reality of what we've just done sinks in, and I feel a surge of happiness like never before.
The only other witness in the room, a kindly older woman who works at the chapel, claps softly. It’s just the four of us—Kelley, me, Elvis, and the witness—but it feels like the whole world is celebrating with us.
Elvis hands us a certificate, his grin wide. "Congratulations, you two. May your life be filled with love, laughter, and maybe a little bit of rock ‘n’ roll."
"Thank you," Kelley says, her voice choked with emotion. "This has been amazing."
We step out of the chapel into the bright lights and bustling energy of the Vegas strip. The night air is cool against my skin, a stark contrast to the warmth in my heart. I look at Kelley, her eyes shining with joy and excitement.
"What now, Mrs. Jackson?" I ask, loving the way her new name sounds.
She laughs, a sound that I know I'll never get tired of hearing. "How about we start our honeymoon right here? I hear there’s plenty to do in Vegas."
I grin, pulling her close. "Sounds like a plan."
We walk hand in hand down the strip, the city’s lights reflecting in our eyes. Every step feels like a new beginning, a promise of the future we’re going to build together. The world is full of possibilities, and with Kelley by my side, I know we can face anything.
As we pass by the dazzling casinos and bustling crowds, I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. This is the start of our forever, and I couldn’t be happier.
Our first stop after leaving the chapel is a classic Vegas landmark: the Bellagio Fountains. Kelley and I stand hand in hand, watching the water dance to the music. The lights reflect in her eyes, and I can't help but feel like the luckiest guy in the world.
The show is mesmerizing, and as the final notes of "Viva Las Vegas" play, we share another kiss, the excitement of our impromptu wedding still buzzing through us.
"Ready for the next adventure?" I ask, feeling a surge of anticipation.
"Absolutely," Kelley replies, her smile infectious.
We head to the High Roller, the massive observation wheel on the Strip. As we ascend, the view of the city sprawls out beneath us, a sea of lights and energy. In our private cabin, we toast with champagne, clinking our glasses together.
"To us," I say, gazing into her eyes.
"To us," she echoes, her voice filled with love.
From the top, Vegas looks like a glittering dream, each light a promise of something new and exciting. We take in the view, wrapped in each other's arms, the city our playground for the night.
Next, we make our way to one of the legendary casinos. The energy inside is electric, the sound of slot machines and the cheers of winners creating a symphony of luck and chance.
Kelley and I decide to try our hand at the roulette table. We bet on black, and when the ball lands in the right slot, we cheer like we've just won another million dollars.
"Maybe we should quit while we're ahead," Kelley laughs, her eyes sparkling with mischief.
"Or maybe our luck is just getting started," I reply, feeling invincible with her by my side.
We stroll down the Strip, stopping to take pictures with street performers and marveling at the extravagant displays in the shop windows. The city feels alive, a constant pulse of excitement and possibility.
Hunger eventually leads us to one of the many renowned buffets. We pile our plates high with an array of delicacies, from sushi to prime rib to decadent desserts.
As we eat, we talk about our plans for the future, dreaming about the custom bike shop we want to open and the travels we'll embark on together.
"Here's to making all our dreams come true," Kelley says, raising her fork in a mock toast.
"Together," I add, clinking my fork against hers.
Feeling adventurous, we decide to catch a late-night show. The Cirque du Soleil performance is breathtaking, the acrobatics and artistry leaving us in awe. We hold hands tightly throughout, sharing amazed glances and whispered comments.
After the show, we wander into a jazz club, the smooth melodies providing a perfect backdrop for our continued celebration. We dance slowly, the world fading away as we lose ourselves in the music and each other.
As the night winds down, we find ourselves back on the Strip, the city still buzzing with life. We ride the roller coaster at New York-New York, the adrenaline rush a fitting end to our exhilarating day. With windblown hair and exhilarated smiles, we finally head back to our hotel.
In our suite, we kick off our shoes and collapse onto the bed, exhausted but blissfully happy. Kelley snuggles into my arms, and I hold her close, feeling the steady beat of her heart against mine.
With a million-dollar win and a spontaneous Vegas wedding behind us, the sky's the limit. And I can’t wait to see where our next adventure takes us.
