Josh

As I’m about to pass the puck to Michaelson, the familiar feeling I get when my girl enters a room washes over me. It’s an all consuming feeling. There are no other words to describe it apart from electric. It’s like the buzzing in the air before a game but we’re the only ones who feel it.

I keep my head in the game. As much as I want to look up and see if my instincts are correct, I can't. Not with Coach paying such close attention.

As the play ends, Coach calls us all over for a team talk. We have an away game this weekend and we’ve been playing like shit lately. We seriously need to get our acts together if we want to make it to the Stanley Cup.

The team breaks apart, but Coach holds me back. “Nice to see that your head is back in the game, Woods.”

“Yes, sir.”

“I know shit can get hard in our personal lives but in this building, when you're on the ice, I expect the game to be the only thing in your head.” Nodding, I agree with him. “You're a great player and a great captain. I wouldn't want any of these other clowns leading this team.”

“Thank you, Coach. That means a lot.” It’s taking everything in me to keep my attention on the man in front of me when I'd rather be looking at my girl.

“No more fuck ups. No more shit. You got it?”

“Yes, sir.”

“Good. I'm expecting a big win this weekend. Think you can deliver?”

God, I hope so. “Yes, sir.”

With that, the conversation ends and I find my feet gliding across the ice to where Olivia and her friend are getting an earful from Matthews.

“Matthews, you need to stop harassing these poor women. You're gonna scare Olivia off before she even starts this job.”

“Don’t worry, Cap. My attention is no longer on this girl over here. No offense, Olliepop.” He winks in the direction of the other woman standing beside Olivia.

Olliepop? When the fuck did that happen? I give her a questioning look but she just shrugs in response.

“Go. Now.” I reply to him, ignoring his other comment. “Coach wants to speak to you.”

“What? Why?”

“Just go, Conor.”

“Ugh, fine.” He skates off in the direction of the other players leaving me alone with my girl.

“Olivia.” I nod in her direction.

“Captain.” She greets, a smirk firmly planted on her face. God damn this beautiful woman. “This is my friend, Sasha.”

“Nice to meet you, I'm Josh.” I stick my now ungloved hand toward her and she takes it.

“It’s great to finally meet you, Josh. I've heard all about your… stick work.” She winks. “You know, on the ice.”

“Jesus Christ, Sash.” Olivia cringes, cheeks a tint of red. “Sorry, I had to tell her. She knows when I'm lying.”

“It’s okay,” I say, laughing. “If you trust her, then I do too.”

“Thank you.”

“Hey Sasha, you don't mind if I steal my girl for a minute do you?”

“Your girl, huh? Just so you know big boy, she was my girl first. Hurt her in any way and I will personally see to it that you rot six feet under.” How anyone can say something like that, smiling so innocently, I will never know.

“Don’t worry, I'll take good care of her.” I smile back.

“Yeah, you fucking better.” She murmurs as she stalks off, ogling at my teammates.

“I'm sorry about her. She can be a lot sometimes.”

“Don’t worry about it. I'm just glad you’re here.”

This girl's smile would light up the dark. My whole body warms at the sight of it.

I inch closer to her and her breathing picks up. “Baby, I want nothing more than to kiss you right now.”

She bites her bottom lip, hard enough to hurt. I want to reach out and touch her but there's too many people around.

“Come to my place tonight.” I tell her. “We can order food in, watch a movie, make out.” I wink.

She leans in close. “Would it drive you crazy if you knew how wet I was right now?”

Fuck. Me.

“Baby, if you felt how hard I'm getting just from you saying that, you'd know how crazy you make me.” I can't help it, I lean in close. So does she. The heat in her gaze, her plump lips asking to be kissed, it's like I'm in a trance and I can't help myself.

We’re so fucking close now I cant stop myself-

“Cap!” A loud voice booms from behind me.

Me and Olivia pull apart as fast as possible. Holy shit that was too close.

Michaelson comes up to my side. “Hey, Olivia. Nice to finally meet you. I'm Daniel.”

“Hi, Daniel.” She replies, shyly, her cheeks a gorgeous shade of pink.

“Come on, Cap. We’ve got shit to do here.” At that, he skates off towards the others.

“I’ll call you when I'm done?”

“Sounds good.”

Skating back to my teammates, Michaelson stops me.

“You’re one stupid bastard, do you know that?

You’re fucking lucky everyone else here was watching Matthews dance around like a dick or they would have seen that.

And you’re more fucking lucky that it was me who came up to you and not someone else. ”

“I know, man. I don't even know what came over me.” I hang my head. “Thank you.”

“Don’t thank me. Just don’t be so fucking stupid next time.”

With that, we get back to ice time.
