Bronagh
My stomach was filled with butterflies as I ate the protein bar and drank the large tumbler of water Cathal brought me.
He’d done the same for himself. I was worried about what was happening between Dad and Darragh.
And what would happen if Dad got past him to me?
Would I be able to convince my dad not to take on the O’Sheerans to get me out of here?
I should’ve kept my mouth shut about the incident the other night.
I’d had time to think, and with what Cathal said and did today, doubt about leaving had wiggled in. No matter how upset and hurt I was by Cathal’s omission and what I believed were his lies, I detested the idea of leaving and never seeing him again, other than on television or in a magazine.
I never expected to see Cathal O’Sheeran on his knees for me. Or making an oath on the lives of his family. I knew how sacred they were to him. He wouldn’t haphazardly make such a vow unless he meant it, right?
I finished the bar. “Thank you. I need to go to the bathroom before Dad gets here,” I told him.
Cathal rose from his spot on the side of the bed. He held out his hand. I took it. However, when my feet touched the floor, he wrapped his arm around me. My body warmed.
“I can walk there by myself,” I insisted.
“I’m not taking any chances. Come on, I’ve got you. It’s my chance to show off how strong I am,” he smirked.
His silliness made me laugh. It didn’t take me long to handle my business. I tried to tidy up my hair with a brush. My face needed makeup, but I didn’t have the time or energy to do it. Sighing, I opened the door and allowed Cathal to walk me back to the bedroom.
“I’d rather talk to Dad sitting up. Let’s sit in the sitting area. Or we could go to the living room,” I suggested.
“Let’s do the sitting room in the bedroom. That way, if you get tired, you can lie down.”
“Okay, we’ll do that,” I agreed.
As soon as I sat down, Cathal went to the bed and made it, leaving the duvet and top sheets turned down perfectly on each side.
“Wow, wouldn’t people love to know that Cathal O’Sheeran makes his own bed? And let’s not forget laundry, cooking, and more,” I teased.
He chuckled. “Shh, don’t tell my secrets.”
He made me laugh more by listing other normal things he did. The best was when he said one of them was that he even wiped his own ass. I was almost in tears over that one. Then, his phone buzzed. I stopped laughing. He looked at it, then at me.
“He’s coming.”
I gulped.
