Bronagh #3
“Yes, I can. You should’ve read the agreement you signed. It states clearly that any disrespect or harm, potential or actual, to a member of the O’Sheeran family will result in immediate revocation of your membership and place a lifelong ban on your entry to any Wicked Desires location.”
“I didn’t disrespect or harm you, Cathal,” she sobbed.
She tried to approach him, but Troi stepped between her and us.
“No, you disrespected and tried to harm Bronagh emotionally. She’s my fiancée, and in three days, she’ll be my wife.”
“Noooo!” She screamed.
Briar tried to get past Troi. She begged Cathal not to. When that failed, she called me names and said I’d pay for taking him away. Cathal pretended she no longer existed. He took out his phone and placed a call.
“I need you to bring two security people to my office. A former patron needs to be shown out. And Jaleel, she’s banned for life.”
I couldn’t hear what Jaleel said, but the way Cathal nodded and then said he’d see him soon, I knew there had been no pushback. Briar was on her knees, screaming and sobbing. She kept trying to get past Troi, but he kept her away.
“Leanbh, I’m sorry you have to listen to this. As soon as Jaleel comes, we’ll leave. I don’t want to leave Troi alone with her,” Cathal explained.
“Don’t think I can handle her, Cathal?” Troi asked, sounding amused.
“No, I know you can, but you may be tempted to strangle her to shut her caterwauling up. I can’t go home and tell the family how I lost you. They seem to like you for some damn reason,” my fiancé grumbled.
I laughed. “I like you, too,” I told his guard. Troi preened.
“Bronagh, don’t encourage him. He’s already too conceited,” Cathal mock-chastised me.
He and I were still playfully debating when the door opened, and three men walked in.
All three looked more than capable of handling her.
They had the physiques of very fit men. Two went over to a flailing Briar.
Yes, she was actually kicking her feet and throwing her arms like a two-year-old having a tantrum.
The other man walked up to Cathal. His expression turned distasteful when he saw Briar.
Then, his eyes widened when they landed on me.
“Boss, I see what you mean. She’ll be gone in five minutes.
And this has to be your Bronagh. It’s a pleasure and a surprise to meet you.
Cathal told me earlier today that he was bringing someone special.
When he told me it was his future wife, I admit, he shocked me.
However, as always, he’s a lucky bastard.
I’m Jaleel, his general manager.” Jaleel held out his hand to me as he grinned at his boss.
I shook it, saying, “Hello Jaleel, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“Don’t smile at him. He’s as bad as Troi,” Cathal muttered.
Jaleel laughed.
The two security guards carrying Briar stopped next to us. Jaleel scanned her, then said, “I believe this calls for the police. She’s out of control, and I believe she’s unable to seek the treatment she needs.”
“Baker Act sounds like a good idea,” Cathal stated.
“I hate to run, but let me go take care of this. Again, it’s an honor to meet you, Bronagh. Hopefully, the next time you come, we’ll get a chance to talk…without Cathal.” Jaleel’s grin was huge as he hurried out of the room, trailing his two security personnel carrying Briar.
“What will the other poor patrons think when they see her like that? And what’s the Baker Act?” I asked.
“They won’t see her. They’ll take her out through the garage entrance to where I said we’d usually park.
The Baker Act gives criteria and guidelines for when a person is experiencing a mental health crisis, can be temporarily detained, and made to undergo an involuntary psych examination.
Police officers, doctors, judges, psychiatric nurses, clinical psychologists, and mental health counselors can make that determination, which is why Jaleel is calling the police. ”
“I wasn’t aware of that law. Wow. Well, I hope they can help her. Does she do this often?”
“I’ve never seen her act like this. Sure, she always was somewhat insistent on being with me when I was here.
But I’ve never known her to go off the deep end.
Believe me, if she had, she wouldn’t have been here tonight, nor would I have ever played with her again.
I’m so damn sorry you had to be exposed to her. ”
“You just said she’s never acted this way to your knowledge, and if she had done it here, I have to think it would’ve been brought to your attention. Don’t apologize. Now, do you want to get back to our tour? You still have two levels to show me.”
Cathal appeared surprised. “You want to stay?”
“Of course, unless you want to leave.”
“No, I’d like to finish showing you around. Troi, we’ll be up on this floor and the sixth. You don’t need to tag along. And let Dario and Cashel know to stay on this floor with you when we go to the sixth.”
“Got it, Cathal.”
“Alright, let me finish showing you my office,” was where my man started to bring things back to normal.
