Bronagh Chapter 21 #2
“Oh, you want to play stupid? Innocent? Okay, here goes. I’m here to catch my no-good, piece-of-shit new husband cheating on me in his fuck palace.
I knew it. I knew you were here for more than work.
Well, no need to stop your fun. Call them all up.
You can have an orgy to celebrate the end of your marriage.
I guess I was right. You can’t be with just one woman.
Now move. I’m leaving.” I struck out at him again with my foot.
He caught it. I tried to jerk it free and roll across the sofa at the same time.
I couldn’t, so I raised the other leg to kick him.
Cathal caught it, too. Then, in a flash, I found myself lengthwise on the sofa with him on top of me.
He had his lower body between my legs. His hands grabbed my wrists and pinned them over my head.
I tried to head butt him and snapped my teeth at him.
His face was pale, and I saw what seemed like astonishment.
I tried to shut him out without closing my eyes.
“Bronagh, how in the hell can you say those things? Why would you believe them? I’m not here cheating on you. I would never do that.”
I laughed, but it wasn’t humorous. It was harsh. “I don’t believe you. What is it? Did you already fuck her and she left, or are you waiting for her?”
“I’m not waiting for anyone! I didn’t fuck anyone! Why would you say that?” he shouted.
“So you routinely go to work in dress clothes, then change into nothing but lounge pants and have wet hair in your sex pad? I don’t think so. I knew it.”
“Stop saying that! You don’t know anything. I haven’t touched anyone, and no one is scheduled to be here. I can explain my appearance. But first, I want to know why you’re here. Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?”
“I didn’t tell you because I had to see for myself.
I had to know. And you know what, I don’t want to hear any excuses or lies.
I won’t stay with a man I can’t trust and who cheats on me.
If you didn’t tonight, it’s only a matter of time until you do.
Let me go. I’m leaving. I should’ve known it was too good to last.”
My voice caught on the last word. I swallowed the sob that wanted to come out. I blinked my eyes to keep my tears from forming. Cathal lowered his head. I moved mine to the side so he couldn’t kiss me. His face nuzzled into my cheek, and then he kissed my ear.
“Leanbh, please look at me. Let me explain. It’s not what you think. I’m not cheating. I won’t. I love you. You’re the only woman I want,” he whispered so achingly.
I wanted to believe him, but I couldn’t. I tried to buck his body off mine since my wrists were still being held over my head. He countered my move by thrusting his hips between mine. I gasped as I felt his cock, growing hard.
“Get off me! I’m not letting you fuck me. God, I need to get checked. Have you been having little rendezvous all week while I thought you were hard at work here?” I snapped.
Cathal let out a deep, rumbling growl, one I’d never heard him make.
Abruptly, he sat up, but I didn’t have time to do anything.
He yanked on my wrists, pulling me up, then his other hand latched onto my waist. I was dragged to him, then over his lap.
I sprawled there, on my stomach with half of my upper body hanging over his thighs and the lower half hanging over onto the floor.
Before I could right myself, his hand came down on my ass.
It wasn’t one of the slaps he made when we had sex. This one was twice as hard and sent a painful jolt through me. I yelped, but he kept spanking me, and the way he had me pinned with his other arm, I couldn’t get free, no matter how I squirmed.
“Cathal, stop! Oww, stop hitting me!” I shouted.
“I’m spanking you, not hitting you. And I’m not stopping until you quit acting like a child and settle down so we can talk. If you act like a spoiled child, then you’ll be spanked like one,” he snapped.
I didn’t do as he said. He kept spanking me until my ass burned and tears ran down my face. Eventually, I gave up and lay there. Cathal stopped.
“Now that you’ve calmed down, we’re going to discuss what has gotten into you. Here, sit up,” he said, only slightly gruffly.
But the moment I sat up, and he saw the tears, his expression shifted from surprise to alarm. He tried to touch my cheek, but I jerked away from him. My ass throbbed.
“Bronagh, oh fuck, leanbh, I didn’t mean to make you cry. Does it hurt that much? Here, let me see.” He attempted to pull me to him. I scooted further away.
“Don’t touch me. I swear to God if you touch me again, I’ll call the cops,” I told him, yanking my cell phone out of my purse.
It had fallen to the floor next to the sofa when he first set me down. I held it up like it was a shield. I wished I hadn’t left the handgun at home. At this moment, I think I could shoot him.
“Okay, okay, there’s no need for you to do that. Just talk to me. I’m sorry. I lost control. I never meant to hurt you with the spanking. I only wanted it to make you settle so we could talk. I’m not losing my wife over a misunderstanding. We can figure this out,” he rambled.
“I’m calling Presley to be out front. I’m leaving. Don’t come after me.” I demanded as I stood.
I thought he might stand up, but he shocked me. Cathal slid off the sofa onto the floor on his knees. He put his hands together in classic prayer pose and begged.
“For the love of all that is holy, please, please don’t walk away from me.
I’ll do anything you want. If you want to whip me, I’ll get the flogger for you.
If that’s not harsh enough, I’ll have a whip sent up.
I never meant for it to hurt… alright, I did mean for it to hurt a little, but not enough to make you cry.
Not enough to cause true pain or damage.
Let me see how bad it is. I have something to make it better.
Then, I need you to tell me why you came here convinced I was cheating on you, which I most certainly am not. ”
“I don’t need you to check anything on my body.
And I came here because of the way you’ve been acting.
Our marriage lasted less than a week before you changed.
Do you think I wouldn’t notice that you’re no longer into what we’ve been doing in bed?
Or the fact that you went from being unable to go a single night without having me at least twice to skipping nights.
All you had to do was be a man and tell me you made a mistake.
“I get it. The danger is over. There’s no need for you to be married to me.
With the Methots gone and their organization being dismantled, there’s no one after the Bragan territory.
There’s no reason for one of the O’Sheerans to sacrifice themselves by marrying me.
I’m an adult. You should’ve told me,” I choked on the last word.
I swallowed the sob, but it refused to go down.
It slipped out. I clamped my mouth closed and stepped back.
I had to get out of here before I lost it.
I rushed to the door. But when I put my finger on the panel, it wouldn’t unlock.
I tried it three times before I whirled around to face him.
Cathal was on his feet, standing ten feet away.
“Undo whatever you did to the lock, Cathal,” I croaked.
“I can’t. I’m sorry mo ghrá amháin, but I can’t. Not until after you let me explain. Not until I know my wife won’t leave me,” he said hoarsely.
“Don’t call me that. I’m not your only love. You don’t love me. If you did, you wouldn’t—”
“I do love you! I love you so much that the thought of you thinking I’d cheat on you or of you leaving me feels like I’m bleeding to death inside. I can’t let you walk away. If you do, I won’t be able to stand it. I’ll have to end it. Permanently.”
His tone made me freeze. That’s when I saw the tears in his eyes. He was shaking. His fists were clenched at his sides. His breathing was ragged.
“What do you mean you’ll end it permanently?” I whispered.
“I mean that if you divorce me, I’ll have nothing to live for. And if I have nothing to live for, then there’s no reason to remain in this world.”
“Cathal, don’t talk like that. You were the one who told me nothing was worth doing that.” I reminded him.
“I did, but it was before I fell in love with you. Before I knew what my life would be like without you. I can’t face that, Bronagh. So, if you truly want out of this marriage and you hate me that much, ask me again to unlock the door and let you go.”
I heard the finality in his voice. My mind whirled with all the implications. I stood there a good two minutes, in absolute silence, before I made my decision.
“Alright, you want to talk, we’ll talk. But I’m not making any promises of what it’ll mean when you’re done. That’s all I can do.”
“I’ll take it. Let’s go sit where we can be comfortable,” he said, backing away, then turning to return to the living room. I slowly followed him.
