20. Whirlwind #2
When I bent down, I instinctively rested my hand on what looked like a freshly moisturized chest and inhaled his intoxicating scent.
He smelled like cocoa butter and a sea breeze.
Cairo reached for my hands and held them in his own before kissing my wrists.
That gesture had me tearing up as I looked at his bandaged and elevated right knee, hiked up on a mountain of firm pillows.
“Hey, Zora.” His voice drew me to his face and lips again.
In his eyes, I saw the silent assurance he always gave me. Even in his pain, he cared about my well-being.
Despite my best efforts, I couldn’t speak. Cairo reached for my arm and pulled me closer to him. He scooted his body over on his California king bed and patted the spot to his left.
“Come here.”
I shook my head.
“You know how I feel about outside clothes on beds. I’m not climbing in there.”
“Then take off your clothes.”
My eyes widened as someone coughed on the other side of the room. For the first time, I noticed a young, clean-cut man in scrubs standing near a metal tray of medicine and equipment, fiddling with bottles of tablets. Cairo’s eyes follow mine.
“That’s my nurse practitioner, Mark.”
I waved my hand, embarrassed that a stranger had witnessed our banter.
“I have everything set up here. I’ll leave y’all.” Mark’s kind southern drawl comforted me as the reality of Cairo’s incapacitation sank in.
“Thank you,” Cairo and I said in unison.
Once Mark left, I returned my attention to Cairo.
“I’d love to join you in bed. Let me find a T-shirt and the leggings I left over here last week. We have a lot of talking to do.” I kissed Cairo’s luscious lips for real this time, inserting my tongue for good measure. He matched my energy and groaned.
“You know this knee has nothing to do with me being able to satisfy you. Lock the door, pull these shorts down, and ride me before anyone comes back.” With hooded eyes, Cairo spoke his directives like a general in a sex army.
His request made no practical sense under the circumstances, but I missed him so much, I was willing to fly to the moon if he asked. I stepped backward to the door and locked it as he instructed.
“That’s probably the drugs talking, but okay.”
He opened his mouth and gawked as I kicked off my sandals and unbuttoned my asymmetrical A-line dress along with my bra and underwear. I removed the clips from my hair and brushed it over my shoulders with my fingers. When I was naked, Cairo bit his lip.
“I swear you are the sexiest woman on the planet. Thank you for being here.”
“It is my pleasure to serve you. I’m just happy you’re okay. I don’t know what I would have done if something had happened to you.”
I placed my knees on the side of the bed and reached for the elastic waist of Cairo’s shorts.
He lifted his sexy hips slowly as I carefully pulled his shorts down.
He winced slightly as he lifted his good knee but nodded, signaling for me to continue with my actions.
When I reached for his manhood and stroked it to life, his breath caught.
“Oh…that’s my nasty girl.”
As I stroked him, I leaned over and spoke softly.
“I need to clear the air. We may have our differences, but neither of us is perfect.”
Cairo bit his bottom lip and thrust his hips slowly to match the rhythm of my strokes.
“Geoff was a lot of things, but he pounded me good before you came along. Real good. He had my kitty so wet at times, I thought she was a faucet. I can’t deny that.”
Call me petty, but I needed Cairo to know he wasn’t the only one being serviced before we got together. When I added more pressure to my caress, he winced. I continued, “You had your history, and I had mine.”
A quick flash of anger crossed his eyes as he reached for my nipples and pinched them hard.
“That’s how you’re going to treat a crippled man, Zora? Telling me how a jerk got you off?”
As he held on to my nubs, I climbed on top of him and straddled him, rubbing my now wet vagina against his girth.
“I had needs. And stop calling yourself crippled. That knee may have you out of commission temporarily, but there’s nothing weak about you. I’m not going to let you play the victim right now. Why didn’t you respond to my texts and calls?” I increased my rhythm as Cairo moved one hand to my throat.
As he squeezed it slightly, I felt a war of wills erupting. In all our time together, we never had angry sex. When I came over today, I didn’t expect this. I lifted my body and eased myself on his erection as he hissed several expletives.
“I was kind of busy—getting injured and all.” He released his grip on my body and held my waist as I slowly rode him.
“Hmm…everyone called me but you. I needed to hear from you.” I increased my speed as Cairo rocked into me.
As small beads of sweat popped off his head, I looked behind me at his knee.
“Please tell me if I’m hurting you. This probably isn’t a good idea.” I lifted my body to move off him, but he held me in place as he thrust into me.
Within seconds, I resumed my rhythm. He smacked, then grabbed my butt with his hand. The sound cracked through the air.
“Don’t you dare stop.” He quickened his pace and had me whimpering with each thrust.
I matched him stroke for stroke. Within minutes, both of us erupted. I screamed, not caring who heard me as I collapsed on top of his now sweaty body. When I gathered myself, I rolled over, stared at the ceiling, and calmed my breathing.
“Are we toxic?” I turned my head and kissed his lips, angling my body so he wouldn’t have to bend his body toward me.
Cairo shook his head as he caught his breath.
“No, we’re human. That’s the key. We must allow ourselves to be real. No more masks for either of us.”
“You’re right.”
“And I’m sorry about Sophie. I should have shared more of my history with you. Please forgive me.”
“I already have. What matters is getting you well and us growing together.” I plopped back on the pillows and sighed, intertwining my fingers in his tightly.
Cairo and I stared at each other in silence until we dozed off.
