Chapter 1 Blind Date Disaster

We stared at each other, wide-eyed.

The man I was supposed to meet looked stunned.

“You two… know each other?”

Sheng Yi and I locked eyes.

“No.”

“Yes.”

The man I was supposed to meet laughed at our messed-up sync.

He stood, politely shook Sheng Yi’s hand.

“Since you two already know each other, I won’t interfere.”

“Wait—”

I started to stand, but Sheng Yi pushed me back into my seat.

His gaze was cold; he loomed over me.

“Jiang Si, you’ve been real hard to find!”

I swallowed the half piece of Braised Pork in my mouth and looked up at him hopefully.

“Um… can I keep eating? I’m not full yet.”

“Heh!”

Sheng Yi let go as if deflating and sat across from me.

Well then, don’t mind if I do.

I transferred the meal money to the man I was supposed to meet on my phone, then picked up my chopsticks and cleared the rest of the Braised Pork from the plate.

“Are you full now?”

“Burp~” I let out a satisfied hiccup and patted my round belly. “Yup, full.”

“Good.”

“Then… bye!”

I grabbed my bag and bolted.

I even pushed the serving cart into the aisle to block him.

I hadn’t gone far when his furious shout echoed behind me.

“Jiang Si, you liar! Thief! Give me back what’s mine!!!”

Every head in the restaurant turned toward me.

I ran even faster.

Legs, move! If I didn’t run now, I’d never get away.

I dashed out of the restaurant and sprinted two more blocks.

Only then did I stop, clutching my stomach.

Bad idea.

Running right after stuffing myself—my stomach hurt.

How did I even run into him here?

Turns out seeing an ex again isn’t just in movies.

Art really does come from life.

I glanced back toward the restaurant and pressed my lips together.

Tears spilled over.

“Sheng Yi, I’m sorry!”
