Chapter 1 Celest #3

She then zipped up the back of my dress, and quickly curled my hair and pinned it on my head incorporating the tiara by slowly inserting it into the curls.

The perfect example of a princess, I thought to myself.

Damn I am beautiful, which is something I normally never felt about myself.

“Do you like the gown princess?” Agnes asked as she finished up my makeup.

“I found this one just for you. Your parents haven’t seen it yet and I am sure they aren’t expecting something so glamorous, but I did not want you to go without on such a special day.”

I spun around to look at her, “You got me this dress Agnes? I absolutely love it!”

Agnes opened her mouth to continue, but voices in the hall stopped us.

“Where is she? She is going to be late!” a woman’s voice said.

“The Queen will not be pleased,” I looked at Agnes and nodded.

I sighed. It was time for me to go down to the party.

My parents had planned a grand entrance, and it was time.

I stood at the top of the stairs, and a spotlight pointed at me as the music died down.

“Now we welcome the birthday girl, Princess Celest,” announced the DJ.

The crowd began to clap, and I heard many people whisper that I looked beautiful.

I truly did feel like a princess in the moment.

I made my way down the stairs sliding my hand down the banister softly to my father’s outstretched hand.

He stands 6 feet tall and is a broad muscular man.

His eyes are black but in the right light they shine a blood red.

His hair is black which he slicks back every day.

He has a very square face shape and his lips are thin, while his nose is wider than it should be for his face.

He is wearing a navy blue suit and blue tie, so he must have had a business meeting recently.

Marcella hates when he shows up in work clothes so she will be cross with him but will get over it since he is here.

I hoped that one day he would love me and be proud of me.

He walked me around and introduced me to a few people I didn’t know, and then the music started back up and people began to dance.

I knew the routine. I had to dance with a few important people to make sure our relations stayed positive.

When the guests spoke with me I was to give as little information as possible, never speaking too much, I know Marcella is watching.

I almost jumped for joy when the DJ announced dinner.

I thanked the man I was dancing with and then made my way over to the head seat, the seat of honor for the evening.

The food I had prepared was served to everyone buffet style.

I was glad it was time to eat; I hadn’t eaten all day.

When they brought out the food, I swear I started drooling.

I grabbed my plate and walked to the buffet station.

Seeing as it was my birthday I got to serve myself first, then I made my way back to my chair.

The food was delicious, roasted chicken with mushroom sauce, mashed potatoes with gravy, and green beans that were cooked in bacon and tomatoes.

As I ate, I noticed weird glances in my direction.

People were whispering in each other’s ears, and I could make out only a few words, “brat, troublemaker, and liar.”

Every time something bad happened in the house, I was the one my family blamed.

My brother went on a joy ride and crashed into a tree; no, it was Celest.

A broken upstairs window, of course it was Celest.

Money gone missing, always my fault. I was used to it.

I rolled my eyes then looked down and sighed.

After about an hour everyone was done eating, so I made my thank you speech and danced with a few more people of importance.

It was 9:45pm and all of the guests besides my family's close friends and other close family members had left, and I was exhausted.

I knew I would have to wake up early to cook breakfast before leaving for school and I was ready to make my exit.

My brother still hadn’t told me the news my parents were talking about, and I really didn’t care.

I was just ready to go to bed and start my new life.

Fate had a different plan for me though, and from the corner of my eye I saw my brother walking over to the DJ stand where he grabbed a microphone.

“Hey, Celest, we have a special announcement for you.”

I turned to look at him, and he had a look of pure disgust on his face, followed by an evil smirk.

I froze, oh no, this couldn’t be happening.

“Today my baby sister turned 18. As you all know she has been nothing but trouble to this family and we think she has been here long enough, don’t you all agree?”

There were whispers of approval, or shock circling the room, but my parents were just smiling and nodding with approval.

“You are a disgusting waste of time Celest. You have no positive qualities, you will never be one of us. Now since you’re 18 you can get out. Take what you can carry and get out. You need not think of college,” he stated cruelly, “we canceled all your tuition payments.”

Zion finished talking and smiled at me. Tears started running down my face, I looked to my father and he was smirking, why were they doing this?

Why was no one going to stop this from happening?

“Oh, and Celest, you have ten minutes to get out.”
