Chaos Chapter 15
“What I’m about to tell you can’t leave this room. If it were known, it would destroy the club.”
“Go ahead, I won’t say anything unless you’re dealing drugs or selling people or something reprehensible,” she replied.
“We’re not doing those things. What you speculated when you met the club, about us having our hands in certain people going to prison or disappearing, was spot on.
We do it in certain circumstances. Usually, it’s because it touches someone we care about, but not always.
We’ve assisted other clubs in doing the same.
We’ve tangled with other MCs, Mafia families, drug dealers, human traffickers, rapists, child molesters, murderers, and more.
And you know that justice isn’t always obtainable through proper channels.
And by what we do, we can make ourselves more of a target, although we do our best to stay under the radar. ”
There was a look of pleased excitement on her face.
“I goddamn knew it! I just suspected. Mishap never said so, but I heard people say not to mess with the Pagans, but then I heard about how you help your community and about the number of terrible people that seem to disappear, go to prison, or are found dead in the vicinity of this area. It seemed suspicious to me.”
“Thank God the cops don’t make those leaps, or maybe they do but can’t prove it,” I mumbled under my breath.
“So, when you told me to let the police figure out who is assaulting those women…”
“We said that, but in the background, we have Shadow and Cambria, even Crusher if he’s needed, working on trying to find clues to who is behind it.
And we’re gonna find him or them, whichever it is.
When we do, they won’t see the inside of a courtroom or prison.
But we’ve added to our search as of a few days ago. ” I told her.
“You did? What’re you searching for?” she asked.
“Shadow, Cambria, Crusher, and possibly others are going through the police reports and everything they can find on Elodie’s case. We think there’s a possibility we can find whoever hurt her. And if we do, we’ll make him pay, painfully.”
It took a few seconds for it to sink in, and when it did, Bianca burst into tears.
Hell with it. I stood and moved over to sit on the couch next to her.
I took her in my arms and let her use my T-shirt as her hanky.
Christ, it felt wonderful to have her in my arms and to smell her scent.
I held her until the tears stopped. When she glanced up at me, her eyes and the tip of her nose were red.
“Sorry I soaked you. That would be incredible, Cash. But even if you don’t find whoever did it, the fact that you guys are willing to try means the world to me. Thank you. And in the other case, I might’ve found a clue, but I need someone with better computer skills than me to check it out.”
“When did you find a clue?” I asked.
“Tonight. That was what I was working on when Byron and Mishap showed up.”
“I want to see it, but first, I’ve got to ask. Have you decided what you want to do about us? Are we through? Is that why you wanted the guys to leave?” I detested bringing it up, but if I waited much longer, my head might explode.
Her expression changed to a more serious one.
“I was waffling tonight, or I was until my unexpected and unwanted visitors came by. And then you came exploding through the door like a superhero there to save the damsel in distress. When you explained that all your bikes and vehicles are tracked, that people in other clubs are, and the why of it, it helped me understand why you did it. And why you don’t see it as a violation. You do it for purely safety reasons.”
“Yes, we do. It’s not about controlling and knowing every single thing our partner or kids do.
It’s done because family and loved ones are our lives.
At the time we did it to you, you were Mishap’s cousin.
But you so quickly became way more to me, and that meant you were way more to the club. No one wants you hurt, Bianca.”
“I get that now. And it’s helping me to see that I was too harsh. I’m not saying everything is back to normal, and that I won’t want to talk about boundaries, but I don’t want to end our relationship. I’ve been miserable without you, Cash Mason.”
Euphoria hit me. Then it grew as I plastered my lips to hers. She giggled, and we both got lost in a deeply passionate kiss. It lasted for a while before we had to surface.
“Does this mean I can take you home with me tonight, so you can sleep where you’re safe? That door is a mess. Or I can stay here with you,” I murmured.
“I think I’d feel better if we were at the compound.
I don’t want it to be just us if Mishap and Byron return.
Besides, your bed is way more comfortable than mine.
Plus, tomorrow I have to show Shadow what I’ve been working on.
Hopefully, he can tell me whether it is anything or just wishful thinking. ”
“We can do all that. Why don’t you pack while I see if there’s any way I can rig the door to stay shut and make it look like it’s locked? Take anything of value with you, just in case.”
She hopped to her feet. After she gave me a swift peck on the mouth, she hurried to her bedroom while I got to work. I smiled like a fool the entire time.
