Chapter 18
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
Violet
I decided not to go to class today. I won’t focus, so instead I bake. Cupcakes. Cookies. Brownies. Sugar is the way to fix any and all issues.
Hands wrap around my middle from behind and a kiss is laid right over the nape of my neck. The scent of grease and diesel fills my nostrils.
“Hey Mav,” I say, leaning back into him.
“It makes me hard when you know it’s me.” I wiggle my ass into his, yep, erect cock. “Don’t start something we can’t finish.”
“And why can’t we finish?”
“Smells good in here, baby.”
Axel.
I turn as he walks into the kitchen and pounce. Claiming his mouth in a heated kiss.
“Where’s my kiss?”
Not leaving Axels embrace I lean my head back and pucker my lips inviting him in for a kiss. Which he accepts. Maverick takes no time pushing his tongue into my mouth, exploring. I can taste the mint from the gum he was chewing earlier. A small moan leaves me. I can feel Axel start to harden, which has me grinding myself onto him. Looks like we’re starting something.
Before we can get too carried away my phone starts blaring. We all groan in unison.
“Ignore it, it’s just my mum. She’s been calling all day.”
Maverick grabs the neck of my shirt and rips it clean off my body. I should be mad, but I’m too turned on to care.
Axel starts on my denim shorts, opening the button and sliding his hand in. “Fuck, baby, you’re soaked.” He removes his fingers to show me. I grab his hand with the intention to suck them into my mouth, but Maverick beats me to it, sucking my wetness off his best friend’s finger. Axel doesn’t look surprised in the slightest, but I am. Because one, that was hot, and two—I don’t have a two.
“Fucking sinful.” He licks my neck and then nibbles on my earlobe.
My phone goes off. Again.
“Fucks sake.” I pick up my phone. Mum, again. She’s been relentless, but I decide to answer. “What? What do you want?”
Maverick keeps kissing my neck and palms one of my breasts while Axel reinserts his hand into my panties and encases my neglected nipple in his mouth. I try to stifle a moan, I do, but I can’t.
“A-are you—?” she can’t find her word and I chuckle at that. Fuck her.
“Yes, Mum, I am just being a slut.” Axel has two fingers in my pussy, while Maverick’s mouth has moved towards my nipple.
Ignoring my jab she jumps straight to her point, “Landon is the reason you and James broke up.”
“No, Mum, James sticking his dick in someone else is the reason we broke up.”
“Landon came and got your things, and I said James was going to propose, and he said he knew and that’s why he came home.”
I freeze. “What?”
“James was going to propose. Xavier told Landon, and that’s why he came home.”
The orgasm leaves as quickly as it was built. Mum is still going on, but I can’t hear her over the ringing in my ears. Axel and Maverick have stepped back and are looking at me with questions in their gaze.
The closing front door snaps me back into the present and in walks Landon. My stepbrother, my boyfriend, and the reason my relationship crumbled. My boring, dull relationship. But still my relationship. My first relationship.
“What’s going on in here?” he looks cocky as ever.
I hang up on my Mum. She calls back but I ignore it. Landon stops in his tracks.
“Letty?”
“You son of a fucking bitch!” I throw the closest thing. A bag of flour. Landon moves, but he isn’t quick enough.
“I guess your mum called?”
“You’d guess correctly.” I throw something else. Milk.
“Let me explain!”
“Let you explain? Let you explain?” I throw something else. Coco powder.
“You’re mine Letty. Ours.”
I turn on Maverick and Axel now. “Which means you two were a part of it.” Throwing the metal bowls at them.
“Ow, I’m going to bruise.” I think Maverick is trying to break the tension like normal. But it won't work this time.
“You orchestrated his cheating. All of you.” I let the tears fall freely. “You could have told me the truth. You’ve had enough time. But instead, you let the person who tore me down the most tell me.”
I can't look at them anymore.
Axel
Maverick is the one to break the silence “I guess the cat is out of the bag.”
“Would seem so” is all Landon says in return.
Would seem so. What sort of response is that? But I remain silent.
“You’re awfully quiet.”
I shrug “What do you want me to say?”
“Yeah, I’m not sure.” He places the broom against the wall. The kitchen is looking a little better. But God, she got it everywhere.
We hear the shower turn off and then a door slam. Yeah, she’s pissed.
“Go clean yourself up,” I say to Landon as I walk past him.
“And where are you going?”
“To check on Violet.”
By some miracle, she went into my room. It’s the only door that’s closed. I reach it and lightly knock, “Violet?” she ignores me. I knock again. “Baby?” that gets her attention.
“Don’t baby me, Ax.”
“Can I come in?”
“Sure”. That’s all I need. I slowly open the door and peek in. I’m a little worried she will throw something at me.
“What do you want Axel?”
“To check on you.” She’s sitting on the edge of my bed wrapped in a towel and it’s evident she’s been crying. I want to go to her and hug her, but I stay at the door.
“I’m just— I knew you guys were behind it, but it still hurts.”
What do I say to that?
“The fact that you lied to me hurts the most.”
“We didn’t lie.”
Her glare is so intense that I’m afraid actual daggers will shoot from her eyes.
“You didn’t ask anything.”
“Don’t get technical with me,” she throws out after a short silence.
“I’m just saying-”
She cuts me off “Axel, I don’t want to hear anything at the moment.”
“Ok.” I leave her to her thoughts. As the door closes, I hear a sob and that has my heart breaking for her.
Making my way to the kitchen where Landon has left Maverick alone with what used to be a full plate of brownies.
“You ate them all?”
“No, Landon had one.”
I roll my eyes and lean on the kitchen bench. Maverick thrusts a beer bottle into my hands.
“She’s pissed.” I pop the top and take a healthy mouthful.
“Well yeah, no shit.”
We sit in silence. I’m trying to think of a way to make this better, I have no idea what Maverick is thinking, but when I look at him, he is eyeing off the cupcakes Violet made.
“Really? The brownies weren’t enough?”
“Don’t judge me.” He says as he leans over and picks up a cupcake that is heavily coated in icing and sprinkles. I shake my head.
“Fuck off Landon”
Not ten seconds later Landon walks in, scratching the back of his neck. It’s good to see he seems somewhat guilty.
“We’re fucked.” He takes a spot next to me and takes Maverick’s beer from him.
“Hey, I was drinking that.”
“No, you were eating a cupcake, you child.”
Maverick ignores Landon’s jab and makes his way to the hallway.
“Good luck,” Landon calls out.
“Don’t need luck. Look at me. She won’t be able to resist.”
I roll my eyes. Idiot.
