Chapter 30 – Epilogue – Wylie
One month later…?
“So, have you given any more thought to being the twins godfather?” Jovie asked with a wide grin that indicated she already knew the answer.
“You know I wouldn’t let Stevie take on such an important responsibility alone," I winked.
She wrapped her arms around me and hugged tightly, her previously very pregnant stomach now gone and replaced with just the softness of her tiny frame.
“Love you, JoJo.” I said as she grinned and returned the sentiment before heading back inside the living room of Ashwood ranch.
Today was her belated baby shower for the twins, held three months after their arrival. The original date had been disrupted by a massive storm that hit Lonestar Junction, preventing anyone from coming to town. Thankfully, Jovie and Nash had enough supplies to manage the twins unexpected arrival for those first three months without the gifts that everyone had brought today.
Our parents had returned from their recent adventure with a surprise of their own. They were engaged and had started building a home on Cameron ranch where they planned on living the rest of their years together. I'd given them shit about their relationship initially, but now that I was high on my own love story with Stevie, having my dad, Nash, and I married to Vector's seemed to make perfect sense.
"Hey y'all, Jovie's going to start opening her gifts now if you want to join us in the living room," Stevie spoke clapping her hands loudly as the guests who'd assembled made their way with plates full of food into the living room of Ashwood ranch. They circled around Jovie as she crouched near the fireplace, surrounded by a sea of light blue wrapped gifts and my two twin nephews in their bouncer chairs.
Stevie joined me near the back of the room, wrapping her arms around my waist tightly. I bent down to kiss her gently on the lips.
"You look beautiful today."
She was wearing a loose sundress with no shoes and her golden curls had been tucked into my mother's cream cowgirl hat. The new, carefree styled she'd adopted since moving back to Lonestar Junction permanently suited her and though I loved every version of Stevie that I’d known in our short time together, this version reminded me of how she'd looked on our wedding day and that made me feel like she had brought my mother into the atmosphere once again.
"You like this hat on me?" she asked with a smile.
I nodded, "Reminds me of our wedding day. I never told you this, but it was my mother's."
Her eyes widened in shock, "Wylie... I had no idea."
I shook my head, "It felt like she was with us when I saw you walking down the aisle wearing it. It was what she would have wanted. I think she would have loved you. The last time she wore it was a sad memory. Now, each time I see it, I think of our wedding day instead."
She nodded again, taking my hand in hers. I ran my fingers over my mother's ring, which she had started wearing since moving back, and watched how it glittered against the low lighting in the same way it had when my mom had worn it.
"If you could do our wedding over again, would you change anything about it?" she asked.
I shook my head, “I wouldn’t change a thing. It was everything I could have wanted. You, wearing a dress a couple sizes too small with those soft tits spilling out of it, your wild hair whipping around your face and my momma’s hat on your head. And me, feeling like a damn fool in front of the only people who mattered in our lives saying vows to a woman who scared the shit out of me that I now get to love for the rest of my life. It’s a memory I’ll cherish and a story I’ll tell our kids for generations to come.”
She grabbed my face and pulled it closer as her mouth covered mine.
“You want kids someday right, Stevie?” I asked.
She nodded her head eagerly. “But is nine months too soon?”
I raised a brow, “You pregnant, little Bandit?”
She nodded again, the sun reflecting off her light blonde curls peeking out from under my mama’s hat. “I am.”
I scooped her up and spun her in a circle while we enjoyed our private moment away from prying eyes.
“You didn’t just steal my hats, clothes and heart, Bandit, you stole my dreams and I'll never be able to top what you're giving me in return.”
The End
