Chapter 7

I woke up to sunlight streaming through the windows and the smell of coffee coming from downstairs. For a second, I didn’t know where I was; then I moved and felt it all at once. I was sore everywhere.

My thighs hurt in a way that made me remember exactly how Bishop held them open. My hips ached from the way he’d gripped them while he fucked me from behind. My ass was tender from where he’d spanked me and spread me open with his hands.

There were muscles I didn’t even know I had that were letting me know they existed now.

I could feel where his fingers had dug into my skin, where his mouth had sucked and bitten, and where his dick had stretched me open and filled me up.

I felt it all. Checking my phone on the nightstand, I saw that it was almost noon.

I sat up slowly, and the sheet fell off me.

My pussy was swollen and sensitive in a way that made me catch my breath.

With Cedric, I never woke up feeling like this.

Ever. Sex was always soft, slow, routine, and predictable.

It was the same thing every single time for years.

Same positions, same rhythm, and the same ten minutes of him on top of me grunting until he came and rolled over.

I’d stopped expecting anything special years ago because there was nothing to expect.

It was just something married people did because they were supposed to.

But last night was completely different from anything I’d ever experienced.

I’d squirted twice, and I didn’t even know my body could do that.

I’d let Bishop eat my ass, and I’d loved every second of it.

The truth was I couldn’t get enough of it.

And the craziest part wasn’t even the sex, though.

I didn’t feel anxious about where this was going because I already knew it was a one-time thing.

My body was relaxed in a way it hadn’t been in years, and my mind felt clear and calm.

I wasn’t running through my mental to-do list or thinking about everyone I needed to take care of or all the things I should be doing.

I wasn’t second-guessing myself or overthinking everything like I usually did.

I was just here in this moment. I was present, satisfied, and at peace.

I heard movement downstairs and something sizzling in a pan. I grabbed my robe from the chair and wrapped it around myself, then headed downstairs. Bishop was in the kitchen, wearing his jeans from last night but no shirt, making breakfast. The sight of him made my pussy thump.

“Mornin’, beautiful,” he said, looking up when he heard me. “I’m makin’ you brunch. Hope that’s cool.”

“That’s more than cool,” I said, walking over to pour myself a cup of coffee with a little sugar. “You didn’t have to do this, though.”

“I wanted to. Besides, I’m a chef. Cookin’ is what I do for work, remember?”

“Oh, I remember.” I leaned against the counter with my coffee, smiling at him. “You did a whole lot of work last night.”

He looked over at me with a slow grin. I laughed and took another sip of my coffee as he went back to making breakfast. He was making eggs, bacon, and home fries. “How you sleep?” he asked.

“Good,” I said. “Really good.”

He smiled. “That’s what’s up. What you got planned for the day?”

“Hmm… I was just gonna relax. Maybe sit on the deck and read.”

“Shit, I might kick it wit’ you then. I ain’t got shit to do ’til early tomorrow mornin’.”

“You… you wanna stay?” I asked, surprised.

He looked at me like the question was stupid. “I’m still here, ain’t I? Besides, I wanna chef up somethin’ special for you.”

“Besides good dick?”

Bishop threw his head back with laughter. “See, now you talkin’ like you got some sense.” He walked over to me, slid an arm around my waist, and pulled me against him before lowering his mouth to my neck. “So am I stayin’ or what?” he murmured against my skin, kissing my neck.

My breath caught as a shiver ran through me, and I tilted my head to give him more access. “You already know the answer to that.”

“Bet. Let’s eat.”

We ate breakfast on the deck, and the conversation flowed easily. He told me more about his time in prison for drug dealing and how hard it had been to adjust when he got out. He also told me how people treated him differently once they knew he had a record.

“It’s like they can’t see past the shit,” he said. “They just see 'ex-con,' and that’s all I am to them. They don’t see that I’m tryna build somethin’ and I’m workin’ toward a goal.”

“I see it,” I said, sipping my mimosa. “And I think what you’re doing is impressive. Not everyone gets a second chance and actually does something with it.”

“I appreciate that,” he said, and he reached across the table to take my hand. “Yo’, you easy as fuck to talk to, you know that?”

“So are you.”

After we finished breakfast on the deck, Bishop leaned back in his chair and stretched his arms over his head. I watched the muscles flex as he moved, my eyes drifting down over his stomach and the tattoos that disappeared into the waistband of his jeans.

“I gotta head out for a minute,” he said, and my stomach dropped a little before I could stop it. “I need to run back to my spot, change and I wanna pick up some more groceries.”

“Sounds good to me, chef.” I smiled, sipping the last of my mimosa.

“Good.” He stood up and came around the table to where I was sitting. He leaned down and kissed me, slow and deep, and I felt it all the way down to my toes. “I’ll be back in a couple hours. Don’t miss a nigga too much.”

“I’ll try to contain myself,” I winked, and he laughed.

I watched him head upstairs, then he came back down completely dressed in his clothes from last night.

He grabbed some of his cooking stuff, and I walked him to the door, where he kissed me one more time before he left.

His hand slid down to squeeze my ass through my robe, and then he was gone.

I stood there for a second after the door closed, listening to his truck start up and pull out of the driveway.

I went up to the bathroom and started running the water, making it as hot as I could stand.

Once again, I used the bath powder and watched the water foam up.

The whole room started to smell like lavender and eucalyptus.

I dropped my robe on the floor and looked at myself in the mirror while the tub filled.

I looked like I’d been thoroughly fucked and I couldn’t even be embarrassed about it.

I climbed into the tub and sank into the hot water with a groan.

I closed my eyes and let myself soak for a while.

The water felt good on my skin, and the heat helped with the soreness.

After about twenty minutes, I sat up and actually washed myself.

I used the expensive body wash that smelled like honey and shea butter, and I took my time, scrubbing everywhere and rinsing off.

By the time I got out, I felt clean and refreshed and ready to deal with the mess downstairs from last night’s party. I dried off and moisturized my whole body with the cocoa butter lotion I’d packed. I took my time, rubbing it into my skin until I was soft and smooth everywhere.

I went into the bedroom and fished through the closet until I found the lounge set I’d bought specifically for this trip.

It was a matching set in deep purple, soft cotton with a little stretch.

The pants sat low on my hips, and the top was cropped just enough to show a sliver of my stomach.

I smiled at myself in the mirror, then twisted my hair up into a high bun and secured it with a scrunchie.

I sprayed some perfume and headed downstairs.

In the living room, I surveyed the damage from last night.

There were empty wine and champagne bottles on every surface.

Plastic cups were scattered around the living room, along with napkins and plates that needed to be thrown away.

Decorations were still hanging up, and I laughed to myself as I started gathering everything up.

I grabbed a trash bag from under the sink and started throwing things away.

I was in the middle of taking down a banner when my phone rang. I looked at the screen and saw it was a group FaceTime call. I answered, and the girls immediately popped up on the screen. “There she is,” Kela said, grinning at me. “We were wondering if you were still alive.”

“I’m alive,” I said, propping my phone up on the coffee table so I could keep cleaning while we talked.

“Girl, you look different,” Nicole said, squinting at the screen. “You look relaxed.”

“Sooo, what happened with chef?” Sharice asked.

I felt my face get warm and I tried not to smile too hard. “He didn’t leave until this morning.” There was a moment of silence, and then all of them started screaming at once.

“Oh my god,” Tanya said. “Minni got some dick!”

“After twenty-one years with Mr. Dry Dick,” Nicole snickered. “It’s about damn time!”

“Y’all are so loud,” I laughed. “Can you calm down?”

“No, we cannot calm down!” Sharice shrieked. “You finally got some new dick, and we need details. How was it?”

“I’m not giving y’all details.”

“Bitch, was it good though?” Kela asked. “Did he put it down? Lord knows he looks like he’s a demon in the bedroom.”

“It was very good,” I said, and my face felt like it was on fire. “He definitely knows what he’s doing.”

“I knew it,” Nicole said. “I could tell just by looking at him. That man has BDE for days.”

“And he’s fine as hell,” Tanya added. “Girl, you did good.”

“I can tell he’s a lot younger than me,” I told them, still cleaning up the living room. “I’m no better than Cedric.”

“First off, you’re single,” Sharice shrugged. “It’s not the same thing. Besides, you ain’t gotta date the man.”

“Exactly,” Nicole agreed. “This is just about fun and sex.”

“They’re right, Minni,” Kela smirked. “He’s grown, and clearly he knows how to handle his business.”

“Minnesa out here getting her groove back! You go, bitch!” Tanya hollered, and we all laughed.
