Chapter 37 Samian

Samian

Before I could fall asleep, I climbed out of the bed, forcing Sybil to follow me and clean up.

She mumbled out a sleepy response but didn’t argue as she padded toward the bathing room.

Once she was done, Sybil walked back to the bed, collapsing onto the soft surface.

She inched her way toward Kieran, letting his chest wrap around her back.

The corner of my mouth rose as Kieran pulled her closer to him, my heart warming at the sight.

I soon followed, settling in beside Sybil, slightly shifting her so she could rest her head on my chest while my legs intertwined with hers. I was exhausted from the day, but I watched as Sybil wearily blinked, her mind refusing to shut off.

“What is the blood flower?” Sybil finally asked softly, as if she didn’t want to disturb the peaceful silence around us.

With his eyes still closed, Kieran answered first. “It’s a plant with scarlet blooms that grows in warmer climates.

It has a few medical purposes, but its primary use and why it’s so important to the palace is that it purges your system.

Whether you are poisoned or someone’s magic infiltrates your body, the blood flower will purge it before you can die. ”

“What does that mean—when someone’s magic infiltrates your body?” Sybil asked, propping her head up on her chin to watch me.

“There are a few faeries that have magic that can seep into your bloodstream, like the vampires from tonight. Their magic puts a strain on your own. If you have a serum made with the blood flower, you could use it to get your magic back,” I murmured sluggishly, my eyes feeling heavy as I stared at the ceiling, sleep threatening to pull me under.

“Why does Ambrose need it?”

Turning my gaze to her, my brows pinched in confusion. “I’m not sure, honestly. I just know that he takes it periodically, though he is secretive about it.”

“But—”

“Rest, Sybil,” Kieran whispered. “We don’t need to figure this out tonight. We can discuss it with the others later.”

Sybil sighed but didn’t argue. We were all exhausted from the day, and we needed to rest as much as possible before the execution.

My chest tightened at the thought of how close it was.

Just one more day until all the lords and people of Volmire gathered to watch innocent people die.

I closed my eyes, trying not to think of their fates, letting a deep sleep pull me under.

I woke up to the feel of hot silk wrapping around my cock, a smooth tongue swirling around me as Sybil’s lips slowly moved up and down, teasing me. I groaned, my hand curling around her hair, as she took me deeper and faster.

Sybil moaned around me, and I cursed, opening my eyes, finding Kieran behind her, his fingers dipping into her cunt. Sybil moved to the rhythm of Kieran finger-fucking her, and I pushed deeper into the warmth of her mouth, unable to stop.

Sybil chuckled, letting my cock go with a pop, and moved to straddle me.

My hands found her waist as she lined me up with her center and sank onto me in one go.

I hissed at the feel of her clenching tight around me, almost making me come right then and there.

Sybil began to move, but I held her there, my cock twitching inside her, as I breathed deeply, reveling in the feel of her.

Sybil gasped as Kieran moved behind her, bringing his fingers to her lips. “Lick, and make sure they are good and wet for me, Princess.”

Sybil clenched me tighter, and I bit back a groan.

When Kieran pulled his fingers from her mouth, I felt Sybil squeeze around me as Kieran pushed a finger into her ass, slowly pumping, pushing further inside her.

Her breath hitched in her throat, and her head fell back, her eyes closed, overcome with pleasure.

When I could finally move without losing control, I lifted my hips, moving deeper inside.

Sybil moaned and took over, her hips moving slowly.

Sybil whimpered as Kieran lifted her off me and leaned her forward.

I growled at the loss of her around me, but her lips found mine in a clash of teeth and tongue.

Sybil sucked in a breath when Kieran replaced his fingers with his cock, a throaty sigh slipping past her lips before her mouth crashed back into mine again.

Kieran let out a groan and pulled Sybil back, letting her line up to my cock and sinking down.

I breathed through the pleasure gathering in the pit of my stomach as Kieran and I worked her in tandem.

Kieran had one hand on her waist, while the other wrapped around her, resting against her throat.

Her moans filled the air while I circled my thumb around her clit, gazing in awe as pleasure lined every breathtaking feature of hers.

We moved faster, our thrusts becoming wilder.

With my other hand, I kneaded her breast, painfully twisting her nipple.

Sybil cried out, her cunt clenching around me, wrenching my own climax from me.

I spilled into her in thick, hot waves as Kieran followed.

Breathless, Sybil and Kieran fell onto the bed.

My chest rose and fell rapidly, our panting filling the room.

I turned my head to watch the elation on Sybil’s face as a wide smile spread across her face.

“That was a great way to start the morning,” Kieran chuckled, still trying to catch his breath.

“Samian did that the other morning,” Sybil rasped, “I figured I should repay the favor.”

“I guess I’ll have to do that more often,” I laughed, my heart finally calming down.

Kieran grumbled something about the next time being his turn as I rolled out of the bed, helping Sybil crawl out to clean up.

Once we dressed ourselves, we made our way back to the council room, finding the rest of our party eating a small breakfast. Kieran led Sybil to the table as I made a plate for us.

Kieran finally came up beside me, checking over his shoulder.

“I want you to talk to Hale when you get back. See if you can find out his intentions and if he is willing to help us in return. I still don’t trust him, but Orin wants to switch out some guards with ones of our own to be in the arena with Sybil. ”

“I’ll find him as soon as we return. But from what Ivara told us yesterday, he has apparently been helping servants escape throughout the years. Ivara seems to trust him enough to believe that he is doing this to protect his brother.”

“I don’t want to take any chances. Form a bond with him if you can. I want to be completely sure before we throw our trust in him.”

“I can do that.” I nodded, keeping my focus on my plate.

Hale had always seemed the type that only helped himself, which made me wary of him, but now I wondered if that was just a ruse to hide what he was really doing around the palace from Ambrose.

Though his reaching out to Sybil was an unwelcome move, I could understand why he did it.

The rest of the morning was calm as we ate and talked happily.

There was a lightness in the air after yesterday’s events, a hope that was building in each of our hearts.

After we finished our meal, we returned to the palace.

The joy and ease we felt immediately fell away when we gathered in Ambrose’s office to provide him with an update.

Arianna sat on the arm of his chair, her viper smile making my stomach churn.

Ever since learning that she was the one who murdered the villager that Sybil was blamed for, I’d been biding my time, searching for any opening to kill her.

Unfortunately for me, she hadn’t left Ambrose’s side since Sybil’s bargain was put into place.

But I swore to myself that her death would be a painful one.

Ambrose leaned back in his chair, his attention fixed solely on Sybil.

I blinked, stunned, when I saw him so disheveled this morning.

His hair was wildly unkempt, his eyes crazed as his fingers tapped restlessly on his desk.

His skin looked pale from the lack of sleep, and he winced every now and then, likely from the voice speaking unknown words in his mind.

Ambrose snarled for us to get out after Ivara gave him an update on her territory and Aster showed him the blood flowers picked from Ivara’s estate.

We quickly left the room, not wanting to push Ambrose any further.

If the last meeting was any indication, Ambrose had no qualms about killing anyone who crossed him, regardless of loyalty.

As we all made our way through the hall, I brushed my hand against Sybil’s. “Go on without me,” I said, through our bond. “I need to discuss something with Aster first.”

“Hurry back,” Sybil said, giving me a slight smile.

Giving her a quick nod, I pulled on Aster’s bond, watching the female give me a side-long glance. “We need to speak. Alone.”

“Fine,” she sighed, rolling her eyes, “we can talk in my office.”

Breaking away from the group, I followed Aster to the medical wing. Entering her office, I waited until she moved the bookshelf in front of the door to speak. “I need you to make a healing elixir for Cassia, but I need it to be something discreet.”

Aster narrowed her steel-like eyes on me. “Why does she need that?”

I hesitated, looking at the floor. Swallowing, I took a deep breath, opening my mouth to answer her.

“Because the dear old queen is dying,” a male voice said from the corner.

Aster and I stilled, our bodies going rigid. I slowly turned my head to the voice, my hand drifting to my dagger, though Aster’s face turned a sickly pale.

“Now, now,” Hale grinned, putting his hands in front of him in surrender. “There’s no need for that, Samian. I’m just here to talk.”

“When did you get here?” Aster asked, her voice trembling.

Hale’s gaze softened as he moved his attention to her. “As soon as I heard you were back, I came here hoping that Samian or Sybil would follow you. I truly mean no harm to you or anyone else.”
