26. Chapter Twenty-Six
Chapter Twenty-Six
Finn
I struggled, pushing against his grip with everything I had. The darkness around me was closing in, but the fire in my chest was brighter than ever.
“I’ll make you pay for this,” I said as I looked at Vera still struggling for my life.
“How bold of you to threaten my mother in front of me,” Lucifer said with a vile smirk as he kept on strangling me.
So, you are Lucifer, my half-brother and the cursed one, I thought.
“Let him go!” Aidan ordered as he used all his strength to break free from the chains and at the speed of light ran towards Lucifer and pushed him away.
“Oh …my…” I struggled to talk as I kept on coughing.
“Are you okay?” Aidan asked.
“Yeah… I am,” I said as I stood beside him as Vampires surrounded us, and Lucifer and Vera faced us.
“You need to howl now, that’s the signal for backup to arrive,” Aidan muttered.
I howled a primal roar that echoed through the warehouse. My body surged with power, bones cracked, fur blonde, and my eyes glowed yellow. I grew larger, towering over everyone, an unstoppable force, ready to fight.
“That’s more like it,” Aidan smirked at me.
Then, I heard running feet, followed by the unmistakable roar of wolves joining the battle.
“They are here, I think Damon must have called the other werewolves,” Aidan said.
Aidan’s vampires appeared with weapons in hand, opening fire on Vera’s vampires. The shots rang out, hitting their marks, and chaos erupted in the warehouse.
“How come they are dying? Bullets don’t kill vampires,” I said as I looked around confused.
“They are silver bullets, hence them dying” Aidan answered...
Amid the chaos, Damon emerged in his werewolf form. His grey fur and yellow eyes marked him as a beta wolf, smaller but powerful. He charged into battle, tearing through Vera’s vampires. I snarled, ready to take down anyone who stood in my way.
“I see, your backup has arrived, I was wondering how you’d come here with just Amelia,” Vera smirked as she looked at Aidan.
“You can still put a stop to this, we don’t have to kill ourselves,” Aidan said.
“My dear brother, death is inevitable for all of us. It’s time Lucifer!”
The room seemed to freeze, the ground trembled beneath my feet as Lucifer’s body expanded, muscles rippling, and his fur grew thicker and darker. He towered over us, easily twice the size of a typical alpha wolf, his massive form intimidating and powerful. His eyes glowed a blood-red, and with a deafening roar, he sent a shockwave through the air.
What the … I thought.
The moment my howl tore from my throat, I felt the raw power ripple through the air, shoving back friend and foe alike. The warehouse trembled around us, dust shaking loose from the rafters.
"Kill them all!" Vera's command sliced through the chaos.
My body still burned with the energy of my transformation, muscles coiled tight, claws itching to tear into Lucifer. I could feel him - his arrogance, his cruelty, the way he looked at me like I was nothing. Like I'd always been nothing to him.
"Stay back, Amelia," Aidan stepped forward, voice low.
Damon's growl told me Amelia was safe. Then Lucifer moved towards Aidan.
In a blink Aidan was flying backward, blood arcing from claw marks across his chest. “Aidan!” Amelia screamed.
Aidan’s expression didn’t falter, though, as he righted himself and snarled.
“You’re not the only one with power, Lucifer,” I said.
I didn’t wait to see the next move. With a roar, I charged at Lucifer, my massive frame crashing into him. The impact knocked him back, but it wasn’t enough to bring him down. I swung a massive paw at his head, but he blocked it effortlessly, his claws slashing toward me.
“You think you can take me on, Finn?” Lucifer taunted, grinning wickedly. “You’re no alpha and to think that you are my older brother, how pathetic.”
The words stung, but I shoved the anger down.
Focus, Finn! You can’t afford to lose control now, I thought.
Around us, the fight raged. Aidan and Vera were a whirl of fangs and claws, her laughter sharp as she dodged his blows.
"Predictable," she taunted.
"Aidan! Finn!" Amelia's scream cut through the noise.
"We're fine!" I snapped, though my ribs ached from Lucifer's last hit. "Damon, get her out of here!"
"I'm not leaving!" Amelia's voice was fierce, but I couldn't focus on her.
Lucifer lunged again, his jaws snapping for my throat. I twisted, barely avoiding his teeth.
"Amelia, GO!"
Aidan landed a brutal punch on Vera, sending her crashing into a stack of crates. She wiped blood from her mouth, grinning.
"Is that all you've got?"
Lucifer's attention flickered toward them, and I saw my chance. I slammed into him, knocking him off balance.
"Stay down!"
He threw me off with a roar. "You're not strong enough."
I lunged again, claws raking across his chest - but the wound closed instantly.
He heals faster than a vampire, I thought.
Amelia's scream tore through me. A vampire had her.
“Amelia! Aidan screamed.
Damon was there in an instant, tearing into the bastard, but Vera moved faster. She slammed Damon down, her foot pressing into his ribs.
"Weak," she snarled.
Rage burned through me. I started forward, but Aidan was already moving.
He tackled Vera, their bodies crashing into the debris. His voice was raw.
"You made me do this."
The sickening crack of Vera's ribs gave way to a wet tear as Aidan ripped her heart out, her lifeless body hitting the ground in the sudden silence.
"MOTHER!" Lucifer growled.
The sound was agony, rage, grief - it shook the walls, and rattled my bones. Before I could react, his hand closed around my throat, lifting me off the ground.
Aidan was next, dangling in Lucifer's other grip.
"You'll die screaming," Lucifer snarled.
"NO!" Amelia's voice cut through the haze.
I barely saw her move - just the flash of wood as she hurled it at Lucifer.
He dropped us, catching her by the throat instead.
"Really?" Lucifer said as he turned and started strangling Amelia.
"The prophecy... her blood can kill him; you need to distract him" Aidan's voice was a breathless gasp.
I didn't think. I moved.
Roaring, I slammed into Lucifer, knocking Amelia free.
"Fight me, you coward!"
Lucifer turned, snarling, and I saw Aidan lunge for Amelia out of the corner of my eye. A quick slash of his claws and her blood welled in her palm.
I locked Lucifer in a chokehold, making him kneel as I bent his head backwards, my muscles screaming as he thrashed.
"NOW, AIDAN!"
Aidan wrenched Lucifer's jaws open.
Amelia's blood dripped onto his tongue.
"No-!" Lucifer's eyes went wide.
His body convulsed, veins turning black, and smoke poured from his mouth as his flesh bubbled.
"You... won't... win..." he choked out, each word dripping with venom.
Lucifer's body ruptured, releasing a shockwave that sent me flying. The warehouse trembled as shelves collapsed. When the dust cleared, Lucifer was gone.
“It worked! He’s gone!” Aidan rejoiced.
The warehouse lay in ruins, blood in the air. My body ached, but victory settled over me. Amelia reached me first, her arms around my neck, burying her face in my fur.
"We did it," she whispered, her voice trembling with exhaustion and relief.
I shifted back to my human form after my wounds healed. I pulled her tighter against me, breathing in the familiar scent of her hair.
"We did it," I murmured.
Aidan approached, his face streaked with blood and dirt, but his expression was lighter than I'd ever seen it. He clapped a hand on my shoulder, his grip firm.
"You fought well, Finn."
"Thank you, Damon, for protecting Amelia. We should head back to the safe house. I will have some people take care of the dead bodies," Aidan exhaled, running a hand through his hair.
“Why don’t we go somewhere else? Just the three of us…” I said.
“Where do you have in mind?” Amelia asked.
“It’s a surprise,” I winked at her.
