Chapter 38 Robbie
ROBBIE
“You’ve ruined me for any other man.”
I’d actually said that. How could I have said something so very stupid, during what was in essence, our um, yeti wedding. Ha, essence! Aaaannnnd that’s how I’d managed to say that. My brain had been thoroughly broken so my inner Robbie had been free to let whatever occurred to him right on out.
Thankfully, Gree-Gree merely grinned proudly, showing his slightly bloodstained teeth off in a way that was, well, slightly terrifying but who was I to judge after dropping that clanger.
“Then it is just as well there will never be another male, my Rah-bee,” he said before getting up to fetch something to wipe us down. And to fetch a jar of healing ointment, it appeared.
“Let us out on robes and go to the pools,” he said after wiping most of the mess off us both. “We do not wish to soil our bedding and the water will make you feel better.”
I blushed, knowing he was referring to my abused hole.
“We do need to wash these bites out well,” I added.
He nodded. “Yes, it will help them close up and scar faster.”
“And avoid infection.”
“The venom will not allow sickness to enter via the wound.”
I blinked. “Really? Good to know.”
“Yes, but the venom only appears during mating.”
“Gotcha. No biting unless fucking.”
He nodded.
“So, I was thinking,” I said, as we laid there a few moments longer. “Why can’t we get some of the hot water brought here? So we can wash without going to the pools.”
“But the water goes to there, through the stone. It does not here, even before we built the houses.”
“Yes, but what if we dug into the rock, to the source, and laid pipes?”
“Pipes? I do not know what a pieps is, but if we dig into the rock, the water will drain away and the rock will become weak.”
I sighed. He didn’t understand what I was suggesting.
That was alright. I could speak with my friends and see what they thought, after spending more time examining the pools and sinks to figure out where the source originated, and to see if there were more feeder springs waiting to be discovered.
He was right though, we’d need to be careful.
It wouldn't do to collapse the caverns down onto us all. If it looked like it was too dangerous, I’d simply have to abandon that particular idea.
I smiled at him brightly, not wanting him to worry as he did every time he thought I was stressed or disappointed.
“Never mind.”
I leaned in, pecking him on the lips. “Come on, I could use a nap after everything that happened today.”
He nodded. “It has been a day full of new things.”
He stood up, offering me his hand to help me pull myself up.
I grinned at him, the happiness now fully honest. “I know what my favorite new thing is.” He cocked his head, looking curious. “Finding out we’re mates and being claimed by my alien huntsman.”
He pulled me against him, hugging me tightly.
“I love you, my Rah-bee.”
