Chapter 21

Nick

Holy fucking shit.

She’s wearing this long, strapless gown in a rich red color—the same color as the dress she wore to that house party we went to at the beginning of the school year.

The tight fabric hugs every curve of her body. It dips low in the front, showing off her perfect tits.

She turns to step around someone, and I see the curve of her ass. So plump and perfect.

Sweet Jesus.

She’s the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

Something taps my shoulder. I turn to the side and see Travis.

“You okay?” he asks.

I clear my throat and tug at my tie, then cough. “Yeah. All good.”

“You look like one of those cartoon characters when their eyes pop out of their sockets,” he says.

I nod at Poppy. “Can you blame me? My girlfriend’s hot.”

Her lush mouth curves up in a shy smile when she walks up to me. Her lipstick is the exact shade of red that her dress is. My cock twitches as I imagine what it would be like to have her lips on my mouth…and my cock.

My dick twitches in my pants.

“Hey,” she says softly. She holds her hands up at her sides. “Surprise.”

I open my mouth, but nothing comes out. Just a strangled noise.

Her big hazel eyes sparkle as she looks at me. “You like my dress?”

Again, I open my mouth, but nothing comes out. Just more choking and grunting noises.

She starts to chuckle. “I’ll translate that as a yes?”

I nod. Travis claps a hand on my shoulder. “He’s having a little trouble with words right now,” Travis says to Poppy.

Her smile widens and her cheeks flush. “I’ll take that as a compliment.”

I can’t stop staring at her. The red color makes her skin look like porcelain. She looks so beautiful and so perfect.

“Fucking hell, you look really fucking hot,” I finally say.

Travis looks at me, unimpressed. But Poppy’s smile turns flustered, and she blushes even brighter.

I reach out and grab her waist, pulling her against me. I lower my mouth to her ear. “So fucking hot,” I rasp.

She giggles. “You keep saying that.”

“Because my brain is so fried from seeing you in that insanely sexy dress that I can’t think straight.” I dust a kiss along the hinge of her jaw. She shivers under my mouth, and I groan softly.

When I lean back to look at her, her eyelids flutter and her mouth parts open.

I’m aching to crash my mouth against hers and kiss her so hard that she forgets her name.

No kissing, I remind myself.

Her eyes are dazed as she gazes up at me. She looks at my mouth, like she’s waiting for more.

I lean my mouth to her ear once more and pretend like I’m smoothing out her hair, which is styled in pretty long waves over her shoulder.

“You look like you want me to kiss you,” I whisper.

“Um…I…” She’s breathing hard. I can tell just how bad she wants my mouth on hers, and it’s making me feel very smug and satisfied right now.

“But there’s not gonna be a kiss,” I say. “Because you don’t want it, Poppy. You made the rules.”

I lean back and try my hardest not to laugh at the way her expression turns to a pout.

I look up and see my sister Anna walk over to us.

She smiles at me, then turns to Poppy. “Hey. Sorry I took so long in the ladies’ room. Peeing while wearing a gown is a lot harder than I thought it would be.” Anna elbows me. “Doesn’t your girlfriend look stunning?”

I nod. “Fuck, yes.”

Anna holds up her arms and does a spin. “Well?”

She gestures at the shiny black gown she’s wearing. It’s strapless like Poppy’s, but there’s not a dip in the neckline. Her long hair is pulled to the side in a low bun that’s kind of messy.

I roll my eyes. “You look nice too.”

She grins and rests her hand on her hip. “Thank you.”

Travis makes a scoffing noise. He rolls his eyes before looking off to the side.

Anna frowns at him. “What’s your problem?”

“Fishing for compliments isn’t a good look,” he mutters.

“Well, good thing I didn’t ask for your opinion,” Anna snaps back. “Shouldn’t you be in a cave somewhere making tools out of rocks? I thought you weren’t interested in normal human activities like socializing?”

“Anna, take it easy,” I say. I hate that my best friend and twin sister don’t get along, but it’s always been like this between them. Ever since they met, all they do is bicker at each other.

“Whatever,” Travis grumbles. He turns to me. “I’ll see you inside.”

Anna waves at a group of people a dozen feet away. “Oh, my friends from study group are here. I’m gonna go say hi. You guys have fun tonight.”

“You too,” I say, then turn to Poppy. I smile at her and grab her hand in mine. “You ready to head inside, hot tutor?”

“So ready.”
