Chapter Four #2

Milo scrunched his nose. “I can’t. I need to study.” He groaned. “I suck at math so bad, I have to retake one class over the summer cause I failed it last semester.”

“Oh? What do you study?”

“Don’t look so surprised.”

“I’m not.” Okay, I was. A little.

Milo punched me in the arm. “Small business management and administration.” He laughed. “Now you look even more shocked.”

“No, but um… I’m good at math, I work in an accounting and loans company.

So, if you’d like me to take a look at what you’re dealing with.

Maybe I could help.” We were heading to my room to, presumably, do the exact opposite of talking about calculus and algebra.

What was happening right now? Was I ruining the chance for a night with Milo?

His face softened. “I’m sure you’re busy, but I appreciate the thought.”

“I’m bored out of my mind in a town I don’t know, and where I have no friends. Well, I do, but Troy is preoccupied romancing my sister, Raina, over the phone while they’re apart.”

“Ouch. Long distance must be hard. I would never be able to do that. I’m too physical.

” Milo pursed his lips. “Or as some might call it, clingy. But don’t worry, I do it only when I’m in a relationship.

” He lifted his index finger and stopped in his tracks.

“Actually—” He looked up at me. “Can I kiss you?”

“Yes.” My reply was immediate.

He stood on tippy toes and pulled himself up by bracing himself on my pecs, but I bent to his level in time to meet him halfway. His lips touched mine, and I opened for him. The gentle kiss grew deeper when he licked into my mouth.

My body lit up like a firework and butterflies stormed through my stomach. The whole experience was so intense it felt like it was my very first kiss: something I should cherish and remember forever. He tasted of apples and promises I couldn’t keep.

I’d lick every inch of him if he’d let me, worship his body and sleep at his feet.

Milo pulled away, leaving me breathless. The powerful need to pull him back into my arms and never let go was beyond logic. What was he doing to me?

He grinned and nodded. “Okay, we can go now.”

I chuckled, keeping my composure in place, and my boner in my pants. “Did I pass some kind of test?”

“Yup. If we had no spark, there would be no point in continuing.”

“So you did feel one?” I sure as fuck had.

The flush on his cheeks was my answer already. “Oh yeah. Let’s walk faster.”

We sped past the lobby, having survived an awkward elevator ride with a drunk couple barely holding onto each other, then passed the door to 1608.

I took him by the waist and crowded him against the door. The saucy look he gave me told me he didn’t mind a bit of manhandling. He spread his hands on my chest, then slid them down to my waist without hesitation, working my belt buckle open.

I cupped his cheek with one hand and braced the other on the doorframe behind him. He wet his lips with his tongue, inviting me. I accepted and tangled us into a kiss that mixed the sweetness of not knowing each other and the desperate need to learn.

The certainty of his movements fuelled the heat in me. I needed him like the next breath, but after drinking several beers at the club, I really needed to piss too.

I pulled away, panting. “I’ll be a moment. Make yourself at home.” I motioned to the room in general.

It was slightly bigger than a standard room at a good hotel, with a living area corner that included a coffee table and a sofa. The bedroom side had two dressers and a longer king-size bed I had to ask for in advance.

“I’ll want to use the bathroom too.” Milo hopped onto the duvet and linked his hands behind his head.

His smile was carefree, and to my shock, completely different from any I’ve seen before during the day. As if only now he was truly relaxed.

“Before we do anything, just know that my company requires me to be tested for everything after every trip abroad, and I got my all-clear results this week,” I said from the doorway to the bathroom.

Milo nodded. “I’m good to go, too. Now hurry up.”

I peed, freshened up, and brushed my teeth as fast as possible. With a swagger in my step, I reentered the bedroom and opened my mouth to talk to Milo, but stopped.

Milo was splayed on the bed with his T-shirt halfway up his chest, his lips parted, his breathing even. He was dead asleep.

His energy must run out sometime.

He looked absolutely adorable, and I didn’t have the heart to wake him up to send him home.

I covered him with a blanket, turned the lights off, and made myself comfortable on the sofa.

I could watch something on my phone with the earbuds on, but I wouldn’t want to risk making any noise.

Even in near darkness, I could see his silhouette and his chest rising and falling.

Calmness washed over me, and I closed my eyes, letting myself drift off to sleep.

Author’s notes:

OMG I’m sorry, the sex was supposed to happen in this chapter, but Milo had other ideas! Enjoy the yearn LOL Notice that once Rowan met Milo, he had no pull toward anyone else ;) IYKYK

Yes, The Blue Tentacle is a real club in my hometown, but I know the owner and he was fine with me including it here. Besides, it’s fanfic; I can do whatever I want.
