Chapter Nineteen
Zane
Two months later…
Fuck. I don’t think I have ever been more nervous than I am right now.
Tonight, I have a special date planned for Dani.
Things between us have been really good.
I want us to move forward in our relationship, so I plan on telling her that I love her tonight before asking her to move into the house that I bought for us.
I haven’t furnished it yet, since I wanted Dani to make the house into a home, but I had picked out a five-bedroom house that has two floors. It’s big enough for when we decide to start a family.
I ordered dinner from her favourite restaurant, and everything was set up in the place that I hope to be our new house.
She was meeting me here. Zeke was going to drop her off, since I have been busy setting this up. I have made a picnic of sorts in the empty living room.
I see headlights in the window, and I think it could be them.
I get up and open the door as Dani is climbing out of the vehicle.
“Zane, what is this? Where are we?” she asks, looking around as she steps inside the house.
“I’ll get to that later. Let’s eat first,” I tell her, and walk her into the living room. She gasps when she sees the food spread out for us.
“Wow, this is beautiful,” she whispers in awe as she takes in the candles and flowers around the room as well as the soft music playing in the background. I have never done anything like this for anyone. She’s the only woman who has brought out this side of me.
“All for you, baby,” I rasp.
“You did all this for me?” she asks, looking at me with awe.
I pull her into my arms and kiss her softly.
“I’d do anything for you. Don’t you know that?” I say softly.
“You would, wouldn’t you,” she says to me like she is just realising it now.
“Of course, baby. I love you,” I say.
Her eyes widen at my words before a smile breaks over her face.
“I love you too, Zane,” she says as relief comes quickly to me and my shoulders drop.
I kiss her softly again before pulling her onto the blanket in front of the dinner waiting for us.
“Let’s eat before this gets cold,” I tell her.
“It smells amazing!” she says while looking over everything. I bought Italian from her favourite restaurant, along with some red wine that the chef had told me went well with the food. He seemed to be pretty helpful when I told him what I was doing for my woman.
We make small talk while we eat; everything is so effortless with her. I love talking to her about anything. She has not once judged me for my past. I wasn’t the best guy before she showed up, especially to women, but she doesn’t seem to care because she says it’s not who I am now.
She’s the one who makes it that way. I knew from the moment I met her that she was going to change my life and become important to me.
When the food is all gone, and the dishes are moved to the side, I pull Dani towards me and kiss her like I have been wanting to since she told me she loves me.
She moves to straddle my lap. I wrap one arm around her back and the other hand in her hair as I pull her closer to me.
We get lost in each other. It doesn’t take long before we are stripping off all of our clothes and she is sliding down on my cock.
Fuck, being inside of her is fucking perfection.
Nothing has ever felt this good.
“Zane,” she moans out as my cock hits that perfect spot inside of her.
“Fuck, baby,” I groan out.
I turn up so she’s under me as I slowly thrust inside of her.
I look down into her eyes and see love and desire shining back at me.
My breath catches. No one has ever looked at me this way.
I lean down and kiss her as I make love for the first time in my life.
I had no idea it would feel this amazing.
What I was waiting for all along was her.
Her nails dig into my back. She’s as lost in the moment as I am.
I feel her clench around me, and I pull back from our kiss to look into her eyes once more.
Tears well in her eyes as we both find our release, not breaking our gaze from one another.
The world could be burning down right now, and I don’t think that either of us would notice.
In this moment, there is just us.
Dani
Has anything ever felt so perfect?
I have completely fallen for Zane.
After we make love, we lay in each other’s arms. The silence around us is comforting.
I look around the room. He really went all out for this night.
“Zane?” I ask softly.
“Yeah, baby?” he asks, his voice low and rough.
“Why are we in this house? Whose house is it?” I ask him.
“It’s ours,” he states.
I still at his words. I swear that my heart stops beating for a minute.
“What do you mean, ours?” I ask slowly.
We only just told each other that we love each other. There is no way he wants to move in right away.
“I…uh… bought it for us. To live in. You know, finally get out of the clubhouse,” he says, sitting up and looking nervous.
I sit up too and feel my body shaking.
“But I love living at the clubhouse,” I whisper.
“It’s a great place to be, but we don’t ever get any alone time there,” he says.
That’s true, but I’m not ready to leave the clubhouse.
I jump up and put my dress back on. There is no way I could have this conversation naked.
“I can’t believe you did this. Why would you go and buy a house without asking me?” I hiss at him.
He stands up and puts his clothes on while looking at me with shock in his eyes. “What do you mean? We would need to move out eventually. You knew we were heading in this direction.”
“It’s too soon. I only just started to getting to know my dad. That’s why I came to the clubhouse, and now you want me to leave?” I snap at him.
“Baby, you know you can see your dad any time you want. You don’t have to live at the clubhouse for that to happen. Heck; he’s marrying your mom in a few weeks,” he says with a soft tone.
“You don’t get it. We haven’t known each other that long. This is way too soon. You only just told me you loved me. There is no way we can live together just yet,” I try to reason with him.
“We practically live together already. I don’t see what the big deal is,” he shouts.
“I can’t do this,” I say with a crack in my voice.
I run out the door and keep on running until I find myself at the clubhouse.
Zane pulls up minutes later. “What the fuck were you thinking by taking off on your own like that? Someone could have hurt you!” he growls out in anger.
“I just needed to get away,” I snap.
“Dani, we need to talk about this. I have no idea what I fucking did,” he says with hurt lacing his voice.
“I need my dad,” I whisper, rushing into the club.
It’s busy like it usually is on a Friday night. I spot my parents right away and rush over to them.
“Honey, what’s wrong?” my mom asks with concern in her eyes.
“I just need to talk to dad,” I whisper, trying not to cry.
My dad pushes my mom off his lap lightly and stands up. “Let’s go talk in my office.”
I follow him towards his office. From the side of my eye, I see my mom stop Zane from following us.
When we get in, he closes the door and takes a seat on the couch in there.
“What’s wrong?” he asks when I don’t say anything.
I let out a sigh and take a seat beside him.
“Zane bought us a house,” I whisper brokenly.
“I know, baby. He showed it to us before he bought it,” he admits.
“He did?” I ask hesitantly.
“Of course he did. You didn’t think he would get a house without your parent’s approval first?” my dad asks with a shake of his head.
“Isn’t it too soon?” I ask.
“If it feels right, then it isn’t too soon. Does it feel right to you?” he asks me.
“He’s perfect. He’s everything I could want in a man,” I tell him.
“Then what’s the problem?” he asks.
“I love living at the club. I get to be closer to you. I spent my whole like wondering what my father was like, and now I am finally getting to know you. What if everything changes once I leave the clubhouse?” I say.
“Darling. We will always have time for one another. Your mother and I found a place that’s on the same block as you guys. We may have lost twenty-five years together, but we have a long time to get to know one another,” he tells me.
“I’m just scared,” I whisper.
“Scared of what?” he replies.
I don’t answer right away. He sits patiently while waiting for me to get the words out.
“I love him. I do. It’s the most terrifying and exciting thing I have ever done,” I start. “I didn’t know someone could mean so much to me, you know? Then he comes along and turns my whole world around, and it feels too good to be true. What if we live together and we can’t stand one another? What if I end up not liking the way he washes dishes or something,” I ask.
My dad chuckles for a second before he speaks. “That’s love, darling. It’s scary and exciting. I knew your mom would change everything when I met her. I loved the fucking ride. The hard part is trusting someone with your heart not to break it. Your mom crushed me. I was broken, and a shell of a man when she left. It was the only reason I climbed the ranks in the club so fast because I was trying to escape the hurt of her leaving me. When she came back into my life, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be with her again. It was hard to want to give her that power over me all over again. The heart wants what it wants though, and it always will beat for your mother. It always has.”
I sit there shocked at his words. I never knew he felt that way.
“So, you are saying I just need to trust my heart?” I ask him.
“If Zane is who you really want, who you really love, then everything will work out. If you are scared, tell him why you are scared. Talk to him. Let him prove to you why he is your man,” he says.
“Why does love have to be so scary?” I ask with a sigh.
“If it were easy, everyone would do it. Zane is a good man. I may not have liked you dating a brother when I first found out, but I know he’s a good man and he will treat you right.”
“The house is gorgeous,” I admit.
“He asked your mom for hints on what your dream house was. He doesn’t take this lightly. He knows what kind of commitment this is,” he says.
“I know you are right, but I just let fear take over for a bit there,” I tell him.
“Then go back out there and give him a chance. You might find you like the alone time with your man. Not that I want to know what you guys get up to, but you will love it once you have it,” he says.
“Okay, I will go talk to him,” I say with a long, drawn-out sigh.
He chuckles as we both stand up but, before we can leave the room, we hear a shot ring out. I am frozen in fear.
“Was that?” I ask in horror.
“Fuck,” my dad hisses out before grabbing his gun and running out of the room.
What the fuck happened?
