Chapter 6

“Just admit it,” I say, following beside the grocery cart as we walk down the aisles of Costco. “You cheated on me.”

Matt rolls his eyes. “I did not cheat on you.”

I turn to Jana and Reece. “I saw the proof as soon as I logged in.”

Reece holds up both hands. “I’m staying out of this.”

“You’re staying out of this because you know I’m right.” My eyes turn to Jana. “Matt cheated on me and wasn’t going to tell me.”

His lips pull into a tight smile. “I didn’t tell her because I knew she would freak out.”

“I’m only freaking out because I feel so betrayed.”

Matt leans past me so he can see Jana. “Maybe if Remi didn’t fall asleep all the time, I wouldn’t have to cheat on her.”

“I can’t believe he’s blaming this on me.” I puff. “Maybe if he were a little bit more patient, he wouldn’t mind so much that I fall asleep.”

“I don’t know why you both keep looking at me,” Jana says. “I’m staying out of this too.”

“Patient?” Matt laughs, slapping Reece on the shoulder. “Patient? No man or woman would be that patient. That’s why they call it binge-watching. It’s supposed to be done in rapid succession.”

Now I’m looking at Reece. “He broke the cardinal relationship rule. He kept watching Manifest without me. I’m an entire season behind him. He cheated on me with a TV show, and the worst part is that he used my Netflix login to do it.”

Matt stops pushing the cart and picks up a bag of pretzel chips. “Oh, now I can’t use her Netflix login?”

“He can’t use it if he’s going to watch our show without me.”

Matt’s eyes narrow on me. “Then you better change the password to something other than mattisadreamboat.”

I fold my arms. “Maybe I will.”

“It’s not like Remi can’t catch up on her own,” he says, pushing the cart again.

I ignore him, keeping my focus on my friends. “A good boyfriend would go back and watch season two with me.”

“And a good girlfriend wouldn’t ask me to go back and rewatch an entire season.”

I step in front of them, pleading my case. “True love is never binge-watching a Netflix series without the person you started it with.”

Reece shakes his head. “This is the dumbest fight I have ever been dragged into. Please tell me you guys actually have real fights.”

I shrug. “This is a real fight.”

“Ugh.” Jana pulls Reece ahead. “You guys are too perfect.”

I glance at Matt. He smiles, then tackles me into a bear hug, kissing my neck over and over again until I start laughing.

“I’m still mad at you,” I say, hugging him back.

He pushes me up against the pallets of Nutella, kissing me softly. “I’m sorry I watched Manifest without you. I won’t do it again.”

“You better not, or else I’m changing my Netflix login to mattbetrayedme.”

His lips move to the other side of my neck, kissing another trail down to my collar bone. “I’ll go back and watch season two with you.”

I hug him tighter, smiling. “I knew you would.”

Maybe this is true love.
