Epilogue

Sasha

A little over a year later

“Is this the last box?” Conner asked as he walked into Sasha’s apartment.

“That’s it.”

She turned around and Conner was standing in the doorway wiping sweat from his forehead.

“Cash and Evie are driving his truck load over and I’m about to head over with the moving truck. Kate and Wes are already heading over to our place.”

“Our place,” she said to him with a smile.

“It’s been our place,” he said, walking over and pulling her hips close to him.

“Yes, but it is officially now.”

When Sasha had taken Conner home over the summer, to her surprise, he actually did talk to her dad about marrying her. She shouldn’t have been surprised, he told her that was what he was going to, but she didn’t know he meant it. She has since learned Conner doesn’t say things he doesn’t mean.

That year they had played in Chicago the day before Christmas eve, so they decided to spend Christmas with her family. After midnight mass Conner had a small present for her under the tree and he proposed. It was magical.

“Sasha, it looks like you really found a good man,” her mom had said to her Christmas morning. “He seems to really love you, he makes good money…and I mean he’s easy on the eyes too.”

“Mom!”

“What? I know a handsome man when I see one,” she said as she slipped her arms around Sasha’s dad.

“He treats you well, so that’s all I care about sweetheart,” her dad said with a smile. “Well, that, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s Catholic.”

“I’m glad you approve,” she said jokingly. But if she was being honest, she was glad they approved. Her family had accepted him with open arms and the McPhee’s had done the same to her.

She found herself with the McPhee’s a lot because of how close they lived to Glendale. It was wonderful, they were a big loud family much like the one she was from. She couldn’t wait to their life together.

This year had also brought closure when it came to the stalker incident. She was glad she had the influence of the Magic behind her…and their lawyers. Peter Waterson was his name. He had been following her for a long time. Now he was locked away and he was never allowed near her again. While she hated going to court and testifying, Conner, of course, had been there every step of the way. That terrible chapter in their life closed when he was sentenced. She still had the occasional nightmare and panicky feeling, but with Conner by her side even those moments were few and far between.

She looked around her empty apartment. She had kept it, but had spent a majority of her time at Conner’s. It was time they finally made the move official. Looking around and taking it in, she gave a big sigh.

Conner moved in and slipped his arms around her waist. His embrace still gave her butterflies. It’s been well over a year since everything went down and that magic spark that danced between them every time they touched was still there.

She put her hand over his and leaned into his embrace. Resting her head on his chest, she looked up at him. “Let’s go home.”

He dropped a sweet kiss on her mouth. “Let’s go home.”
