Chapter 12 #3
He sighed and took a few extra steps to reach the table like it was somehow the most exhaustive journey of his life. When he took a spot in front of me, he looked down at me like I was less than the dirt beneath his shoe.
“Open your mouth,” he demanded. I stared up at him in disbelief.
“I can hold it,” I murmured uneasily.
“Open your mouth, bitch. You will have your water however I damn well please,” he replied.
“I’m still a human being,” I spat.
He tilted his hand, letting some of the water spill out onto the floor.
“Wait! Please. I’m sorry,” I shrieked and mercifully, the man stopped.
Feeling like a performance monkey, I angled my head up and opened my mouth. I hated myself in that moment, but I was so thirsty, and I didn’t know how long I’d been without water. He tilted the cup and poured a small amount into my mouth. I was grateful he didn’t dump the whole thing on my face.
He wasn’t a total monster at least. I swallowed and kept opening my mouth for him. I tried not to think about how I looked like a baby bird begging for food in its nest.
When I’d taken several gulps, he placed it down on the floor, thankfully within my reach this time. My stomach growled, but I didn’t want to force my luck any more than I already had.
“Will you tell me your name?” I asked quietly. I made sure that I kept any measure of challenge from my tone.
“Terrance,” he replied curtly. He licked his lips and my initial uneasy feeling returned tenfold.
“I’m Raiza,” I offered lamely.
“I know,” he said arrogantly.
“I didn’t do what they said,” I continued softly.
“You didn’t?” he questioned. He knelt in front of me and reached for my chin, lifting my face and examining me closely. I shook my head, wanting to make this man an ally. I had to try.
“No,” I smiled hopefully. “I’m just a prisoner. I escaped to come warn your people that the aliens are coming. They’ve found your solar banks and they started mapping out the underground with every intention of clearing your people out.”
“So, you didn’t drag the alien you tried to kill off to heal him then,” he countered.
I paused. I shook my head. I couldn’t admit something like that to him.
“I couldn’t kill him even if I tried. He’s the ultimate soldier. I don’t even know if humans are even capable of something like that. I shot him with a bullet and his skull pushed it right out,” I attempted to explain.
“I heard stories of you and him terrorizing the people you once called yours. You stood by his side as he slaughtered them,” he continued.
“I couldn’t stop it, not when they fired at me first,” I replied.
“Will he come looking for you?” Terrance pressed. I had to resist every instinct to touch my collar at that moment.
“Yes,” I answered, and his gaze grew darker. Terrance moved a bit closer to me and I recoiled when he reached for me again. His fingers hurt when he grasped my chin, but that all paled to the backhand that followed.
I gasped in shock, lifting my hand to soothe my left cheek. My face burned with heat from the harsh slap, but the humiliation that followed scalded me from within.
“I wonder if it will anger him to see this pretty face bruised,” Terrance murmured.
“I think you’re lying. Maybe you offered yourself up to him in exchange for whatever is hidden underneath his belt.
Maybe you begged him to take you to the fancy alien city because you wanted a taste of the good life. ”
“I didn’t,” I exclaimed.
“You are pretty, you know. We don’t often get fresh meat like you down in the underground,” he growled, and I grimaced at the insinuation.
I crawled backwards, but he followed, and I reached out, finding the plastic bag underneath my hand.
I crunched it in my fingers, panicking for a second until I found the opening.
Quickly, I glanced down and made a grab for the pen just as Terrance leaned over me.
He pushed down at my shoulder and slipped his other hand in the gap of my shirt at my waist. His fingers slipped over the flesh of my belly and his unwanted touch made me want to throw up.
“Take your hands off of me,” I warned him. My fingers closed around the pen, gripping it with intention, but still I held off.
“I want to see what he sees,” he growled, and I felt the hardness of his cock against my hip. The man grasped my shirt and pushed it up. My breasts were covered by a thick bra, but it soon became apparent that it wasn’t going to dissuade him.
“Don’t do this. He’ll kill you,” I tried again.
I had never had to defend myself from a human before. I didn’t want to kill him.
“No. Not if he wants his precious human alive,” Terrance murmured, and I knew that he was going to take what he wanted no matter what I said. The nauseous feeling in the pit of my belly strengthened until it overwhelmed me.
I couldn’t let him take me like this. I didn’t belong to him. I belonged to someone else.
I wasn’t a killer, but right now, I needed to protect myself. This man wasn’t a good man simply because he was human.
He didn’t deserve me, and I wasn’t going to give myself to him. I would defend myself no matter what.
His fingers slipped beneath the bottom hem of my bra, just touching the curve of my breast.
I knew the time for action had come. With regret, I gripped the pen tighter and swung my un-cuffed hand toward his throat.
I used so much force that the thing sank deep into his neck and the visceral spray of blood was quick to follow.
I’d probably hit a crucial vein, but I didn’t know enough about human anatomy to be sure.
He cried out, but I slammed my other hand into his throat hard enough to cut off the sound.
He reached down to his waist and tried to pull out a knife, but he was losing too much blood far too quickly to really hold onto his strength. With vicious speed, I tugged the pen out and slammed it into his neck a second time.
The warmth of his blood was thick, and I gagged as the thick metallic scent assaulted me. His movements turned sluggish and stopped soon after that.
With a hum of nausea, I slipped my hands down his waist. There was a knife there and I took it out. I held it to his throat as I used every bit of my strength to push him off me and roll him aside.
When I was finally free, I pulled in a full terrified breath.
He wasn’t going to take what wasn’t his to take anymore.
My heart was pounding in my chest, and I didn’t waste any more time before I started searching him.
There was a small key in his pocket, and I cried out with joy once it slid into the metal cuff that held me prisoner. I twisted it and it clicked open.
I was free. I kept the knife in my hand as I stood up. There wasn’t much I could do about the sheer amount of blood that covered me right now. The only upside to it was that it could potentially keep me hidden in the shadows a bit better now.
I didn’t look down at Terrance anymore. I didn’t want to see the look in his eyes that remained after his last breath.
I left the bread behind too. I didn’t think I could stomach it even if I tried.
I took off down the tunnel, pausing as I rounded the bend where the flickering light had been.
I peeked around the corner, but I didn’t see anyone.
I listened for a while, making sure no one was there before I continued.
From what I could see down the long passageway, there were a series of weak lights that only illuminated it enough to see the way forward.
There were plenty of shadows to hide in along the way.
They’d imprisoned me in what seemed like a dead end, and as I crept along, I began to hear voices ahead of me. They were all men, and they were talking about me.
“How did Terrance get such a lucky hand? I wanted to be the first to test the traitor goods.”
“I bet she’s nice and tight. I wonder what hole he’s going to choose. Think he’s a mouth, pussy, or asshole kind of guy?”
“He seems like a dude that enjoys a good blowjob. He’s always had a thing for a warm mouth.”
I could have vomited on the floor right there.
The humans I’d survived with all my life had never talked like this. Rape had never been a part of our lives. Their words were so raw and vicious, like they didn’t even consider that I was a person too, like I was nothing more than a body that they could use as they saw fit.
I swallowed heavily and continued. There was a flickering light to my right side and as I drew closer, I could see enough to tell that it was some sort of utility room off the tracks. I started to move more slowly, taking care that each of my steps were silent.
They continued talking about my body and I tried to ignore it, but it just made me feel sicker.
I didn’t want to alert them to my presence as I crept along.
I wasn’t certain where I was. There was nothing about this section of tunnels that gave me any indication of my location beneath the city.
I didn’t know how far these tunnels went on for and where they’d taken me after they’d knocked me out.
“Man. How long do you think that jackass needs? Think he’s breaking the rules and using more than one hole? I want my damn turn.”
There was more ruckus from inside the room and I pressed my back against the wall.
There was a scuffle and I slipped into a divot.
It was big enough to hide my whole body in and the glow from the dim lights didn’t reach me.
I turned my head as someone walked out of the room, but they went on in the direction I’d come from and didn’t look my way.
I breathed a sigh of relief until I realized that I hadn’t come very far, and I hadn’t had the forethought to hide Terrance’s body.
Fuck.
There wasn’t any time for me to run, so I stayed in place, hoping my hiding spot would work until they disappeared to search for me.
“Motherfucker! Get out here, boys! We have a big problem!”
