Kate’s chest constricted, making it impossible to enjoy the pine needle scent of the forest surrounding her.
All her focus lay on Raz as he walked beside her.
The heat in the kitchen had been unmistakable.

Raz caught her around the waist, lifted her off her feet, and spun her.
“Got you,” he whispered and his warmth pressed against her back.
She breathed hard in his arms. “Are you sure, Raz? I can’t go through another rejection like that again. I won’t.”
“You have all of me. I’m sorry I couldn’t face that sooner. I didn’t want to say the wrong thing to you, but I hurt you anyway.”
She slid away from him and turned. “Stop blocking me along the link. I need to show you something.”
He stared at her for a long moment before heat, spice, and emotion ruptured through the link. Dragon scales curled up against her mind. Soothing and comforting.
She sagged against him. “There you are.” Her arms rose to loop around his neck.
He shuddered under her touch. “I’ve missed you.”

He stilled. “Kate? Are you sure?”
“I want you to see. The good and the bad. And I need to know if you can accept me.”
He cupped her face in his hands. “I see a strong woman who made mistakes and has fought to correct them.”
