Epilogue

Kayden

8 months later

I crack my knuckles as I sit at my desk, having just finished taking down yet another trafficking ring two hours ago. This time we rescued three women, all in various states of abuse.

When we suspected initially that the Romanis were sex trafficking women, a sense of duty came over me. A means to funnel the darkness inside of me into something good. And so I built Project Zero—a mission to save women and children from sex trafficking. I bought a large warehouse by the marina which became our home base, Eden. After renovations, it became the sanctuary for all the women and children to be brought to where they can get medical attention, recover and heal, seek therapy, get new identities, and then start over somewhere fresh.

Franklin was recruited into my mission early on. I knew I couldn’t pull this off without his skills. We also recruited Dr. Crawford; he’s been fundamental in providing the necessary medical care.

We’ve done four missions since rescuing Emilia, and with each mission we become more and more efficient at our goal. I haven’t lost a single man since the Romanis, and Emilia lends me the use of her clean up crew, each of us sharing a desire to bring an end to the abuse of women and children.

This all allows the darkness that’s inside of me an outlet, a means to take out my darkest desires and use it for a higher purpose. My men know me, know the darkness that I hold within, and yet they still stand by my side. As all of them are retired Special Ops, it also gives them an outlet as well.

For now, Franklin keeps tabs on all the women and children that we rescue, checking in every six months to ensure they are thriving in their new lives—we only interfere if they’re struggling.

I, however, am restless. Something came out of that Romani house, something that bleeds into every thought, every single minute of the day. She commands me, without even knowing me.

She has become my obsession, and I won’t stop until she’s mine.
